Cleanin g the headlights* . The headlight wash ­
er system* op erates on ly when the headlights
a re on. If you move the lever to pos ition

A WARNING
- The ra in sensor is only intended to assist
the driver . The dr iver is still responsible
for manually sw itching the w ipers on ac­
co rding to the vis ibility conditions .
- The windshie ld may not be treated w it h
water-repe lling windshie ld coat ing
age nts. Unfavorable conditions, such as
wetness , darkness, low sun, can res ult in
incre ase d gla re. Wiper b lade ch atter is
also possible .

- In the c ase of fro st, check whether the
winds hield wiper blad es are frozen to
the windshie ld. Switching on the wind ­
s h ield wipers can damage the wiper
blades!
- Prior to using a car wash, the win dshield
wipe r system must be switched
off (lever
i n position @). This helps to prevent un ­
i ntent ional sw itchi ng on and damage to
t h e windshie ld w iper system .
- The w indshield wipers are switched
off
when the ignition is turned off . Activate
the windshie ld w ipers afte r the ignit ion
i s sw itched back on by mov ing t he wind­
s h ield wiper leve r to any pos it io n.
- Worn or dirty windsh ie ld w iper blades
r esult in streaking . T h is can affect the
r ain senso r* function . Ch eck your wind­
s h ield wiper blades regularly.
- The was her fluid nozzles of the wind­
s h ield washer system are heated at low
temper atures w hen the ignit ion i s on.
- When stop ping temporarily , (e.g. at a
traff ic light) the se t speed of the wi nd- shield wipers is automatically
reduced by
one s peed.

A WARNING
- If the windshield wipers smear the wind­
shield, clean the wiper blades with wind­
shield washer fluid .
If the wiper blades
are extremely dirty, you can also clean
them with a soft sponge or cloth.
- For your safety, you should replace the
wiper blades once or twice a year . See
your authorized Audi dealer for replace­ ment blades.
(D Note
- The windshield wiper blades must only
be replaced when in the service position!
Otherwise, you risk damaging the paint
on the hood or the windshield wiper mo­
tor.
- You should not move your vehicle or
press the windshield wiper lever when
the wiper arms are folded away from the
windshield. The windshield wipers would
move back into their original position
and could damage the hood and wind­
shield.
- To help prevent damage to the wiper sys­
tem, always loosen blades which are fro­
zen to the windshield before operating
wipers.
- To help prevent damage to wiper blades,
do not use gasoline, kerosene, paint
thinner, or other solvents on or near the
wiper blades.
- To help prevent damage to the wiper arms or other components, do not at­
tempt to move the wipers by hand.
@ Tips
- Commercial hot waxes applied by auto­ matic car washes affect the how easily
the glass surface can be cleaned.
- You can also use the service position, for example, if you want to protect the
windshield from icing by using a cover .

Switching the compass on and off

The compass direction is shown in the rear­
view mirror.

The digital compass only works when the igni­
tion is on . The directions are indicated with
abbreviations:
N (north), NE (northeast), E
(east), SE (southeast), S (south) , SW (south­
west),
W (west), NW (northwest).
(D Tips
To prevent inaccurate compass readings,
do not bring any remote controls, electri­
cal devices or metallic objects near the mirror.

Windows
Clear vision to all sides.
Clean all windows regularly to remove road
film and car wash wax buildup.
• Remove snow from windows using a brush.
• Use a plastic ice scraper to remove ice from
windows and mirrors.
• Remove other residue on the windows with
a spray-on glass cleaner .
• Wipe the windows dry w ith a clean p iece of
cloth or kitchen paper towel.
The best way to remove snow from windows
and mirrors is to use a brush. Use a non -abra­
sive
p la stic ic e scrap er -better still, a spray
de icer - to remove
ic e from windows and mir­
r ors.
T he windows must not be cleaned with insect
remover or wax s ince these can interfere with
the function of the w indshield wiper blades
(chatter).
O il, grease, or silicone residue can be removed
w ith
glass cleaner or silicon e re mover. H ow­
ever, wax residue requ ires the use of a special­
l y form ulated solvent. P lease contact your au­
thor ized Audi dealer for adv ice on safe prod­
ucts for wax removal.
W indows shou ld a lso be cleaned on the inside
at regular i nterva ls.
Never dry w indows with the same chamois
that you use to dry painted surfaces . Wax resi­
due on the chamois can impair vision through
the windows.

- The windshie ld m ust not be treated with
water-repe llent m aterials. They can i n­
crease glare under poor visib ility condi ­
tions such as wetness, darkness, or whe n
the sun is low on the horizon . In addi­
t ion, they can cause the windshield wip­
ers to chatter.
Cleaning and protec tion
@ Note
- Never use warm or hot water to remove
snow and ice from w indows and mirrors .
Th is could cause the glass to crack.
- To prevent damage to the wires of the
rear defogger, do not place any adhesive
st ickers on the ins ide of the rear w indow
over the wires.
- To help prevent dirt from scratching the window, always scrape in a forward di­
rection - pushing the scraper away from
you - never back and forth.
- Water leak ing from the inside of the rear
w indows may damage sens itive electrical
compone nts located either under the
rear parcel shelf or in the rear trunk area.
Always ensure tha t water never lea ks
t hro ugh the body section of the vehicle.
Yo u can do th is by using waterproof pro ­
tection over the vehicle's electrical com­
ponents (e.g . when install ing window
tinting) .
- Damage or malfunction of electrical
components due to water damage or any
other o utside infl uence is not covered by
the Audi New Veh icle Limited Warranty.

Cast (light) alloy wheels
Cast (light) alloy wheels require special care .
• Wash the wheels with a sponge or hose
brush every other week.
• For deep clean ing afterwards, use on ly a
ded icated
acid-fr ee cast alloy wheel cleaner .
• Rub a coat of
liquid wa x onto the rims every
three month. Be su re to reach and treat all
pa rts of the rim.
To preserve the decorative appearance of the cast alloy wheels, some special care is neces­
sary. In addi tion to road dirt and salt, brake
dust is also co rrosive . If left on fo r too long,
brake dust can cause pitting.
