Hazard warning indication
lamps
E00501700361
These
indication lamps blink in the fol-
lowing situations. • When the turn-signal lever ismoved to activate a turn-signal
lamp.
Refer to “Turn-signal lever”
on page 3-49.
• When the hazard warning flash- er switch is pressed to activate
the hazard warning lamps.
Refer to “Hazard warning flash-
er switch” on page 3-49.
• When the hazard warning lamps automatically activate
due to sudden braking while
driving.
Refer to “Emergency stop sig-
nal system” on page 4-38.
NOTE l If these indication lamps blink too
fast due to any operation other
than sudden braking, the cause
may be a blown lamp bulb or a faul-
ty turn-signal connection. High-beam indication lamp

(diesel-powered vehicles)
E00502300247
This
indicates the glow plug preheat con-
dition.
[Except for vehicles equipped with key-
less operation system]
When the ignition switch is turned to the
“ON” position, the lamp illuminates. As
the glow plug becomes hot, the lamp
goes out and the engine can be started.
[For vehicles equipped with keyless op-
eration system]
When the operation mode is put in ON,
the lamp illuminates and preheating of
the glow lamp starts automatically. As
the glow plug becomes hot, the lamp
goes out and the engine starts. NOTE
l If
the engine is cold, the diesel pre-
heat indication lamp is on for a lon-
ger time.
l When the engine is warm, the die-
sel preheat indication lamp does
not come on even if the ignition
switch is turned to the “ON” posi-
tion or the operation mode is put
in ON. Instruments and controls

• Turn the lamp switch to the “OFF” posi-
tion.
• Close the driver’s door.
l When the engine was started using the key-
less operation function, if the driver’s door is
opened and the operation mode is put in
OFF, the lamp monitor buzzer sounds at a
high pitch intermittently.
The buzzer stops when the driver’s door is
closed. (The warning is also displayed on the
multi-information display.)
The buzzer stops in the following manner.
• Turn the lamp switch to the “OFF” posi-tion.
• Close the driver’s door.
Lamp monitor buzzer E00506100559
[When the engine was started using the key]
If
the driver’s door is opened when the key is in the
“LOCK” or “ACC” position or removed from the
ignition switch while the lamps are on, a buzzer
will sound to remind the driver to turn off the lamps.
[When the engine was started using the keyless op-
eration function]
If the driver’s door is opened when the operation
mode is in ACC or OFF with the lamps illumina-
ted, a buzzer will sound to remind the driver to turn
off the lamps.
In both cases, the buzzer will automatically stop if
the auto-cutoff function is activated, the lamp
switch is turned off, or the door is closed. Dipper (High/Low beam change)
E00506200329
When
the lamp switch is in the “ ”
position, the
beam changes from high to low (or low to high)
each time the lever is pulled fully (1). While the high-
beam is on, the high-beam indication lamp in the in-
strument cluster will also illuminate. Headlamp flasher
E00506300199
The high-beams flash when the lever is pulled slight-
ly (2), and will go off when it is released.
When
the high-beam is on, the high-beam indica-
tion lamp in the instrument cluster will illuminate.
NOTE
l The high-beams can also flash when the
lamp switch is OFF.
l If you turn the lamps off with the headlamps
set to high-beam, the headlamps are automat-
ically returned to their low-beam setting
when the lamp switch is next turned to the
“ ” position.Welcome light*

The angle of the headlamp beam varies depending
on the load carried by the vehicle.
The
headlamp levelling switch can be used to ad-
just the headlamp illumination distance (when the
lower beam is illuminated) so that the headlamps’
glare does not distract other drivers.
Set the switch according to the following table. CAUTION

of
the headlamps (beam position) depending on
changes in the condition of the vehicle, such as the
number of occupants or luggage weight. When the
headlamps are illuminated with the ignition switch
or the operation mode in ON, the beam position of
the headlamps is automatically adjusted when the
vehicle is stopped. Headlamp automatic levelling system warning dis-

Replacement of lamp bulbs
E01003100488
Before
replacing a bulb, ensure the lamp is off. Do
not touch the glass part of the new bulb with your
bare fingers; the skin oil left on the glass will evap-
orate when the bulb gets hot and the vapour will
condense on the reflector and dim the surface. CAUTION
l
Bulbs
are extremely hot immediately af-
ter being turned off.
When replacing a bulb, wait for it to cool
sufficiently before touching it. You could
otherwise be burnt.
NOTE l If
you are unsure of how to carry out the
work as required, we recommend you to con-
sult a specialist.
l Be careful not to scratch the vehicle body
when removing a lamp or lens.
l When it rains or when the vehicle has been
washed, the inside of the lens sometimes be-
comes foggy. This is the same phenomenon
as when window glass mists up on a humid
day, and does not indicate a functional prob-
lem.
When the lamp is switched on, the heat will
remove the fog. However, if water gathers in-
side the lamp, we recommend you to have
the lamp checked.

l Always
consult a specialist when repair-
ing or replacing the bulbs of high intensi-
ty discharge headlamps.
This is because the power circuit, bulbs
and electrodes generate a high voltage
that could cause an electric shock.

LED, not a bulb, is used in the side turn-
signal lamp (on outside rear-view mirror).
Contact a MITSUBISHI MOTORS Author-
