4. Install the cylinder heads on the cylinder block. Tighten the cylin-
der head bolts in five steps in the numerical order as shown
using Tool.

Measure the tightening angle in
stage 2 using Tool. Do not mea-
sure visually.
8. Measure crankshaft end play. • If beyond the limit, replace the bearing with a new one.
9. Install the rear oil seal retainer using Tool (A).
a. Loosen the wing nut (B) on the end of the Tool (A).
b. Insert the arbor (D) into the crankshaft pilot hole until the outer lip (C) of the Tool (A) covers the edge of the crankshaft sealing
surface.
c. Tighten the wing nut (B) to secure the Tool (A) to the crankshaft.
d. Apply sealant to rear oil seal retainer as shown. Use Genuine Silicone RTV Seal ant, or equivalent. Refer to
EM-124, "Precaution for Liquid Gasket"
.
• Assembly should be completed within 5 minutes after coating. CAUTION:
The components must be instal led within 5 minutes of the
liquid gasket application. Th en allow 30 minutes for the
liquid gasket to set before operating the engine.
e. Lubricate the sealing surface of the new rear main seal with new engine oil.
Stage 1 : 35.3 N·m (3.6kg-m, 26ft-lb)
Stage 2 : 90 ° degrees clockwise

13. Install the piston and connecting rod assembly into the corre-
sponding cylinder.
• Position the crankshaft pin corresponding to the connecting
rod to be installed onto the bottom dead center.
• Apply engine oil sufficiently to the cylinder bore, piston, and crankshaft pin.
• Match the cylinder position wit h the cylinder No. (B) on the
connecting rod to install.
• Install the piston with the piston front mark (A) on the crown
facing the front of the engine ( ), using a suitable tool.
- Oil hole (C)
CAUTION:
Be careful not to damage the crankshaft pin and cyl inder wall, resulting from an interference of the
connecting rod big end.
14. Install the connecting rod cap. • Match the stamped cylinder number marks on the connectingrod with those on the cylinder cap for installation.
• Install the piston connecting rod assembly and cap so that the front mark on the cap and piston are facing the front of the
engine.
• Lubricate the threads and seat surfaces with new engine
oil.
15. Check the connecting rod cap bolts before reusing, then install
in their original position in the connecting rod. The bolts should
screw in smoothly by hand.
• Measure the outer diameter of the connecting rod cap bolts as
shown.
16. Tighten the connecting rod cap bolts in two stages using Tool: CAUTION:
Always use either an angle wr ench or protractor. Avoid
tightening based on visual check alone.
• Apply engine oil to the threads and seats of the connecting rod cap bolts.
• After tightening the connecting rod cap bolts, make sure that the crankshaft rotates smoothly.
• Check the connecting rod side clearance. If beyond t he limit, replace the connecting rod and/or crank-
shaft.

6. Disconnect the harness connectors from the front combination
lamp (1).

After installing, be sure to install the bulb socket securely to ensure watertightness.
HEADLAMP LOW BEAM XENON
CAUTION:
• Disconnect the battery negative terminal or remove the fuse.
• HID control unit and xenon bu lb socket cannot be disassembled.
Removal
1. Disconnect the battery negative te rminal (xenon only). Refer to PG-73, "Removal and Installation (Bat-
tery)".
2. Position the front fender pr otector aside. Refer to EXT-26, "FENDER PROTECTOR : Removal and Instal-
lation".
3. Rotate the plastic cover counterclockwise and remove from the front combination lamp.
4. Rotate the xenon bulb socket counterclockwise and remove from xenon bulb.
5. Remove the retaining spring and the xenon bulb from the front combination lamp. CAUTION:
Do not break the xenon bulb ceramic tube when replacing the bulb.
Installation
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
CAUTION:
After installing the headlamp bulb, be sure to inst all the plastic cover securely to ensure watertight-
ness.

4. Remove front fog lamp finisher. Refer to EXT-17, "Removal and Installation"
.
5. Remove the screw (A) from the turn signal and hazard warning lamp (1) and remove.

3. Disconnect the harness connector from the daytime light lamp.
4. Release the pawls and remove the daytime light lamp bulb.
