Thefrontpassengerseatinyourvehicle hasa

Airbag
Systeminit. Thesepartsincludethe
weight-sensingmat,sensors,wiring, brack
ets,andmore.Thefunctionofthesystemin
thefrontpassengerseatischeckedbythe
electroniccontrolunitwhentheignitionison.
The
controlunitmonitorstheAdvancedAir
bagSystemandturnstheairbagindicator
light on
whenamalfunctioninthesystem
componentsisdetected.Thefunctionofthe
airbagindicatorlightisdescribedingreater
detailbelow. Becausethefrontpassenger
seatcontainsimportantpartsoftheAd
vanced AirbagSystem,youmusttakecareto
preventitfrombeingdamaged.Damageto
theseatmaypreventtheAdvanced Airbagfor
thefrontpassengerseatfromdoingitsjobin
acrash.
Thefront Advanced AirbagSystem
consistsofthefollowing:
- Crashsensorsinthefrontofthevehiclethat
measurevehicleacceleration/deceleration

(selfdiagnostics).
ThesystemmustbeinspectedwhentheindicatorIight1:

switchedon,

bag.

occupantwhoisoutofposition and
tooclosetotheairbaggetsinthewayofan
inflating airbag.
Whenanoccupantistoo
close,heorshewillbestruck violentlyand
willreceiveseriousorpossibly evenfatalIn
jury.
In
orderfortheairbagtooffer protection, itis
importantthatallvehicleoccupants,especlal
lyany children,whomustbeinthefrontseat
becauseofexceptionalcircumstances, be
properly
restrainedandasfarawayfromthe
airbagaspossible.Bykeeping roombetween
thechild'sbodyandthefrontofthepassen
gercompartment,theairbagcaninflate com
pletely
andprovidesupplementalprotection
incertainfrontalcollisions.
Booster
seatsraisethesechildren
upsothat
thesafetybeltwill pass properly overthe
strongerpartsoftheirbodiesandthesafety
beltcanhelpprotecttheminacrash.
•Donotusetheconvertible lockingretractor
whenusingthevehicle'ssafetybelttore
strain achild ona
boosterseat.
•Always positiontheshoulderportionofthe
safetybeltmidway overthechild'sshoulder.
