You can centrally lock and unlock your vehicle
and start the engine with the master key with
remote control. A mechanical key is integrat­
ed in the remote control key~ page

® Emergency key
The emergency key is not intended for con­
stant use.
It should only be used in an emer­
gency. Keep it in a safe place and do not carry
it on your key ring .
Key replacement
If you lose a key, contact your authorized Audi
dealer immed iately to have the
lost key disa­
bled. Be sure to bring all your keys with you.
Personal comfort settings
If two people use one vehicle, it is recom­
mended that each person always uses "their
own" master key. When the ignition is switch­
ed off or when the vehicle is locked, personal
convenience settings for the following sys­
tems are stored and assigned to the remote
master key.
- Automatic climate control
- Central locking system
- Ambience lighting*
- Seat memory*
- Parking system*
- Adaptive cruise control*

- Audi active lane assist*
- Audi side assist*
-Audi drive select
- Night vision assistant*
- Heated steering wheel*
The stored settings are automatically recalled
when you unlock the vehicle, when you open
the doors or when you switch the ignition on.
A WARNING
-Do not leave your vehicle unattended. Al­
ways take your ignition key with you and
lock your vehicle. Entry by unauthorized
persons could endanger you or result in
theft or damage the vehicle.
- Do not leave children unattended in the
vehicle, especially with access to vehicle
keys. Unguarded access to the keys pro­
vides children the opportunity to start
the engine and/or activate vehicle sys­
tems such as the power windows, etc.
Unsupervised operation of any vehicle
system by children can result in serious
injury.
(D Tips
- The operation of the remote control key
can be temporarily disrupted by interfer­
ence from transmitters in the vicinity of
the vehicle working in the same frequen­
cy range (e.g. a cell phone, radio equip­
ment).
- For security reasons, replacement keys
are only available from Audi dealers.

A WARNING
-Never adjust the driver's or front pas­
senger's seat while the vehicle is moving.
If you do this while the veh icle is moving,
you will be out of position . A lways adjust
the driver's or front passenger's seat
when the vehicle is not moving.
- Be careful when adjusting the seat
he ight. Check to see that no one is in the
way, or serious injury could result!
- Because the seats can be electrically ad­
justed with the ignit ion off, never leave
children unattended in the vehicle. Unsu­
pervised use o f the electric seat adjust­
ments may cause serious injury.
- To reduce the risk of injury in the case of
sudden braking or accident, front pas­
sengers must never ride in a moving ve­
hicle with the backrest reclined. Safety
belts and the airbag system on ly offer
maximum protection when the backrest
is upright and the safety belts are prop­
erly positioned on the body . The more
the backrest is reclined, the greater the
ris k of persona l inju ry from an incorrect
seating position and improperly posi­
tioned safety belts.
(D Tips
- The massage function switches off auto­
matically after approximately 10 mi­
nutes.
- Th e side bolsters* deflate when the driv­
er's doo r is opened. This allows you to
enter and exit comfortably. The side bol­
sters inflate again once you begin driv­
ing.

Adjusting the head restraints
• To move the head restraint up, hold it at the
sides with both hands and slide it upward
until you feel it lock into place

Installing the head restraints
• Slide the posts on the head restraint down
into the guides until you feel the posts lock
i nto place .

should not be able to pull the head restraint
out of the backrest.
So that the driver can have a better view to
the rear, the head restraints should be pushed
down completely when the rear seats are not
occupied .
A WARNING
-On ly remove the rear seat head restraints
when necessary in order to install a child
seat. Install the head restraint again im­ mediately once the child seat is removed.
Driving without head restraints or with
head restraints that are not properly ad­
justed increases the risk of serious or fa­
tal neck injury dramat ically.

Seat memory
Description
Applies to vehicles: wit h memory function
The memory func tion allows you to quickly
and easily store and recall personal seating
profiles for the driver and front passenger* .
The memory function is operated through the
master key and the memory buttons in the
driver's/front passenger's* doors.
The driver's seating profile is stored and as­
s igned to the master key each time the vehicle
is locked. When you open the door, the seat­
ing profile is automatically recalled.
If two
people use one vehicle, it is recommended
that each person always uses "their own"
master key.
Two seating profiles can be stored in each of
the driver's/front passenger's* doors. Once
stored, these seating profiles can be recalled
at any time .
The following settings are stored:

Switching the memory function on /off
• Press the IOFFI button to swi tch the memory
function on/off. The LED in the button illu­
minates when the memory function is
switched off. Seating profi les are neither
stored nor recalled.
Storing a seating profile
• Press the ISETI button. When the word SET
lights up, the memory is ready to store set­
tings.
• Press a memory button briefly. A tone con­
firms that the settings were stored.
Accessin g a seating profile
• If the driver's door is open and the ignition
is switched off, press the memory button.
.,. If the driver's door is closed or the ignition is
switched on, press and hold the memory
button until the seat adjustment is com­
plete.
_&. WARNING
- For safety reasons, the seat setting
should only be recalled when the veh icle
is stationa ry - otherw ise you risk having
an accident .
- I f necessary, you stop the process by
p ress ing the
I OFF ! button or any of the
memory buttons.
Adjusting the front passenger seat in
the MMI

There must be at least 10 inc hes (25 cm) be­
tween you r chest and the center of the steer ­
ing whee l.
If you cannot sit more than 10 in­
ches (25 cm) from the steering whee l, see if
adaptive equipment is available to help you reach the pedals and increase the distance
from the steer ing wheel.

