Air conditioning system
refrigerant and lubri-
cant recommendationsIf the air conditioning seems less
effective than usual, the cause
might be a refrigerant leak. We recommend you to have the system inspected. The air conditioning system in your vehicle must be charged with the refrigerant HFC-134a
and the lubricant ND-OIL8.
Use of any other refrigerant or
lubricant will cause severe dam-
age which will result in the n
eed to replace your vehicle’s
entire air conditioning system. The release of refrigerant into the atmosphere is not recommended. The new refrigerant HFC-134a in
your vehicle will not harm
the ozone layer. It is recommended that the refr
igerant be recovered and recy-
cled for further use.During a long period of disuseThe air conditioning should be operated for at least five min- utes each week, even in cold weather. This is to prevent the compressor from seizing and to maintain the air conditioningin the best operating condition.
Air purifier (with deodorizing function)
E00708400183
An air filter is incorporated in
to the air conditioning system to
remove pollen, dust, tobacco
smells and exhaust smells.
The air filter’s ability to collect pollen and dirt is reduced as itbecomes dirty, so replace it pe
riodically. For the maintenance
interval, refer to th
e “SERVICE BOOKLET”.
NOTE●
Operation in certain conditions such as driving on a dusty road and frequent use of th
e air conditioning can lead to
reduction of service life of
the filter. When the air flow
rate suddenly drops or when the windscreen or windowsstart to fog up easily, the ai
r filter requires replacement.
We recommend you to have it checked.

Bleeding the fuel system
(diesel-powered vehicles only)
E00800700149
The fuel system should be bled to remove air as described below if the fuel supply is exhausted during travel. Pump the hand pump (A) at the top of the fuel filter until the hand pump becomes stiff. Then try again to start the engine. If the engine does not star
t, repeat the process above.
Removal of water from the fuel filter
(diesel-powered vehicles only)
E00800800140
If the fuel filter indication lamp in the instrument panel illumi- nates during driving, it indicates
that water has accumulated in
the fuel filter. If this occurs, remove the water as describedbelow. 1. Loosen the drain plug (A) at the bottom of the fuel filter.

2. Operate the hand pump (B) slowly 6 or 7 times in order to
force the water out through the drain plug.
3. Tighten the drain plug when water no longer comes out. 4. Bleed the air in the fuel system.
(Refer to “Bleeding the fu
el system” on page 6-9.)
5. Check to be sure that the fuel filter indication lamp illumi-
nates when the ignition switch is turned to “ON”, and that it goes off when the engine is started. If in doubt, we rec- ommend you to have your vehicle inspected.
CAUTION
!●
Do not smoke or have any other open flame near the vehicle while bleedin
g the fuel system.
●
Be sure to carefully clean away any water drained out because any fuel mixe
d with the water could
ignite and cause a fire.
