Locking the front passenger's door/rear
doors* with the mechanical key
Th e emergency lock is located on the rea r sid e
of the fron t passe nger's door a nd t he rea r
doors.

On ce the front passenger 's do orrear doo rs *
close, you canno t open them ag ain from t he
outside. The door can be o pened from the in ­
side by pulling the doo r handle . If the c hild
safety loc k in a rear door* is act ivated, you
must first pull the door hand le on the ins ide.
Then you can open the door from the outside .

After the ign ition is switched on, the pow­
er l ock ing system switch and the unlocking
button fo r the rea r lid~ in the door are
e na bled.
Electronic immobilizer
The immobilizer prevents your vehicle from
being started by unauthorized persons .
Inside the key there is a computer chip. This
c h ip automat ica lly act ivates/deactiva tes the
electron ic immobilizer .
Applies to vehicles with ignition lock:
The electronic immobilize r deact ivates auto ­
matically when yo u inse rt the remote contro l
key into the ign ition lock.
It activates again
automa tica lly w hen you remove the remote
control key from th e ignition lock .
Applies to vehicles with convenience key:
If the remote control key is located inside t he
vehicle and you press the
I S TART ENGI NE STOP I button, the electro nic
immob il izer deactivates automat ica lly. If you
swi tch the ign it ion off and remov e the remote
co ntrol key from the vehicle, the el ectronic
immob ili zer ac tiva tes aga in a utoma tically.
_& WARNING
-
Alw ays t ake the key wit h you when you
l eave the vehicle . The key can disa rm the
e lectronic engine immobilize r and permi t
an una uthorized person to start the engine
and enable opera tion of the vehicle sys­
tems such as power w indow o r power sun­
roof leading to se rious pe rsonal injury.

- The ve hicl e cannot be started if an una u­
thorized key is used. The vehicle may not
start i f anot her radio device s uch as a key
for another ve hicle or a transponder is
located on t he key ring .

The trunk escape handle is to be used only
in an emergency .

Power windows
Controls
The driver can operate the window regulator
for the driver's door with the left switch and the window regulator for the passenger 's
door with the right switch .

The power window sw itches have a tw o-posi­
tion function :
Opening the windows
• Press the switch to the first stop and hold it
until the w indow reaches t he des ired pos i­
t io n.
• Press the sw itch br ie fly to the
s e cond stop
to automa tically open the window .
Closing the windows
• Pull the switch to the first stop and hold it
unt il the w indow rea ches t he des ired pos i­
t ion.
• Pu ll the switch brief ly to the
second stop to
automatica lly close the window .
A WARNING
--W hen you leave your ve hicle -even if on-
ly br iefly- always remove t he ignition
key . Th is app lies pa rticularly when chil­
d ren remai n in the vehicle. Otherwise t he
chi ldren could sta rt the eng ine o r ope r­
a te ele ctric al eq uipment (e.g . power w in­
dows). The power w indows are function­
a l until the dr iver's door or passenger's
door has been opened .
- Pay close attention w hen closing the win­
dows to p revent pinching of hands o r
limbs.
- W hen locking the vehicle from outside,
the vehicle must be u noccupied since t he
windows can no longer be opened in an
emergency .
(D Tips
-When you open the doors, the windows
automatically lowe r abo ut 10 mm.
- After the ignition has been switched off,
the windows can st ill be opene d or
closed for about 10 mi nutes. The win­
dow regu lators are not sw itched until
the driver's or passenger's door is
opened.
Convenience opening/closing
The windows and the panoramic tilting sun­
roof can be opened and closed with the me­
chanical key or the emergency key .

- You must always watch when the win­
dows are being ra ised so that no one can
be trapped. If you release the key, the
closing action is immediately canceled.

Correcting window regulator
malfunction
After disconnecting the vehicle battery, the
one-touch up and down feature must be acti­
vated again.
.. Pull and hold t he power w indow switch un­
ti l the window is completely closed .
.. Re lease the switch and pull the switch again
for one second.

