5IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM
B030B01NF-GAT Record Your Key Number
A code number is recorded on the number tag that came with the keys to your Hyundai. This key number tag should not be left with the keys but keptin a safe place, not in the vehicle. The key number should also be recorded in a place where it can be found in anemergency. If you need additional keys, or if you should lose your keys, your authorized Hyundai dealer can make new keys if you can supply the key number. B880A01A-GAT (If Installed) The immobilizer system is an anti-theft device, designed to deter automobiletheft. B880B01MC-GAT Keys All of the locks fitted to the vehicle are operated by the same key. However, since it is possible to lock the doors without the use of the key, care shouldbe exercised to ensure that the key does not become locked inside the vehicle by mistake. NOTE: If you make your own duplicate key, you will not be able to cancel thesystem or start the engine.

The vehicle key number is recorded upon a number tag attached to the keyswhen the vehicle is first delivered to you.

CAUTION:
When starting the engine, do not use the key with other immobilizer keys around. Otherwise the engine may not start or may stop soon after it
starts. Keep each keys separately not to have any malfunction after you receive your new vehicle.

NOTE: You can get the limp home pass- word when the vehicle is first deliv- ered to you. If you do not have thepassword, consult your authorized Hyundai dealer.
1. To set the password you may turn
the ignition key "ON" and then turn it "OFF" according to the digit num-bers, then the immobilizer indicator will blink along with the operation of the ignition key. For example, turnthe ignition key once for digit number "1", and twice for "2", and so on. However, for the digit number "0",you must turn the ignition key for 10 times.
2. Wait for 3~10 seconds.
3. You may set the remaining number of digits by following the same proce-dures 1 and 2.
4. If all of four digits have been tried successfully, turn the ignition key"ON" and check that the immobilizerindicator illuminates. From this time, you have to start your engine within 30 seconds. If you start your engineafter 30 seconds, your engine will not start.
B880D02A-GAT Limp Home Procedures In case the immobilizer warning indica- tor blinks for five seconds when the ignition key is turned to "ON" position, this indicates that the immobilizer sys-tem is out of order. And you cannot start the engine without the limp home proce- dures with ignition key.The following procedure is how to start the engine with the function of the limp home. (0, 1, 2, 3 as a sample pass-word).

The key number should be recordedand kept in a safe place in case theneed to order further keys arises. New keys are available from any Hyundai dealer by quoting the relevant key num-ber. In the interest of security, the number tag attached to the keys which bearsthe key number should be removed from the key string after you receive your new vehicle. In addition, key num-bers cannot be provided by Hyundai for security reasons. If you need additional keys or if youshould lose your keys, your authorized Hyundai dealer can make new keys if you can supply the key number.

DOOR LOCKS
NOTE: If the engine dies while driving after limp home procedure, you can start your engine within 8 seconds with-out limp home procedure again.
5. If the immobilizer indicator blinks for five seconds, you have to try the limp home procedure again from the beginning.
After doing the limp home procedure,you have to consult with your autho-rized Hyundai dealer as soon as pos- sible.
! CAUTION:
o If you fail to try the limp home procedure with the sequence of three times, you have to wait for about one hour to do the limp home procedure again.
o If you cannot start your engine in spite of limp home procedure, haveyour vehicle towed by an autho-rized Hyundai dealer.

Locking and Unlocking Front Doors With a Key
WARNING:
o Unlocked doors can be danger- ous. Before you drive away (espe- cially if there are children in the car), be sure that all the doors are securely closed and locked sothat the doors cannot be inadvert- ently opened from the inside. This helps ensure that the doors willnot be opened accidentally. Also, when combined with the proper use of seat belts, locking the doors helps keep occupants from being ejected from the car incase of an accident.
o Before opening the door, always
look for and avoid oncoming traf-fic.
o In case of accident, the door is
unlocked automatically (If In-stalled). o The door can be locked or unlocked
with a key.
o Lock the door by turning the key
toward the front of the vehicle and unlock it by turning the key toward the rear.

B040D01S-GAT Locking From the Inside To lock the doors from the inside, sim- ply close the door and push the lock switch to the "LOCK" position. Whenthis is done, neither the outside nor the inside door handle can be used.B040E04A-AAT Child-protector Rear Door Lock (4 Door) Your Hyundai is equipped with a "child- protector" rear door lock assembly.When the lock mechanism is engaged, the rear door cannot be opened from the inside. Its use is recommended when-ever there are small children in the rear seat.
NOTE: When the door is locked, the red mark on the switch is not visible.
B040C01MC-AAT Locking From the Outside The doors can be locked without a key. To lock the doors, first push the inside lock switch to the "LOCK" position sothat the red mark on the switch is not visible, then close the door. NOTE:
o If your vehicle is equipped with
central door locking system, the door will not lock if the key is leftin the ignition switch when the front doors are closed.
o When locking the door this way, be careful not to lock the door withthe ignition key left in the vehicle.

remove the ignition key, close all windows, and lock all doors and the trunk lid (4 Door)/tail gate (3 Door) when leaving your vehicleunattended.UNLOCKLOCK

