USB and AUX inputs
First read and observe the introductory information and safety warn-
ings on page 18.
The MDI inputs (USBand AUX) are located above the storage compartment at the
front of the centre console » Fig. 9.
The device can be used to play audio files from sources connected via these in- puts, either directly or via a connection cable available from ŠKODA original acces-
sories.
Adjusting the playback volume of the source
The playback volume of the source can be adjusted by turning the 
knob.
Depending on the connected source, the output volume can be adjusted at this
source » page 11 , Sound settings .
AUX input
External audio sources connected to the AUX input cannot be operated from your
device.
The standard 3.5-mm jack plug is used for the AUX input. If the external audio
source does not have this jack plug, you must use an adapter .
USB input
External audio sources connected to the USB input cannot be operated from your
device.
Before removing the USBdevice, proceed as follows:

Press the SETUP button
→ System → Remove USB device safely .
Do not use USB extension cables or adapters. This can impair the functioning of
the connected source.
USB hubs are not supported.
CAUTION
The AUX input must only be used for audio sources!
Note
■ If an external audio source is connected to the AUX input, which is equipped
with an adapter for external power supply, the sound may be impaired. This de-
pends on the quality of the adapter which is used.■
See the owner's manual of the specific manufacturer for operating the external
audio source.
■
Some devices connected by USB can be charged via the device.


The Telephone menu is available when the following conditions are met:
The ignition is switched on.
The Bluetooth ®
function on the device is switched on.
ŠKODA permits the operation of mobile phones and two-way radio systems with
a professionally installed external aerial and a maximum transmission power of
up to 10 watts.
Please ask at a specialist workshop about installing and operating mobile phones
and two-way radio systems that have a transmission power of more than 10 W.
Operating mobile phones or two-way radio systems may interfere with the func-
tionality of the electronic systems in your vehicle.
The reasons for this are as follows:
› no external aerial;
› incorrectly installed external aerial;
› transmission power greater than 10 watts.
After the device is switched on, the system attempts to connect to the most re-
cently connected mobile phone 1)
.
WARNING■ The national legal regulations for using a mobile phone in a vehicle must be
observed.■
If a mobile phone or a two-way radio system is operated in a vehicle without
an external aerial or with an incorrectly installed external aerial, this can in-
crease the strength of the electromagnetic field inside the vehicle.
■
Two-way radio systems, mobile phones or mounts must not be installed on
airbag covers or within the immediate deployment range of the airbags.
■
Never leave a mobile phone on a seat, on the dash panel or in any area
where it can become a projectile during a sudden braking manoeuvre, an acci-
dent or a collision — risk of injury.
■
The Bluetooth ®
function must be switched off by a specialist workshop be-
fore the vehicle is transported by air.
CAUTION
The range of the Bluetooth ®
connection to the hands-free system is restricted to
the vehicle interior. The range is dependent on local conditions, e.g. obstacles be-
tween the devices and mutual interferences with other devices. If your mobile
phone is in a jacket pocket, for example, this can lead to difficulties when estab-
lishing a connection with the hands-free-system or transferring data.
Note
We recommend that the installation of mobile phones and two-way radio sys-
tems in a vehicle be carried out by a specialist garage.1)
With some phones, it is necessary to set the connection to the device as "authorised" in order for the
automatic connection to be successful. If this is not set, the system will prompt you for a confirma-
tion each time you attempt to connect to the mobile phone.

function, the following messages appear on the device display screen.

By removing the ignition key, the Bluetooth ®
function is reset to the initial settings after approxi-
mately 2 minutes. The function should be restored after carrying out this step.

Phonebox

Phonebox

At the bottom of the storage compartment in the front center console is an in-
duction plate connected to a GSM roof antenna roof - the Phonebox.
Function
When the mobile phone is inserted into the Phonebox, the phone signal increases in strength by about 20%. This reduces the level of phone battery discharge and
the electromagnetic radiation inside the vehicle.

Metallic objects such as coins or keys under the mobile phone can affect the

To connect a mobile phone with the hands-free system, the two devices must be paired. 

The pairing can be initiated from the hands-free system as well as from the mo-
bile phone.
Prerequisites for successful pairing: The ignition is switched on.

devices, or if the

The search can be cancelled by pressing the BACK

showing the devices that were found before the search was cancelled.
If the mobile phone supports the Bluetooth ®
profiles A2DP or AVRCP, the mes-
sage Do you want to connect the audio profile? appears on the screen, along
with the possible functions 1)

The device can pair several Bluetooth ®
players, but only one player can be con-
nected to the device.
Note any pairing requests shown in the Bluetooth ®
player.

on the type of mobile phone:

■ OK - Accepts the entered PIN code
■ Delete - Changes the entered PIN code
If the hands-free system appears on the display of the mobile phone, confirm the
pairing request and wait until the pairing is complete.

Fast connection to another paired mobile phone
First read and observe the introductory information given on page 26.
If you want to connect the device to another paired mobile phone, the existing
connection does not have to be terminated. The connection to the existing mo-
bile phone is automatically terminated by connecting to another mobile phone.

Press the PHONE button in the Telephone main menu.
A list of up to four previously connected mobile phones will appear.

Select the mobile phone to be connected with the hands-free system by con- firming the corresponding function key

The on-screen message Replace the connection with … with a new connection
with …? must be confirmed in order to ensure that the connection is established
successfully.

If the desired mobile phone does not appear in the list press the Search key and
search for paired devices.

Select the desired phone from the resulting list of paired devices by turning the
menu button

Confirm the connection by selecting Connect.
If the desired mobile phone did not appear in the list of the four previously con-
nected mobile phones and is not in the resulting list of paired devices, then the
mobile phone must be paired with the device » page 27.

Automatic connectionFirst read and observe the introductory information given on page 26.
After the device is switched on, the system attempts to connect 1)

system will then attempt to connect to other previously connected phones one
by one.
The message Automatic connection... appears on the screen during the automat-
ic connection process.
If the phone was found, the following message appears on the screen: Connection successful

If the phone was not found, the message Please connect a mobile telephone.
appears on the screen.

Disconnection
First read and observe the introductory information given on page 26.
The connection of a mobile phone to the device can be disconnected in one of the
following ways.
› By removing the ignition key (or switching off the ignition and opening the driv-
er's door in vehicles with the KESSY system).
› By disconnecting the hands-free system or switching off the Bluetooth ®
func-
tion on the mobile phone.
› By switching off the Bluetooth ®
function on the device » page 13.
› By disconnecting or deleting the paired device from the list of paired devi-
ces » page 13 .


Searching the contact list

→ Contacts .
Downloading and updating the contact list Up to 2000 contacts can be downloaded to the device from the connected mobile
phone. Each contact can contain up to 5 numbers.
When the mobile phone is first connected to the hands-free system, the system
begins to download the contacts list from the phone and SIM card 1)
into the de-
vice memory. The next time the mobile phone connects to the hands-free system,
the contact list will merely be updated.
Before a contact list is available, the message No contact available appears on
the screen.
If the contact memory is full, the download process is terminated and the mes-
sage Contact memory is full. appears on the screen. Only the already downloaded
contacts will be available.
Newly saved contacts or any changes to these contacts are only shown once the update process is complete.
If an error occurs while downloading the contact list, the message Contact list
download failed. appears on the screen.
The update can be started manually with the function Update.
