Explanation of General MaintenanceNLS0007A
General maintenance includes those items which should be checked during the normal day-to-day operation
of the vehicle. They are essential if the vehicle is to continue operating properly. The owners can perform
checks and inspections themselves or they can have their INFINITI dealers do them.

The maintenance items listed here should be performed from time to time, unless otherwise specified.

TiresCheck the pressure with a gauge, including the spare, at least once a month
and always prior to a long distance trips. Adjust to the specified pressure if
necessary. Check carefully for damage, cuts or excessive wear.—
Wheel nutsWhen checking the tires, make sure no nuts are missing, and check for any
loose nuts. Tighten if necessary.—
WindshieldClean the windshield on a regular basis. Check the windshield at least every
six months for cracks or other damage. Repair as necessary.—
Tire rotationTires should be rotated every 12,000 km (7,500 miles).MA-35
Wheel alignment and
balanceIf the vehicle pulls to either side while driving on a straight and level road, or if
you detect uneven or abnormal tire wear, there may be a need for wheel align-
ment. If the steering wheel or seat vibrates at normal highway speeds, wheel
balancing may be needed.MA-33,

Windshield wiper
bladesCheck for cracks or wear if they do not wipe properly. —
Doors and engine
hoodCheck that all doors and the engine hood operate smoothly as well as the
trunk lid. Also make sure that all latches lock securely. Lubricate if necessary.
Make sure that the secondary latch keeps the hood from opening when the pri-
mary latch is released.
When driving in areas using road salt or other corrosive materials, check lubri-
cation frequently.MA-38
LampsMake sure that the headlamps, stop lamps, tail lamps, turn signal lamps, and
other lamps are all operating properly and installed securely. Also check head-
lamp aim. Clean the headlamps on a regular basis. —

Removal and Installation of Front Wiper Arms, Adjustment of Wiper Arms Stop

REMOVAL
1. Turn wiper switch ON to operate wiper motor, and then turn wiper switch OFF (auto stop).
2. Open hood, remove arm caps, and remove wiper arm nuts.
3. Raise wiper arms, and remove wiper arms from the vehicle.
INSTALLATION
1. Clean up the pivot area as shown in the figure. This will reduce
possibility of wiper arm looseness.
2. Prior to wiper arm installation, turn on wiper switch to operate
wiper motor and then turn it “OFF” (auto stop).
3. Push wiper arm onto pivot shaft, paying attention to blind spline.
4. Lift the blade up and then set it down onto glass surface to set
the blade center to clearance “L1” & “L2” immediately before
tightening nuts.
5. Spray washer fluid. Turn on wiper switch to operate wiper motor
and then turn it “OFF”.
6. Make sure that wiper blades stop within clearance “L1” & “L2”.
Tighten wiper arm nuts to specified torque.
7. Attach wiper arm caps.
