Park assist
Parking system
Applies to vehicles: with pa rking system plus/pa rking sys ­
tem (rear, with rear vi ew camera)
The parking system may be used for parking
or maneuvering .
Depending on yo ur vehicle's equipment, va ri­
ous parking a ids w ill help yo u when park ing
and maneuve ring .

For the parking system (rear , with rear view
c amera ),
the rear acoust ic par k assis t sys tem
i s in tegrated in the rear of t he ve hicl e and the
rear view came ra is integ rated in the rear lid
~ page 110. The parking system ( rear, with
rear view came ra) uses ultrasonic sensors to
determ ine the distance of the vehicle from a
detected obstacle. There are a total of four
se nsors located on the rear bumper (two i n
the m iddle and two on t he sides) .
A WARNING
Make sure the sensors are no t covered by
st icke rs, d eposits or any other obst ruc­
ti on s as i t m ay im pair the sensor function.

Parking system plus
Description
Applies to vehicles: with p ark ing system p lus
Audi parking system plus provides audio and
visual signals when parking.
Sensors are located in the front and rear
b umpers. If these detect an obstacle, visual
and audible s ignals warn you . The range at
which t he sensors beg in to measure is approx­
imately:

Using the segments, you can est imate the dis­
tance to an object i n front of or behind the ve ­

been reached when the next to last segment
is displayed. Do not continue driving farther

-The parking system cannot rep lace the
dr iver's attention. The d river is always re­
sponsibl e fo r saf ety d uring pa rking and
for all o ther maneuver s.
- Senso rs and cameras have blind spots in
w hic h peop le and objects can not be de­
t e cte d. Be especially cau tio us of children
and animals .
- Always keep your eyes on the veh icle's
surroun dings, using the re ar view mirro r
as well .
@ Note
L ow obstacles al ready signa led by a warn­
ing can disappear from the system's detec­
tion range as they are app roached and will
no t continue to be signa le d. Objects such
as bar rier cha ins, trailer draw ba rs, thin
painted vertical po les o r fences may not be
detected by the system , posing risk of
damage.

- You can change the volume and p itch of
the signals as well as the display

Vehicles with the pa rking system are equipped
with a
rear v iew camera in addit ion to the
acoustic parking system.
You can choose between two modes to assist
yo u w ith parking. For example, you can use
"parking model" when parking in a park ing
space or garage ¢

To open the garage door, press the button,
but do not press it for longer ten seconds

Programming the button

Remote con tro l units fo r garage door opene rs
in Canada are se t to stop transmit ting radio
frequency signa ls after two seconds . This t ime
may not be sufficient for the Home Link sys­
tem to learn the radio frequency signal. Per ­
form all other steps as described above.
Erasing/Cl earing th e programmed button
s etting s
.. To erase all of the programmed buttons at
the same time, select:

gr am settings > Yes .
The programmed but­
tons can not be erased individua lly . Repro­
gram the buttons if necessary .

manner that you would for the one-time
programming .
Displaying the version /status /country
code

- Depend ing on the mode l of the garage
door opener, you may need to release the
button on the remote and press it again
when programming. When program­
m ing a new device, keep the button
pressed for at least 15 seconds before
t ry ing again with the transmit ter in a dif­
ferent position. Watch o ut for the emer­
gency flasher during tha t time .

@ Tips
-Programming using the Homelink but­
tons is not possible with all infotainment
systems. If this is the case, program Homelink as described in version A
<=> page 115.
-The required distance between the hand
transmitter and the Homelink module in
the radiator grille<=>

the system that you are programming.
- Depending on the model of the garage
door opener, you may need to release the
button on the remote and press it again
when programming. When program­
ming a new device, keep the button
pressed for at least 15 seconds before
trying again with the transmitter in a dif­
ferent position. Watch out for the emer­ gency flasher during that time.
Programming the rolling code
App lies to vehicles: with Home link
Additionally, a rolling code programming for
the Homelink universal remote control is re­
quired for some systems.
Identifying the rolling code
"'Press the previously programmed Homelink
button again and hold it down.
"'Look at the LED@<=>
page 114, fig. 131. If
the LED blinks quickly, the features, such as
the garage door opener, are equipped with
the rolling code.
"'Program the rolling code as follows:
Activating the garage door opener motor
unit
"'Locate the setting button on the garage
door opener motor unit. The exact location
and color of the button may vary depending
on the garage door opener manufacturer .
"'Press the setting button on the garage door
opener motor unit (usually this will activate
a "setting light display" on the motor unit).
Now you will have about
30 seconds time to
perform the HomeLink button programming
on the controls.