After the ignition is switched off, you can still
operate the sunroof for about 10 minutes. As
soon as the driver's o r passenger's doo r is
opened, the switch is inoperative.
Sun blind
The sun blind can be opened and closed man­
ually in any posit ion.
A WARNING
Pay careful attention when closing the
sunroof -otherw ise serio us in jury could re­
sult! For this reason, always remove the ig­
nition key when leaving the vehicle .
(D Note
Always close your sun roof when leav ing
your vehicle . Sudden rain can cause dam­
age to the interior equipment of your vehi­
cle, particu larly the electronic equipment.

Emergency closing of the panoramic
tilting sunroof
If the sunroof detects an object in its path
when it is closing , it will open again a utomati ­
cally. In this case, you can close the roof with
the power emergency closing function .
.. Within five seconds after the sunroof opens
automatically, pull the switch until the roof
closes .
Valet parking
The valet parking feature protects the lug­
gage comportment from unau thorized ac­
cess .

You can switch the "va let par kin g f unct ion" o n
when someone else is pa rk ing yo ur vehicle.
When the function is switched on, the vehicle
can be driven, locked and unlocked us ing the
master key, but access to the luggage com­
partment is not permitted .

When the light switch is in the A UTO

page 43 position, the switch-on po int of the
lights can be changed in the automatic driving
light function.
Daytime running lights
USA m odel s:
You can switch the dayt ime run­
ni ng lights
on and o ff .
Canada mod els:
The function cannot be
turned off .
It is activated a utomat ica lly each
time the ignition is switched on.
Travel mode*
The headlight beam is asymmetrical. This pro­
v ides stronger illum ination on the side of the
road on wh ich you are driving .
If you are driv­
i ng in a count ry that d rives on the opposite
side of the road from your own country, th is
will cau se glare for on coming dr ivers. To pre­
vent glare:
- Trave l mode must be selected in vehicles
with Xenon headlights*.
- In veh icles with halogen headlights, ce rtain
areas of the head light lenses must be cov­
ered w ith wate rproof adhesive covers that
prevent light from passing thro ugh. Fo r

When trave l mode is activated, a display in
the dr iver information system indicates

Emergency flashers

The emergency flashers makes other moto­
rists aware that you or your vehicle are in an
emergency situation .

When the emergency flas hers are on, all four
turn signals b link at the same time. The turn
s ignal indicator lights

cluster, as well as the light in the emergency
flasher switch ~ blink likewise.
You can indicate a lane change or a t urn w hen
the emergency flashers are switched on by us­
ing the turn signal lever. The emergency flash­
ers stop temporarily.
T he emergency flashers also work when the
ignition is turned off.
T he emergency flashers wi ll turn on a utomat i­
ca lly if yo u are in an accident where the airbag
has deployed.

You sho uld turn on the emergency f las hers
when:
- yo u are the last veh icle standing in a t raf ­
fic jam so that any other vehi cles coming
can see you, or whe n
- your vehicle has bro ken down or you are
in an emergency s ituation, o r when
- yo ur vehicle is be ing towed by a tow
truck or if you are tow ing another vehicle
beh ind you.

60 Seats and st o rage
• To adjust the arm @, swing it in the direc­
tion of the arrow .
• Place the beverage in the holder and release
the arm. The arm swings back by itself and
automatically secures the beverage.
Clo sing cuphold ers
• To close the cupholder, press on the center
section between the two arms and push the
cupholder in the s lot as far as it will go.
A WARNING
Spilled hot liquid can cause an accident
and personal i njury .
-
-Never carry any beverage containers with
hot liquids, such as hot coffee or hot tea,
in the vehicle while it is moving. In case
of an accident, sudden braking or other
vehicle movement, hot liqu id could spill,
causing sca ld ing bur ns. Sp illed hot liq uid
can also ca use an accident and persona l
injury.
- Use only soft cups in the cuphol der. H ard
c u ps and g lasses can ca use in jury in an
accident.
- Never use the cupho lder or adapter as an
ashtray- risk of fire.
@ Note
On ly dr ink containe rs with lids should be
car ried in the cupho lde r. Liqu id could sp ill
out and damage your veh icle's e lectronic
equipment or stain the upholstery, etc.
Glove compartment
The glove compar tment is illuminated and
can be locked.

