After several attempts, you may experience that the engine still does not start. 1. Make sure that all electric devices, such as lights, air conditioning blower and rear window defogger, are turned off.
2. While depressing the brake pedal on vehi- cles equipped with Twin Clutch SST or the clutch pedal on the vehicles equipped with manual transaxle, press the accelera-tor pedal halfway and hold it there, then crank the engine. Release the accelerator pedal, immediately after the engine starts.3. If the engine still will not start, the engine could be flooded with too much gasoline. While depressing the brake pedal on vehi-cles equipped with Twin Clutch SST orthe clutch pedal on the vehicles equipped with manual transaxle, push the accelera- tor pedal all the way down and hold itthere, then crank the engine for 5 to 6 sec- onds. Return the ignition switch to the “LOCK” position and release the acceler-ator pedal. Wait a few seconds, and then crank the engine again for 5 to 6 seconds while depressing the brake pedal or theclutch pedal, but do not push the accelera- tor pedal. Release the ignition key if the engine starts. If the engine fails to start,repeat these procedures. If the engine still will not start, contact your local Mitsubishi Motors dealer or a repair facil-ity of your choice for assistance.
When the ambient temperature is -22 °F (-30 °C) or lower, it may not be possible tostart from a standstill even with the gearshift lever in the “D” (DRIVE) or “R” (REVERSE) position.This phenomenon occurs because the trans- mission has not warmed up sufficiently; it does not indicate a problem. If it occurs,place the gearshift lever in the “P” (PARK)position and let the engine idle for at least 10 minutes. The transmission will warm up, and you willbe able to start normally. The electronic immobilizer is designed to sig-nificantly reduce the possibility of vehicle theft. The purpose of the system is to immo- bilize the vehicle if an invalid start isattempted. A valid start attempt can only be achieved (subject to certain conditions) using a F.A.S.T.-Key “registered” to the immobi-lizer system.
WA R N I N G Make sure to remove the F.A.S.T.-key from the emergency key after the engine is started. If not removed, the F.A.S.T.-key could fall to the floor, which could disturb the pedaloperation. Furthermore, the F.A.S.T.-key could prevent the driver’s knee airbag from inflating normally or could be pro-pelled to cause serious injury if the airbag inflates.NOTE
 If the emergency key is attached to a key ring, it may become impossible to insert the F.A.S.T.-key into the emergency key, and it may prevent the engine from being started.When using the emergency key to start the engine, first remove the key from the key ring.

Since driving torque can be applied to all fourwheels, the performance of the vehicle whenoperating in all-wheel drive is greatly affected by the condition of the tires. Pay close attention to the tires. Install specified tires on all wheels. Refer to “Tires and wheels” on page 11-5. Be sure to fit all four tires and wheels of the same size and type. When replacement of any of the tires orwheels is necessary, replace all of them.  All tires should be rotated whenever the wear difference between the front and reartires is recognizable.
Good vehicle performance cannot be expected if there is a difference in wear between tires. Refer to “Tire rotation” onpage 9-18.  Check the tire inflation pressure regularly.
CAUTIONWhen the Twin Clutch SST fluid tempera- ture is high, the engine idle speed when the vehicle is stopped may increase or the vehi- cle will have a weak tendency to creep.After that, if the Twin Clutch SST fluid tem- perature rises even higher, the warning display will appear.

A limited-slip differential is applied for front wheel differential. The features of this lim- ited-slip differential are described below: Just as with a conventional differential, the wheel on one side is allowed to turn at a dif-ferent speed from the wheel on the other side when the vehicle is cornering. The difference between the limited-slip differential and aconventional differential is that if the wheel on one side of the vehicle loses traction, a greater amount of torque is applied to thewheel on the other side to improve traction.
 If the ASC OFF switch is continuously pressed after the ASC has been turned OFF or the ASC and the braking control of AYC have been turned off, an erroneous operation prevention function operates and the ASC isautomatically turned ON.
ASC operation display or ASC OFF display
- ASC operation display/ASC indicator The display/indicator will blink when the ASC is operating. - ASC OFF display The display is displayed when the ASC has been deactivated with the “ASC OFF” switch.CAUTION When display/indicator blinks, ASC is operating, which means that the road is slip- pery or that your vehicle’s wheels are begin-ning to slip.  The display may come on when you start the engine. This means that the battery volt- age momentarily dropped when the engine was started. If the set speed driving is deactivated by the condition described in “To deactivate” onpage 5-84, you can resume the previously set speed by pressing the “ACC RES” switch (C) while driving at a speed of about 25 mph (40km/h) or higher.
Under either of the following conditions, however, using the switch does not allow you to resume the previously set speed. In these situations, repeat the speed setting procedure:  The “ON OFF” switch is pressed.  The ignition switch is turned OFF.  “CRUISE” indicator light is turned OFF.

The tire pressure monitoring system uses tire inflation pressure sensors (A) on the wheels to monitor the tire inflation pressures. The system only indicates when a tire is signifi-cantly under-inflated.

This light comes on when the ignition switch is turned to the “ON” position (engine off).When the engine is started, the light should go off a few seconds later. A warning is also displayed in the multi-information display.The warning light also illuminates after start-ing the engine under the following condi- tions.  When the parking brake is still applied.  When the brake fluid level is low.  When the brake system circuit is not working properly.
Before driving, be sure that the parking brake is fully released and brake warning light isoff.

This indicator is a part of the onboard diag- nostic (OBD) system which monitors the emissions, engine control system or TwinClutch SST control system. If a problem is detected in one of these systems, this indica- tor illuminates or flashes. When the ignitionswitch is turned to the “ON” position, thisindicator normally comes on and goes off after the engine has started. This indicator will come on if the fuel tank filler cap is not properly tightened. If thisindicator comes on and stays on after refuel- ing, stop the engine and check that the cap is properly tightened. (Turn the cap clockwiseuntil you hear clicking sounds.) If this indicator does not go off after several seconds or lights up while driving, have thesystem checked as soon as possible at an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer or a repair facility of your choice.

 Under conditions such as sporty driving, the brake fluid in the tank may move and the warning light may come on temporarily.If the warning light goes out after a while, there is not a problem with the brake system and the vehicle can be driven normally.
CAUTION If the brake warning light and the Anti-lock braking system warning light are illuminated at the same time, the braking force distribu- tion function will not operate, so the vehicle may be destabilized during sudden brakingunder the following conditions.• When the brake warning light does not goout even when the parking brake is released.• When the brake warning light stays onwhile driving.• If the above occurs, avoid sudden brakingand high-speed driving. Park the vehicle in a safe place, and contact an authorized Mit-subishi Motors dealer or a repair facility of your choice as soon as possible.
 The vehicle should be brought to a halt in the following manner when brake performance is deteriorated.• Confirm that the vehicle slows down whenyou press down on the brake pedal harderthan usual. In some cases, the brake pedal may go all the way to the floor.• Should the brakes fail, use engine brakingto reduce your speed and slowly apply the parking brake.Depress the brake pedal to illuminate the stop lights to alert the vehicles behind you.
