WerecommendthatyouhavetheengineoilchangedatyourPorschedealer,whohastherequiredoilsandthenecessaryfillingequipment.
Ifyoususpectanoilleakintheenginehaveyourdealercheckitoutimmediately.
Allcurrentengineoilsarecompatiblewitheachother,i.e.whenmakinganoilchangeitisnotnecessarytoflushtheengineifyouwishtouseadifferentbrandorgradeofoil.Since,however,eachbrandofoilhasaspecialcomposition,
youshould,ifpossible,usethesameoilbrandifitbecomesnecessarytotopupbetweenoilchanges.
Porscheengineshavelongintervalsbetweenoilchanges.Youcanmakebestuseoftheselongoilchangeintervalsbyusingmultigradeoilssincethesearelargelyindependentofseasonalfluctuationsintemperature.
Ifyourvehicleisusedfrequentlyinstop-and-gotrafficincoldweather,theenginewillnotalwaysbeproperlywarmedup.Condensationfromproductsofcombustionmayaccumulateintheoil.Inthiscase,itisadvisabletochangetheoilmorefrequentlysothatyourengineonceagainhas100%efficientoil.
Engineoilperformanceclass
Engineoilisnotonlyalubricant,butalsoservestokeeptheengineclean,toneutralizethedirtwhichpenetratesintotheenginethroughcombustionandtoprotecttheengineagainstcorrosion.Toperformthesefunctions,theoilisprovidedwithadditiveswhichhavebeenspeciallydevelopedforthesefunctions.Theefficiencyofanoilisexpressed,forexample,bytheAPI,ILSACorACEAclassifications.
Viscosity
Likeallliquids,engineoilisviscouswhencold,andthin-bodiedwhenwarm.TheviscosityofanoilisexpressedbyitsSAEclass.Forcoldviscosity(mesuredattemperaturesbelow32°F(0°C))

theSAEclassisgivenasanumberandtheletter”W“(asinwinter),forhotviscosity(measuredat212°F(100°C))theSAEclassisgivenonlyasanumber.
Theviscosityofanoilis,therefore,alwaysthesameifithasthesamenumberofanSAEclass.
Oilswithtwoviscositiesarecalledmultigradeoils;oilswithonlyoneviscosityaretermedsingle-gradeoils.
Single-gradeoilscannotbeusedinyourengine.
TheviscosityoftheengineoilforyourPorschehastobechosenaccordingtotheambienttempera-turegivenintheengineoilrecommendationtable.

Changingthebrakeuid
Brakefluidabsorbsmoisturefromtheairovertime.Thisaccumulationofwaterlowerstheboilingpointand,undercertainoperatingconditions,canaffectthebrakingaction.Thereforehavethe

FuelEconomy
Fueleconomywillvarydependingonwhere,whenandhowyoudrive,optionalequipmentinstalled,andthegeneralconditionofyourcar.Acartunedtospecicationsandcorrect-lymaintained,willhelpyoutoachieveoptimalfueleconomy.
Haveyourvehicletunedtospecifications.Aircleanershouldbedirtfreetoallowproperengine“breathing”.Batteryshouldbefullycharged.Wheelsshouldbeproperlyaligned.Tiresshouldbeinflatedtothecorrectpres-sure.
Alwaysmonitoryourfuelconsumption.
Drivesmoothly,avoidabruptchangesinspeedasmuchaspossible.
Avoidjackrabbitstartsandsuddenstops.
Donotdrivelongerthannecessaryinthelowergears.Shiftingintoahighergearearlywithoutluggingtheenginewillhelpsavefuel.
Prolonged“warmup”idlingwastesgas.Startthevehiclejustbeforeyouarereadytodrive.Accelerateslowlyandsmoothly.
Switchofftheengineifstationaryforlongerperiods(trafficlights,jams,levelcrossings).
Anyadditionalweightcarriedinthevehiclereducesfueleconomy.Alwayskeepcargotoaminimumandremoveallunnecessaryitems.
Organizeyourtripstotakeinseveralerrandsinonetrip.
Allelectricalaccessoriescontributetoincreasedfuelconsumption.
Onlyswitchontheairconditioningwhennecessary.
TheEPAestimatedmilespergallon(mpg)istobeusedforcomparisonpurposes,actualmileagemaybedifferentfromtheestimatedmpg,dependingonyourdrivingspeed,weatherconditionsandtriplength.Youractualhighwaymileagewillprobablybelessthantheestimatedmpg.

Thefuelfillingcapacityisapprox.16.9U.S.gallons(64liters),ofwhichapprox.2.64U.S.gallons(10liters)isreserve.
Porschedoesnotrecommendtheuseoffueladditives.

Procedure
1.Important:Stoptheengineandswitchofftheignition.
2.Slowlyunscrewthetankcap.Hangthetankcapontheplasticstrapofthefillerflap.
3.Insertfuel-hosenozzlefullyintothefillerneckwiththehandleofthefuel-hosenozzlefacingdown.
4.Donotaddfurtherfueloncethecorrectlyoperatedautomaticfuel-hosenozzlehasswitchedoff.Fuelcouldsprayorcouldrunoverinwarmtemperatures.
5.Replacethetankcapimmediatelyafterrefuelingandturnituntilyouhearitandfeelitengage.
Ifyoulosethetankcap,youmustreplaceitonlywithanoriginalparttoreducethepossibilityofareintheeventofacollision.
