position and the selector lever is not in the

When closing the door with the inside
lock knob turned to LOCK The outside chime sounds for a few
seconds and all the doors unlock.
The Intelligent Key is inside the vehicle. Carry the Intelligent Key with you.
When pushing the request switch or
the LOCK
button on the Intelli-
gent Key to lock the door The outside chime sounds for a few
seconds.
The Intelligent Key is inside the vehicle. Carry the Intelligent Key with you.
A door is not closed securely.
Close the door securely.
When pushing the ignition switch to
start the engine The Intelligent Key system warning light in
the meter blinks in green.
The battery charge is low.Replace the battery with a new one. (See
“Key battery replacement” (P.8-23) .)
The Intelligent Key system warning light in
the meter blinks in yellow and the inside
warning chime sounds for a few seconds. The Intelligent Key is not in the vehicle. Carry the Intelligent Key with you.
When pushing the ignition switch The Intelligent Key system warning light in
the meter illuminates in yellow. It warns of a malfunction with the Intelli-
gent Key system.

HOW TO USE REMOTE KEYLESS
ENTRY FUNCTION

WARNING
.Radio waves could adversely affect
electric medical equipment. Those
who use a pacemaker should con-
tact the electric medical equipment
manufacturer for the possible influ-
ences before use.
. The Intelligent Key transmits radio
waves when the buttons are
pushed. The FAA advises that the
radio waves may affect aircraft na-
vigation and communication sys-
tems. Do not operate the
Intelligent Key while on an airplane.
Make sure the buttons are not
operated unintentionally when the
unit is stored during a flight.
CAUTION
.Do not allow the Intelligent Key,
which contains electrical compo-
nents, to come into contact with
water or salt water. This could affect the system function.
. Do not drop the Intelligent Key.
. Do not strike the Intelligent Key
sharply against another object.
. Do not change or modify the Intel-
ligent Key.
. Wetting may damage the Intelligent
Key. If the Intelligent Key gets wet,
immediately wipe until it is comple-
tely dry.
. If the outside temperature is below
148F (−108C) degrees, the battery of
the Intelligent key may not function
properly.
. Do not place the Intelligent Key for
an extended period in an area where
temperatures exceed 1408F (608C) .
. Do not attach the Intelligent Key
with a key holder that contains a
magnet.
. Do not place the Intelligent Key near
equipment that produces a mag-
netic field, such as a TV, audio
equipment, personal computers or
cellular phone.
The remote keyless entry function can operate
all door locks using the remote keyless entry function of the Intelligent Key. The remote
keyless entry function can operate at a distance
of approximately 33 ft (10 m) from the vehicle.
(The operating distance depends upon the
conditions around the vehicle.)
The remote keyless entry function will not
operate:
.
When the Intelligent Key is not within the
operational range.
. When the doors are open or not closed
securely.
. When the Intelligent Key battery is dis-
charged.
The remote keyless entry function can also
operate the vehicle alarm.

When you lock or unlock the doors, the hazard
indicator will flash and the horn will sound as a
confirmation. For details, see “Setting hazard
indicator and horn mode” (P.3-17) .

2. Carry the Intelligent Key with you.
3. Close all the doors.
4. Push the LOCK
button*1on the
Intelligent Key. 5. All the doors and the back door will lock.
6. The hazard indicator flashes twice and the
horn chirps once.
*: Doors will lock with the Intelligent Key while
the ignition switch is in the ACC or ON position.
Operate the door handles to confirm that the
doors have been securely locked.
Unlocking doorsGUID-60505A26-CC95-424D-AA84-104976E374A11. Push the UNLOCKbutton*2on the
Intelligent Key once.
2. The hazard indicator flashes once. The
driver’s door will unlock.
3. Push the UNLOCK
button again within
1 minute.
4. The hazard indicator flashes once. All the doors and the back door will unlock.
All doors will be locked automatically unless one
of the following operations is performed within 1
minute after pushing the UNLOCK
button
while the doors are locked.
. Opening any door (including the back door) .
. Pushing the ignition switch.
During this 1-minute time period, if the UNLOCK
button is pushed, all doors will be locked
automatically after another 1 minute.
Using panic alarmGUID-59EA98B6-1D77-41AB-9743-0E115B6D6823If you are near your vehicle and feel threatened,
you may activate the alarm to call attention as
follows:
1. Push the PANIC
button*3on the
Intelligent Key for more than 1 second.
2. The theft warning alarm and headlights will stay on for 25 seconds.
3. The panic alarm stops when:
.It has run for 25 seconds, or.Any of the buttons on the Intelligent Key is pushed. (Note: the PANIC button must
be pushed for more than 1 second.)

mode when you first receive the vehicle.
In hazard indicator and horn mode, when the
LOCK
button*1is pushed, the hazard
indicator flashes twice and the horn chirps once.
When the UNLOCK
button*2is pushed,
the hazard indicator flashes once.
If horns are not necessary, the system can be
switched to the hazard indicator mode.
In hazard indicator mode, when the LOCK
button is pushed, the hazard indicator flashes
twice. When the UNLOCK
button is
pushed, neither the hazard indicator nor the

WARNING
.Make sure the hood is completely
closed and latched before driving.
Failure to do so could cause the
hood to fly open and result in an
accident.
. If you see steam or smoke coming
from the engine compartment, to
avoid injury do not open the hood.