9THEFT-ALARM SYSTEM
To engage the child-protector feature so the door cannot be opened from theinside, move the child-protector lever to the " " position and close the door. Move the lever to the " " positionwhen normal door operation is desired. If you wish to be able to open the door from the outside, the outside door handle will function normally.
B070A01A-AAT (If Installed) This system is designed to provide protection from unauthorized entry intothe car. This system is operated in three stages: the first is the "Armed" stage, the second is the "Alarm" stage,and the third is the "Disarmed" stage. If triggered, the system provides an au- dible alarm with blinking of the turnsignal lights.NOTE:
o When pushing the front portion of the driver's door lock switch, all vehicle doors will lock. If any dooris open when the switch is de- pressed, the door will remain locked when closed.
o When pushing the rear portion of the switch, all vehicle doors willunlock.
o The central door locking is oper- ated by turning the key in thedriver's door lock toward the frontor rear of the vehicle.
o If the door is locked/unlocked mul-
tiple times in rapid successionwith either the vehicle key or door lock switch, the system may stop operating temporarily in order toprotect the circuit and prevent damage to system components.
B040G03HP-AAT Central Door Locks (If Installed) The central door locking switch is lo- cated on the driver's arm rest. It is operated by depressing the door lock switch.

B070C02MC-GAT Alarm Stage The alarm will be activated if any of the following occurs while the car is parkedand the system is armed.
1) Any door, tail gate (3 Door) included,is opened without using the trans- mitter.
2) The trunk lid (4 Door) is opened without using the key.
3) The engine hood is opened. The alarming horn will sound and the turn signal lights will blink continuously for 27 seconds (E.C, Mideast only/Except E.C : This happens 3 times). To turn off the system, unlock the door with the transmitter.
NOTE:
1) If any door, trunk lid (4 Door)/tail gate (3 Door) or engine hood re- mains open, the system will notbe armed. If this happens, rearm the system as previously described.
2) Once the system is armed, only the trunk lid (4 Door) may be un-locked using the ignition key with-out disarming the system.

Park the car and stop the engine. Arm the system as described in the follow- ing paragraph.
1) Remove the ignition key from the ignition switch.
2) Make sure that the engine hood and trunk lid (4 Door)/tail gate (3 Door) are closed and latched.
3) Lock the doors using the transmitter of the keyless entry system.
After completion of the steps above, the turn signal lights will blink once to indicate that the system is armed. CAUTION:
o Do not arm the system until all passengers have left the car. If the system is armed while a passenger(s)remains in the car, the alarm may be activated when the remaining passenger(s) leaves the car.
o Avoid trying to start the engine while the system is armed (TypeA).

B070D02MC-GAT Disarmed Stage
The system will be disarmed when the driver's or passenger's door is unlocked by depressing the button on the trans- mitter after the system was armed. After completion of the step above, the turn signal lights will blink twice toindicate that the system is disarmed. If any door, trunk lid(4 Door)/tail gate(3 Door) or engine hood is not opened within 30 seconds, the system will be rearmed. NOTE: When the system is disarmed with the interior light switched to "DOOR",the interior light will illuminate for 30 seconds. B070D02AMC
B070F03A-GAT Keyless Entry System (If Installed) Locking doors
1. Close all doors.
2. Push the button on the transmitter.
3. At the same time all doors lock, the
turn signal lights will blink once toindicate that the system is armed.
Unlocking doors 1. Push the button on the transmitter once more after all doors were locked.
2. At the same time all doors unlock,
the turn signal lights will blink twice to indicate that the system is dis- armed.
NOTE: The transmitter will not work if any of following occur:
- The ignition key is in ignition switch.
- You exceed the operating distance limit (10 m).
- The battery in the transmitter is weak.
- Other vehicles or objects may be
blocking the signal.
CAUTION:
Only the transmitter can disarm the armed stage. If the transmitter doesnot disarm the system, it is neces- sary to take the following steps; Type A: 1. Unlock and open the door with the key, which will cause the alarm to be activated.
2. Insert the key in the ignition key
cylinder and turn the ignition keyto "ON" position.
3. Wait for 30 seconds. Type B: 1. Unlock and open the door with the
key, which will cause the alarm to be activated.
2. Insert the key in the ignition key
cylinder and turn the ignition keyto "START" position.
After completing the steps above,the system will be disarmed.

To raise or lower the window, turn the window regulator handle clockwise or counterclockwise. WARNING:
When opening or closing the win- dows, make sure your passenger'sarms, hands and body are safely out of the way.

B070E01MC-AAT Replacing the battery When the transmitter's battery begins to get weak, it may take several pusheson the button to lock or unlock the doors, and the LED will not light. Re- place the battery as soon as possible. Battery type : CR1220 1. Remove the screw with a phillips
screwdriver.
2. Carefully separate the case with a flat-head screwdriver.
3. Remove the battery cover with a
coin.
4. Remove the old battery from the case and note the polarity. Make sure the polarity of the new batteryis the same (+side facing up), then insert it in the transmitter. OMC025004
- The weather is extremely cold.
- The transmitter is close to a radio
transmitter such as a radio station or an airport which can interfere with normal operation of the trans-mitter.
When the transmitter does not workcorrectly, open and close the doorwith the ignition key. If you have a problem with the transmitter, con- tact an authorized Hyundai Dealer. NOTE: Keep the transmitter away from wa- ter or any liquid. If the keyless entry system is inoperative due to expo-sure to water or liquids, it will not be covered by your manufacturer ve- hicle warranty. Replacement instructions:
