The seats can still be adjusted when there is
no key in the ignition lock. For this reason,
children should never be left unsupervised in
the vehicle. They could adjust the seats and
becom etrapped. G

Only adjust the driver' sseat when the vehicle
is stationary .You will otherwise be distracted
from the road and traffic condition sand you
could los econtrol of the vehicle as aresult of
the seat moving. This could cause an acci-
dent. G

Make sur ethat the bac kofyour head is sup-
ported at eye level by the cen tralarea of the
head restraint. If your head is not supported
correctly by th ehead restraint ,you coul dsuf-
fer asever eneck injury in the event of an
accident .Never driv eifthe head rest raints are
not engaged and set correctly.
! To avoid damage to the seats and the seat
heating, observe the following information:
R do not spill any liquids on the seats. If
liquid is spilled on the seats, dry them as
soon as possible.
R if the seat cover sare damp or wet, do not
switc hont he seat heating. The seat
heating should also not to be used to dry
the seats. R
clea nthe seat cover sasrecommended;
see the "In terior care" section.
R do not transport heav yloads on the
seats. Do not plac eshar pobjects on the
seat cushions ,e.g. knives, nails or tools.
Th es eats should only be occupied by
passengers, if possible.
R when the seat heatin gisinoperation ,do
not cover the seats with insulating mate-
rials, e.g. blanke ts,c oats, bags, seat cov-
ers, child seats or booster seats.
! When you mov ethe seats, make sur ethat
ther eare no objects in th efootwell or
behind the seats. Otherwise, you could
damage the seats and the objects.
i The head restraint sinthe fron tseats are
fit tedw ith the NECK -PRO system
(Y page 39). For this reason, it is not pos-
sibl etor emov ethe head restraint sfrom
th ef ront seats.

is automatically checked when:

3 may result in excessiv eseat temperatures.
The health of passengers that have limited
temperatur esensitivit yoralimited ability to
react to excessively high temperatures may
be affected or they may even suffer burn-like
injuries. Therefore, do not use seat heating
level 3repeatedly.
The three red indicator lamps in the button
indicat ethe heating level you hav eselected.
i If the batter yvoltage is too low, the seat

The system automatically switches off
approximately 20 minutes after it is set to
level 1.
X Make sure that the key is in position 1or
2 in the ignition lock.
X To switc hon:press button :repeatedly
until the desired heatin glevel is set.
X To switc hoff:press button :repeatedly
until all th eindicato rlamps go out.
Problems with the seat heating The seat heating has switched itself off pre-
maturely or cannot be switched on. The vehi-
cle's electrical system voltage is too low
because too many electrical consumers are
switched on.
X Switc hoff electrical consumers which you
do not need, such as th erear window heat-
ing or interior lighting. Switching the seat ventilation on/off
Switching on/off The three blue indicator lamps in the buttons
indicate the ven tilation level you have selec-
ted.
i If the battery voltage is too low, the seat
ventilation may switch off. X

until the desired ventilation level is set. i
Coupé: you can open the side windows
and the panoram asliding sunroof with the
key (Y page 75). The seat ventilation of the
driver's seat automatically switches to the
highes tlevel.
Cabriolet: you can open the soft top and the
rear side windows with the key
(Y page 78). The seat ven tilation of the
driver's seat automatically switches to the
highes tlevel.
X To switc hoff:press button :repeatedly

Problems with the seat ventilation The seat ventilation has switched itself off
prematurely or cannot be switched on. The
vehicle's electrical system voltage is too low
because too many electrical consumers are
switched on.
X Switc hoff electrical consumers which you
do not need, such as th erear window heat-
ing or interior lighting. AIRSCARF (Cabriolet)

Very hot air can flow out of the AIRSCARF
ven tsin the head restraints when AIRSCARF
is in operation. This can cause burns on unpro-
tected skin near the AIRSCARF vents. Lower
the heating output in good time, when neces-
sary.
The AIRSCARF func tion warms the head and
nec karea of vehicl eoccupants with warm air.
Th ew arm air flows out of the hole sinthe head
rest raints.
The three red indicator lamps in the button
indicate the heating level you have selected. 98

You can use the adjustable fins on the head
restraint to adjust the height of the current of
air blown out according to your height.
Make sure that there are no objects covering
the intake grille on the back of the driver's
seat backrest.
i The blower continues running for seven
seconds to cool down the heating ele-
ments.
i If the battery voltage is too low, AIRSCARF

Risk of injury
The electrically adjustable steering wheel can
still be adjusted when there is no key in the
ignition lock. Therefore, do not leave children
unsupervised in the vehicle, as they could
become trapped if the steering wheel is adjus-
ted. G
Risk of accident
Only adjust the steering wheel when the vehi-
cle is stationary and do not pull away until the
steering wheel adjustment mechanism is
locked in position. You might otherwise drive
without the steering wheel adjustment mech-
anism being locked in position. As aresult,
you could be distracted from road and traffic
condition sbyanunintentional movement of
the steering wheel and thereby cause an acci-
dent.
However, the steerability of the vehicl eisnot

Adjusting the exterior mirrors G
Risk of accident
The exterior mirrors reduce the size of the
image .Object sare actu ally closer than they
appear. You could misjudge the distance from
vehicles driving behind and cause an acci-
dent, e.g. when changing lane. For this rea-
son, make sure of the actual distance from the
vehicle driving behind by glancing over your
shoulder.
The convex exterior mirrors provide alarger
field of vision.
The exterior mirrors are automatically heated
if the rear window heating is switched on and
the outside temperature is low. X
Make sure that the key is in position 1or
2 in the ignition lock.
X Press button :for the left-hand exterior
mirror or button ;for the right-hand exte-
rior mirror.
The indicator lamp in the corresponding
button lights up in red.
The indicator lamp goes out again after
some time. You can adjust the selected
mirror using adjustmen tbutton =as long
as the indicator lamp is lit.
X Press adjustment button =up, down, to
the right or to the left until the exterior mir-
ror is se ttoaposition which provides you
with agood overview of traffic conditions.

You can deactivate the flow of fresh air if
unpleasant odours are entering the vehicle
from outside .The air already insid ethe vehi-
cle will then be recirculated. The operation of the air-recirculation mode is

briefly at low outside temperatures .Other-
wise ,the windows coul dmist up, thus impair-
ing visibility and endangering yourself and
others. This may prevent you from observing
the traffic conditions, thereby causing an
accident.
X Turn the key to position 2in the ignition
lock.
X To activate: press thegbutton.
The indicator lamp above the gbutton
lights up.
i Air-recirculation mode is activated auto-
matically at high outside temperatures.
When air-recirculation mode is activated
automatically, the indicator lamp above the
g button is not lit.
Outside air is added after about 30
minutes.
