Important safet ynotes ATTENTION ASSIS
Thelps you during long,
monotonous jour neys such as on motorways
and trun kroads. It is active in the 80 km /h
to 180 km/ hrange.
If ATTENTION ASSIS Tdetects typical indica-

centration on the part of the driver, it sug-
gests takin gabreak. G
WARNING
ATTENTIO NASSIST is only an aid and may

Important safet ynotes In addition to the illumination provided by the
normal headlamps, Night View Assist Plus
uses infrared light to illuminat
ethe road. The
Night View Assist Plus camer apicksupt he
infrared light and displays amonochrome
image in COMAND. The image displayed in
COMAN Dcorresponds to aroad lit up by
main-beam headlamps. This enables you to
see the road's course and any obstacles in
good time. When pedestrian recognition is
active, pedestrians recognised by the system
ar eh ighlighted in the Night View Assist Plus
display. G
WARNING
Night View Assist Plus is only an aid designed
to assist driving and does not relieve you of
the responsibility to pay attention. Continue
to look through the windscreen instead of
relyin gont he Night View Assist Plus display.
You ar eresponsible for safet yand must drive
in accordance with traffic conditions .You
coul dotherwis eendange ryoursel fand oth-

tion if:
R there is poo rvisibility, e.g. due to snow,
rain, fog or spray.
R the windscreen is dirty, misted up or cov-
ered, for instance by asticker, in the vicinity
of the camera.
R on bends ,onuphill gradients or downhill
gradients.
Light from the headlamps of oncoming vehi-
cles does not affect the Night View Assist Plus
display in the multifunction display. This is
also the case if you cannot switch on the
main-beam headlamps due to oncomin gtraf-
fic. G
WARNING
Night View Assis tPlus does not detect
object sinthe immediat evicinity of the vehi-
cle. Look through the windscreen when
manoeuvring. Make sure that there are no
people or animals in the area in which you are
manoeuvring.
i Infrared light is not visible to the human
eye and therefore does not dazzle. Night
View Assist Plus can therefore remain
switched on even if there is oncomin gtraf-

Pedestrian recognition G
WARNING
Pedestrian recognition may be impaired or
inoperative if:
R pedestrians are partiall yorentirely
obscured by obje cts, e.g. by parked vehi-
cles.
R the silhouett eofthe pedestrian in the Night
View Assist Plus displa yisincomplete or
interrupted, e.g. by powerful ligh treflec-
tions.
R pedestrians do not contrast with the sur-
roundings.
R pedestrians are not in an upright position,
e.g. sitting, squattin gorlying.
i Animals are not recognised by pedestrian
recognition.
Night View Assist Plus is able to recognise
pedestrians by typical characteristics, e.g. a
silhouette in the shape of aperson.
Pedestrian recognition is then switched on
automatically if:
R Night View Assist Plus is activa ted.
R you are driving faster than about 10 km/ h.
R the surrounding sare dark ,e.g.w hen driv-
ing outside built-up areas without street
lighting.
If pedestrian recognition is active ,sym-

lighted. If the pedestrian recognition system
has brought apedestrian to your atten tion,

itoring range of the sensors
Blind Spot Assist monitors the area up to
three metres behind you rvehicle and direc tly
next to you rvehicle, as shown in the diagram. G
WARNING
Blin dSpot Assist monitors cer tain areas in the
immediate vicinit yofyour vehicle. Vehicles
that approach and driv epast at high speeds
are not detected. There is no display and no
warning.
If the lanes are very wide, it may not be pos-
sible to monitor the complete width of the
neighbouring lane. For this reason, vehicles in
the next lane may not be detected, especially
if they are driving in astaggered formation in
different lanes .This ma ybethe case if vehi-
cles ar edriving at th eedge of their lane that
is furthest away from your vehicle.
Alway spay attention to traffic conditions and
your surroundings. Otherwise ,you may fai lto
recognis edangers in time, cause an accident
and injure yourself and others.
If the lanes are narrow, vehicles driving in the
lane beyond the lane next to your vehicle may
be indicated, especially if the vehicles are not
driving in the middle of their lane. This may
be the case if the vehicles are driving on the
inner side of their lane. Due to the nature of the system:
R
warnings may be issue dine rror when driv-
ing close to cras hbarriers or similar solid
lane borders.
R warnings may be interrupted when driving
alongside long vehicles, such as lorries, for
ap rolonged time.
Th et wo sensors for Blind Spot Assist are
integrated into the sides of the rear bumper.
Make sure that the bumper is free of dirt, ice
or slush in the vicinit yofthe sensors. The
radar sensor smust not be covered, for exam-
ple by cycle racks or overhanging loads .Fol-

cient illumination of the road, or due to
snow, rain, fog or spray.
R there is glare, e.g. from oncoming traffic,
the sun, or reflection from other vehicles.
R the windscreen is dirty, misted up or cov-

detected.
R the lane markings on the road are unclear,
e.g. near roadworks.
R the lane markings change quickly ,e.g.
lanes branch off, cross one another or
merge.
R the road is narrow and winding.
Lane Keeping Assist cannot detect road and
traffic conditions. It is not asubstitute for
attentive driving. You are responsible for the
vehicle's speed, braking in good time, and
steering correctly. Always adapt your driving
style to suit the prevailing road and weather
conditions. Always pay attention to traffic
conditions and your surroundings. Otherwise,
you may fail to recognise dangers in time,
cause an accident and injure yourself and oth-