• To open the g love compartment, pull the

• To close the glove compartment, push the
glove compartment lid upward until the lock
engages.

On the right side in the glove compartment is
a holder with the key body into which the
emergency key must be clipped to be able to
start the vehicle.
A WARNING
--To reduce the risk of pe rsonal injury in an
accident or sudden stop, always keep the
glove compartment closed while d riving .
Additional storage
The re are a var iety of storage compartments
and fasteners in various places in the veh icle.
- In the roof headliner above the rearv iew
m irror.
- On the back of the front seat . The compart­
ment can hold a maximum we ight of 1 kg .
- On the left and right of the luggage com­
partment, behind the side trim.
- Garment hooks on the pillars in the rear of
the vehicle.
A WARNING
-- When driving, do not leave any hard ob -
jects on the rear w indow shelf o r allow
your pet to sit on the shelf. They co uld
become a hazard fo r vehicle occupants in
the event of sudden braking or a cr ash.
- Always remove objects from the instru­
men t panel. A ny item s not stored could
slide around inside the vehicle wh ile dr iv­
ing or when acce le rat ing or when app ly ­
ing the brakes or when driving around a
corner.
- When you are driving make sure that
anything you may have placed in the cen­
ter conso le or other storage locations

cannot fall out into the footwells. In case
of sudden braking you would not be able
to brake or accelerate.
- Any articles of clothing that you have
hung up must not interfere with the driv­
er's v iew. The coat hooks are designed
only for lightweight clothing. Never hang any clothing w ith hard, pointed or heavy
objects in the pockets on the coat hooks.
During sudden braking or in an accident -
especially if the airbag is deployed -
these objects cou ld injure any passen­
gers inside the vehicle .
- To reduce the r isk of personal injury in an
accident or sudden stop, always keep the
glove compartment closed while driving.
- Read and fo llow all WARN INGS
~ page 161, Important safety instruc­
tions on the side airbag system.
- Hang clothes in such a way that they do
not impair the driver's vision .
- T he coat hooks must only be used for
lightweight clothing. Do not leave any
heavy or sharp edged objects in the pock­
ets which may interfere with the side cur­
tain airbag deployment and can cause personal injury in a crash.
- Do not use coat hangers for hanging clothing on the coat hooks as this can in­
terfere with proper deployment of the
side curtain airbags in an accident.
- Do not hang heavy objects on the coat
hooks, as they could cause personal in­
jury in a sudde n stop.
- Always keep the compartment above the
rearview mirror closed while driving to
reduce the risk of injury in the event of
sudden braking maneuvers or a col lision.

Objects located on the rear shelf that rub
aga inst the rear w indow cou ld damage the
heating wires for t he rear w indow defog­
ger.

-A vent slot is located between the shelf
and the rear w indow . Do not block the
vent with any items you may place on the
rear window she lf.
- Do not place bu lky items on the rear win­
dow shelf as they could restrict or block
the driver's vision in the rear view m irror.
Roof rack
Description and mounting location s
Additional cargo can be carried with a roof
luggage rack.

.,. Always read and follow the i nstructions pro­
vided by the roof rack manufacturer when
installing the roof rack system.
If luggage or cargo is to be carried on the
roof, you must observe the fo llowing:
- Yo ur vehicle has aerodynam ic rai n gutters
mo lded into the roof. This is why conven­
tional roof luggage racks cannot be used.
We recommend using roof racks from the
Audi orig inal accessories program.
- On ly use roof racks approved for your vehi­
cle. These approved roof racks are the bas is
for a complete roof rack system. Addit ional
attachments or carrier systems are needed
to transport luggage and sports equipment.
We recommend using roof racks from the
Audi orig inal accessories program .
- When installing the roof rack, make sure it
is only mounted on the designated locations
on the roof