In vehicles with the memory f unction* , the
steering column settings are stored together
with the seat position.
A WARNING
Improper use of steering wheel adjust­
ment and improper seating position can
cause se rious personal injury.
- Adjust the steer ing whee l column on ly
when the vehicle is not moving to pre­
vent loss of veh icle control.
-
- Adjust the driver's seat or steering wheel
so that the re is a min imum of 10 inches
(25 cm) between your chest and the
steering wheel ¢
page 1211 fig. 146. If
you can not maintain this min imum dis­
tan ce, the airbag system cannot protect
yo u properly.
- If phys ica l limi tations prevent you from
sitting 10 in ches (25 cm) o r more from
the steering wheel, check with yo ur au­
tho rized Aud i dealer to see if adaptive
equipment is availab le .
- If the steering wheel is aligned with you r
face, the supp lemental drive r's airbag
cannot provide as much protect ion in an
acc ident. A lways make sure that the
steering wheel is aligned with your
chest.
- Always hold the steering wheel with your
hands at the 9 o'clock and 3 o'clock posi­
t ions to reduce the risk of pe rsonal injury
if the d river 's airbag deploys.
- Never hold the steering whee l at the 12
o'clock posit ion or w ith your hands i nside the steering wheel rim or on the steering
wheel hub. Hold

to the hands, arms and head if the driv­
er 's airbag deploys.
Easy entry feature
Applies to vehicles: with electrically adjustable steering
wheel
The easy entry feature makes it easier to en­
ter and exit the vehicle by automatically ad­
justing the steering wheel.

steering wheel moves up to the park position

trical capac itance greater than the com­
bined capacitance of a typical one-year
old infant restra ined in one of the for­
ward fac ing or rearward-fac ing ch ild
seats w ith which your vehicle was certi­
fied is on the front passenger seat and
the other conditions for airbag deploy­ ment are met.
- Acc ident statist ics have shown that chil­
dren are generally safer in the rea r seat
area than in the front seating posit ion .
- For their own safety, all children, espe­
c ially 12 years and younger, sho uld al­
ways ride in the back p roperly rest rained
for their age an d size .
Advanced front airbag system
Your veh icle is equipped w ith a front Advanced
Airbag System in comp liance with Un ited
States Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 208 as applicable at the time your vehicle was
manufactured.
The front Advanced Airbag System supple­ ments the safety belts to provide add it iona l
protection for the driver's and front passeng­
e r's heads and upper bodies in frontal crashes.
The airbags inflate only in frontal impacts
when the vehicle dece le rat io n is high enough.
The front Advanced A irbag System for the
fro nt seat occupants is not a substitute for
your safety belts . Rather, it is part of the over­
all occupant rest raint system in your ve hicle.
A lways remember that the airbag system can
only help to pro tect you, if you are s itting up ­
righ t, wearing yo ur sa fety belt and wearing it
properly. This is why you and yo ur passengers
must always be properly restrained, not just
because the law requires you to be.
The Advanced Airbag System in your veh icle
h as been certified to meet the " low r isk" re­
q uir ements for 3 and 6 year-o ld children on
the passenger s ide and very small adu lts on
the dr iver side. The low risk deployment crite­
ria are intended to he lp reduce the risk of i n­
j ury through interaction with the front airbag

that can occur, for examp le, by being too
close to the steering wheel and instr ument
panel when the airbag inflates .
In add ition, the system has been cert ified to
comply with the "s uppression" requirements
of the Safety Standard, to turn off the front
airbag for in fants 12 months o ld and younger
who are rest rained on the front passenger
seat in child restraints that are listed in the
Standa rd
c> page 167, Child restraints and
Advanced front airbag system .
"Suppression" requires the front a irbag on the
passenger side to be turned off if:
- a child up to abo ut one year of age is re­
strained on the front passenger seat in one
of the rear-fac ing or forward -facing infant
restraints listed in Federal Motor Vehicle
Safety Standard 208 with which the Ad ­
vanced Airbag System in your ve hicle was
cert ified . Fo r a listing of the chi ld restraints
that were used to certify you r vehicle's com­
p lia nce w it h t he US Safe ty Stand ard
c>page 167,
-When a pe rson is detec ted o n the front pas ­
senge r seat that has an e lec trica l capa ci­
tance t hat is more than the tota l elect rical
capacitance of a child that is about 1 year
old restrained in one of the rear-facing or
forward-facing infant restraints (listed in Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 208
w ith which the Advanced A irbag System in
your vehicle was certified), the front airbag
on t he passenger side may or may not de­
ploy.
The
PASSENG ER AIR BAG OFF light comes on
when the electron ic cont ro l unit de tects a to ­
ta l elect rical capac itance on the front passen­
ger seat that requi res the front a irbag to be
turned off. If the
PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF
li gh t does no t come on, the front airbag on
the passenger side has not been turned off by
the contro l unit and can deploy if the control
u nit senses an impact that meets the condi­
tions stored in its memory.
If the total e lectr ica l capacitance registered
on the front passenger seat is more than that