When opening the hood:
1. Pull the hood release handle
*1located
below the instrument panel; the hood will
then spring up slightly.
2. Locate the lever
*2in between the hood
and grille, and push the lever sideways with
your fingertips.
3. Raise the hood

4. Remove the support rod
*4from the hood
and insert it into the slot
*5.
Hold the coated part
*Awhen removing or
resetting the support rod. Avoid direct
contact with the metal parts, as they may
be hot immediately after the engine has been stopped.
When closing the hood:
1.
While supporting the hood, return the
support rod to its original position.
2. Slowly lower the hood to about 8 to 12 in (20 to 30 cm) above the hood lock, then let
it drop.
3. Make sure it is securely latched.

WARNING
.Always be sure the back door has
been closed securely to prevent it
from opening while driving.
. Do not drive with the back door
open. This could allow dangerous
exhaust gases to be drawn into the
vehicle. See “Exhaust gas (carbon
monoxide)” (P.5-2) of this manual.
. Make sure that all passengers have
their hands, etc. inside the vehicle
before closing the back door.

To open the back door, unlock it and pull the
handle.
The back door can be unlocked by:
.pushing the UNLOCK
button on the
keyfob or the Intelligent Key (if so equipped)
twice.
. pushing the back door request switch (if so
equipped) .
. pushing the power door lock switch to the
unlock position.
. inserting the key into the driver’s door key
cylinder and turning it to the rear of the
vehicle twice.

Do not step or place heavy objects on
the back door opening (over the rear
combination lights) . Doing so could
cause damage to the rear combination
lights and/or personal injury.
BACK DOOR

OPENING THE FUEL-FILLER DOORGUID-726117B3-5ED7-4C18-97A1-8A68AD66182CTo open the fuel-filler door, pull the release
handle located below the instrument panel. To
lock, close the fuel-filler door securely.

FUEL-FILLER CAPGUID-6F57A022-CFC7-4F54-97AE-04CE0DDEB715To remove the fuel-filler cap:
1. Turn the fuel-filler cap counterclockwise

to remove.
2. Put the fuel-filler cap on the cap holder

while refueling.
To install the fuel-filler cap:
1. Insert the fuel-filler cap straight into the fuel- filler tube.
2. Turn the fuel-filler cap clockwise
*2until a
single click is heard.
WARNING
. Gasoline is extremely flammable
and highly explosive under certain
conditions. You could be burned or
seriously injured if it is misused or
mishandled. Always stop engine
and do not smoke or allow open
flames or sparks near the vehicle
when refueling.
. Do not attempt to top off the fuel
tank after the fuel pump nozzle
shuts off automatically. Continued
refueling may cause fuel overflow,
resulting in fuel spray and possibly
a fire.
. Use only an original equipment type
fuel-filler cap as a replacement. It
has a built-in safety valve needed
for proper operation of the fuel
system and emission control sys-
tem. An incorrect cap can result in a
serious malfunction and possible
injury. It could also cause the mal-
function indicator light to come on.
. Never pour fuel into the throttle
body to attempt to start your vehi-
cle.

FUEL-FILLER DOOR

.Do not fill a portable fuel container
in the vehicle or trailer. Static elec-
tricity can cause an explosion of
flammable liquid, vapor or gas in
any vehicle or trailer. To reduce the
risk of serious injury or death when
filling portable fuel containers:
— Always place the container on
the ground when filling.
— Do not use electronic devices when filling.
— Keep the pump nozzle in contact with the container while you are
filling it.
— Use only approved portable fuel containers for flammable liquid.
CAUTION
. The LOOSE FUEL CAP warning
message will be displayed if the
fuel-filler cap is not properly tigh-
tened. It may take a few driving trips
for the message to be displayed.
Failure to tighten the fuel-filler cap
properly after the LOOSE FUEL CAP
warning message is displayed may cause the
Malfunction Indicator
Light (MIL) to illuminate.
. Failure to tighten the fuel-filler cap
properly may cause the
mal-
function indicator light (MIL) to
illuminate. If the
light illumi-
nates because the fuel-filler cap is
loose or missing, tighten or install
the cap and continue to drive the
vehicle. The
light should turn off
after a few driving trips. If the
light does not turn off after a few
driving trips, have the vehicle in-
spected by a NISSAN dealer.

. If fuel is spilled on the vehicle body,
flush it away with water to avoid
paint damage.

LOOSE FUEL CAP warning messageGUID-1DD15840-E56B-4479-8544-E8BA98B7E825The LOOSE FUEL CAP warning message is
displayed on the twin trip computer when the
fuel-filler cap is not tightened correctly after the
vehicle has been refueled. It may take a few
driving trips for the message to be displayed. To
turn off the warning message, do the following
procedure:
1. Remove and install the fuel-filler cap as
previously described as soon as possible.
2. Tighten the fuel-filler cap until a single click is heard.
3. Push the trip computer mode switch

about 1 second to turn off the LOOSE FUEL
