When moving the lever to (2) slightly tochange a lane, the turn-signal lamps andindicator lamp in the instrument clusterwill only flash while the lever is oper-ated.Also, when you move the lever to (2)slightly then release it, the turn-signallamps and indicator lamp in the instru-ment cluster will flash three times.
NOTE
zIf the lamp flashes unusually quickly, thebulb in a turn-signal lamp may have burnedout. We recommend you to have the vehicleinspected. zIt is possible to activate the following func-tions:•Flashing of the turn-signal lamps when thelever is operated with the operation mode isin ACC.•Deactivate the turn-signal lamp 3-flashfunction for lane changes•The time required to operate the lever forthe 3-flash function can be adjusted. For further information, we recommend youto consult a MITSUBISHI MOTORSAuthorised Service Point. On vehicles equipped
with Mitsubishi Multi-
Communication System (MMCS), screenoperations can be used to make the adjust-ment. Refer to the separate owner’s manualfor details. zIt is possible to change the tone of a sound-ing buzzer as the turn-signal lamps flash.Refer to “Changing the turn-signal sound”on page 6-20.

Yo u r v e h i c l e m a y n o t p r o v i d e s u f f i c i e n t h i l lclimbing ability and regenerative brake onsteep slope. Avoid driving on steep slopeseven though the vehicle is an 4-wheel drivevehicle.
E00606701407
After operating the vehicle in rough road con-ditions, be sure to perform the followinginspection and maintenance procedures: zCheck that the vehicle has not been dam-aged by rocks, gravel, etc. zCarefully wash the vehicle with water.Drive the vehicle slowly while lightlydepressing the brake pedal in order to dryout the brakes. If the brakes still do notfunction properly, we recommend you tohave the brakes checked as soon as possi-ble. zRemove the insects, dried grass, etc. clog-ging the radiator core. zCheck the inside of the vehicle. If waterentry is found, dry the carpet etc. zInspect the headlamps, If the headlampbulb is flooded with water, we recom-mend you to have it drained.
WA R N I N G zDo not over-rely on the 4-wheel drive vehi-cles. Even 4-wheel drive vehicles have lim-its to the system and ability to maintaincontrol and traction.
Reckless driving may
lead to accidents. Always drive carefully, taking account of the road conditions. zImproperly operating this vehicle on oroff-pavement can cause an accident orrollover in which you and your passengerscould be seriously injured or killed.•Follow all instructions and guidelines inthe owner’s manual.•Keep your speed low and do not drivefaster than conditions.NOTE
zDriving on rough roads can be hard on avehicle. Before you leave the pavement, besure all scheduled maintenance and servicehas been done, and that
you have inspected
your vehicle. Pay special attention to thecondition of the tyres, and check the tyrepressures. zMITSUBISHI MOTORS
is not responsible
to the operator for any damage or injurycaused or liability incurred by improper andnegligent operation of a vehicle. All tech-niques of vehicle operation depend on theskill and experience of the operator and otherparticipating parties.
Any deviation from the
recommended operating instructions aboveis at their own risk.
zNote that the stopping
distance required of
the 4-wheel drive vehicle differs very littlefrom that of the 2-wheel
drive vehicle. When
driving on a snow-covered
road or a slippery,
muddy surface, make sure that you keep asufficient distance between your vehicle andthe one ahead of you. zThe driving posture s
hould be more upright;
adjust the seat to a good position for easysteering and pedal operati
on. Be sure to wear
the seat belt. zAfter driving on rough roads, check eachpart of the vehicle and wash it thoroughlywith water. Refer to the “Inspection andmaintenance following rough road opera-tion” section and “Maintenance” sections.

Look under the body of your vehicle to checkfor fuel, engine coolant, oil and exhaust gasleaks.Operate the combination lamp switch tocheck that all lamps are functioning properly. If the lamps do not illuminate, the probablecause is a blown fuse or defective lamp bulb.Check the fuses first. If there is no blownfuse, check the lamp bulbs. For information regarding the inspection andreplacement of the fuses and the bulbs, referto “Fuses” on page 11-15 and “Replacementof lamp bulbs” on page 11-21.
NOTE
zDo not allow the wiper arm to fall onto thewindows glass; it could damage the glass.
NOTE
zIf a retainer is not supplied with the newwiper blade, use the retainer from the oldblade.

If the fuses and bulbs are all OK, we recom-mend you to have your vehicle checked andrepaired.Start the plug-in hybrid EV system and checkthe operation of all instruments, gauges andindicator and warning lamps. If there is anything wrong, we recommendyou to have your vehicle inspected.Check all latches and hinges, and, if neces-sary, have them lubricated.
E01002901633
The fusible links will melt to prevent a fire ifa large current attempts to flow through cer-tain electrical systems. In case of a melted fusible link, we recom-mend you to have your vehicle inspected. For the fusible links, please refer to “Passen-ger compartment fuse location table” on page11 -17 a nd “Engine co mpa rtment fuse loc a-tion table” on page 11-18.

To p r e v e n t d a m a g e t o t h e e l e c t r i c a l s y s t e mdue to short-circuiting or overloading, eachindividual circuit is provided with a fuse.There are fuse blocks in the passenger com-partment and in the engine compartment.The fuse blocks in the passenger compart-ment are located behind the fuse lid in frontof the driver’s seat at the position shown inthe illustration.Pull the fuse lid to remove it.
The fuse blocks in the passenger compart-ment are located behind the glove box at theposition shown in the illustration.

4. Insert a new fuse of the same capacity byusing the fuse puller into the same placein the fuse block.
E01003101805
Before replacing a bulb, ensure the lamp isoff. Do not touch the glass part of the newbulb with your bare fingers; the skin oil lefton the glass will evaporate when the bulb getshot and the vapour will condense on thereflector and dim the surface.
NOTE
zIf any system does not function but the fusecorresponding to that system is normal, theremay be a fault in the system elsewhere. Werecommend you to have your vehiclechecked.CAUTION zIf the newly inserted fuse blows again after ashort time, we recommend you to have theelectrical system checked to find the causeand rectify it. zNever use a fuse with a larger capacity thanspecified or a substitute (such as a cable orfoil). Doing so could cause the circuit wiresto overheat and create a fire.
Replacement of lamp bulbs
CAUTION zBulbs are extremely hot immediately afterbeing turned off. When replacing a bulb, wait for it to coolsufficiently before
touching it. You could
otherwise be burnt. zHandle halogen lamp bulb with care. The gasinside a halogen lamp
bulb is highly pressur-
ized, so dropping, knocking, or scratching ahalogen lamp bulb can cause it to shatter. zNever hold the haloge
n lamp bulb with a
bare hand, dirty glove, etc.The oil from your hand could cause the bulbto break the next tim
e the headlamps are
operated. If the glass surface is dirty, it must becleaned with alcohol, paint thinner, etc., andrefit it after drying thoroughly.
NOTE
zIf you are unsure of how to carry out thework as required, we
recommend you to con-
sult a specialist. zBe careful not to scratch the vehicle bodywhen removing a lamp or lens. zWhen it rains, or when the vehicle has beenwashed, the inside of the lens sometimesbecomes foggy. This is the same phenome-non as when window glass mists up on ahumid day, and does not
indicate a functional
problem. When the lamp is switched on, the heat willremove the fog. However, if water gathersinside the lamp, we
recommend you to have
the lamp checked.