Programming on the controls
"'Press the Home Link button that was already
programmed and hold for two seconds.
"'To end rolling code programming , press and
hold the Home link button for two seconds
again.
"'The Homelink button may need to be press­
ed a third time to end the adjustment proce­
dure for some garage door openers .
After the controls have been programmed, the garage door opener should recognize the
Homelink signal and operate when the Home ­
Link button is pressed . Now you may program
the other buttons as needed .
(D Tips
- Programming the rolling code can be
performed quicker and more easily with
the help of a second person.
- If difficulties should arise when pro­
gramming the rolling code, consult the
operating instructions for the garage
door opener or other devices for possible
solutions.

196 Cleaning and protection
Use only special acid -free cleaners form ulated
for a lloy rims. Safe products are available at
your author ized Audi dealer . Never leave the
cleaner on the rims longer than specified on
the label.
If no t rinsed off promptly, the acid
contained in some cleaners can attack the
threads on the wheel bolts .
Never use abras ive or metal polishing clean ­
ing agents. If the protective coating has been
chipped, e .g . by k icked up road dirt, touch it
up as soon as poss ible.

- Moist ure and ice on brakes may affect
braking efficiency ~

Body cavity sealing
-
The body cavity sealing does not need to be
checked.
A ll body cavities wh ich could be affected by
corrosion have been thoroughly protected at
the facto ry.
T his sea ling does not require any inspection or
addit io nal treatment. If any wax should seep
out of the cav ity when the ambient tempera­
ture is high, it can be removed w it h a plastic
scrape r and a su itab le so lven t.
A WARNING
So lvents can be dange rous.
- B enzine is flammable and t oxic.
If you
use benzine for removing the w ax, keep
spar ks, flame and lighted cigaret tes
away. Never dump benzine on t he
ground, into open streams or down sew­
age drains.
- Be sure to observe all safety and env iron­
menta l regulations . Follow all instruc­
t ions on the container.

Have the undercoating checked for damage
from time to time.
The lower body shell of your Aud i is also thor­
oughly protected against cor ros io n.
Any damage to the unde rcoating ca used by
road ha zards should be repaired prompt ly.
A WARNING ....__
Too much undercoating in the wrong p la­
ces can cause a fire.
- Do not app ly additional undercoating or
r u stp roof ing on or near the exhaust
manifold, exhaust pipes, catalytic con­
ver ter or heat shields. While driving, the
substance used fo r undercoating could
overhea t and cause a fire.
- Always read and heed all WAR NINGS and
o ther info rmation ¢

Exhaust tail pipes
Road salt and o ther co rrosive materials w ill
damage the mate ria l in the e xhaus t ta il pipes
i f they are not cleaned regular ly . Do not clean
the tail pipes with w hee l cleaner, pa int polish,
c h rome polish or other ab rasive cleane rs .
Clean the tail pipes with car care products
t h at are suitable for sta inless steel.
Your a uthorized Audi dea ler can prov ide clean ­
ing products that have been tested and ap­
proved for your vehicle .
Care of interior
Infotainment components
The Rad io/MM !* disp lay may be cleaned w ith
a soft cloth and comme rcially-ava ilable "LCD
cl eaner". The clot h should be coated lightly
whe n the cleaning solution w hen clea ning t he
display.
T he M MI* con trols m ust be clean ed first wi th
a b rush so tha t dirt does not en ter the uni t or
enter between the buttons an d the housing.
