2014 FORD FUSION (AMERICAS) navigation system

•MP3 folder mode represents a folderstructure consisting of one level offolders. The CD player numbers all MP3tracks on the disc (noted by the .mp3file extension) and all folderscontaining MP3 files, from F001(folder) T001 (track) to F253 T255.
•Creating discs with only one level offolders helps with navigation throughthe disc files.
If you are burning your own MP3 discs, it isimportant to understand how the systemreads the structures you create. Whilevarious files may be present, (files withextensions other than mp3), only files withthe .mp3 extension are played; other filesare ignored by the system. This enablesyou to use the same MP3 disc for a varietyof tasks on your work computer, homecomputer and your in-vehicle system.
In track mode, the system displays andplays the structure as if it were only onelevel deep (all .mp3 files play, regardlessof being in a specific folder). In foldermode, the system only plays the .mp3 filesin the current folder.

Connecting to SYNC Services UsingVoice Commands
1.Press the voice button.
2.When prompted, say "Services". Thisinitiates an outgoing call to SYNCServices using your paired andconnected Bluetooth-enabled cellularphone.
3.Once you connect to the service, followthe voice prompts to request thedesired service, such as Traffic orDirections. You can also say, "What aremy choices?" to receive a list ofavailable services from which tochoose.
4.Say, "Services" to return to the Servicesmain menu or for help, say, "Help".

This system uses a four-corner strategy toprovide quick access to several vehiclefeatures and settings. The touchscreenprovides easy interaction with your cellularphone, multimedia, climate control andnavigation system. The corners display anyactive modes within those menus, such asphone status or the climate temperature.

•For your safety, some SYNC functionsare speed-dependent. Their use islimited to when your vehicle is travelingat speeds under 3 mph (5 km/h).

Speed-restricted Features
Some features of this system may be toodifficult to use while your vehicle is movingso they are restricted from use unless yourvehicle is stationary.
•Screens crowded with information,such as Point of Interest reviews andratings, SIRIUS Travel Link sportsscores, movie times or ski conditions.
•Any action that requires you to use akeyboard is restricted, such as enteringa navigation destination or editinginformation.
•All lists are limited so the user can viewfewer entries (such as phone contactsor recent phone call entries).

Privacy Information
When you connect a cellular phone toSYNC, the system creates a profile withinyour vehicle that links to that cellularphone. This profile helps in offering youmore cellular features and operating moreefficiently. Among other things, this profilemay contain data about your cellularphone book, text messages (read andunread), and call history, including historyof calls when your cell phone was notconnected to the system. In addition, if youconnect a media device, the systemcreates and retains an index of supportedmedia content. The system also records ashort development log of approximately10 minutes of all recent system activity.The log profile and other system data maybe used to improve the system and helpdiagnose any problems that may occur.
The cellular profile, media device index,and development log remain in yourvehicle unless you delete them and aregenerally accessible only in your vehiclewhen the cellular phone or media playeris connected. If you no longer plan to usethe system or your vehicle, we recommendyou perform a Master Reset to erase allstored information.
System data cannot be accessed withoutspecial equipment and access to yourvehicle's SYNC module. Ford MotorCompany and Ford of Canada do notaccess the system data for any purposeother than as described absent consent, acourt order, or where required by lawenforcement, other governmentauthorities, or other third parties actingwith lawful authority. Other parties mayseek to access the informationindependently of Ford Motor Company andFord of Canada. Note:If your vehicle is not equipped withNavigation, Compass appears in the displayinstead of Navigation. If you press the rightarrow to go into the Compass menu, youcan see the compass graphic. The compassdisplays the direction in which the vehicleis traveling, not true direction (for example,if the vehicle is traveling west, the middleof the compass graphic displays west; northdisplays to the left of west though its truedirection is to the right of west).
Using Voice Recognition
This system helps you control manyfeatures using voice commands. Thisallows you to keep your hands on thewheel and focus on what is in front of you.The system provides feedback throughaudible tones, prompts, questions andspoken confirmations depending on thesituation and the chosen level ofinteraction (voice settings).
The system also asks short questions(confirmation prompts) when it is not sureof your request or when there are multiplepossible responses to your request.
When using voice commands, words andicons may appear in the lower left statusbar indicating the status of the voicesession (such as Listening, Success, Failed,Paused or Try Again).

•During a voice session, press the helpicon (?) in the lower left status bar ofthe screen.
•Say, "What can I say?" for anon-screen listing of the possible voicecommands associated with yourcurrent voice session.
•Press the voice icon. After the tone, say,"Help" for an audible list of possiblevoice commands.
Helpful Hints
•Make sure the interior of your vehicle isas quiet as possible. Wind noise fromopen windows and road vibrations mayprevent the system from correctlyrecognizing spoken commands.
•After pressing the voice icon, wait untilafter the tone sounds and Listeningappears before saying a command. Anycommand spoken before this does notregister with the system.
•Speak naturally, without long pausesbetween words.
•At any time, you can interrupt thesystem while it is speaking by pressingthe voice icon.

Voice Settings
Voice settings allow you to customize thelevel of system interaction, help andfeedback. The system defaults to standardinteraction that uses candidate lists andconfirmation prompts as these provide thehighest level of guidance and feedback.
•Interaction Mode: Novice modeprovides detailed interaction andguidance while the advanced modehas less audible interaction and moretone prompts.
•Confirmation Prompts: The systemuses these short questions to confirmyour voice request. If turned off, thesystem simply makes a best guess asto what you requested. The systemmay still occasionally ask you toconfirm settings.
•Phone and Media Candidate Lists:Candidate lists are lists of possibleresults from your voice commands. Thesystem creates these lists when it hasthe same confidence level of severaloptions based on your voice command.
To access these settings using thetouchscreen:
1.Press the Settings icon > Settings >then Voice Control.
2.Select from the following:
