opening takes place in two steps, first
push on the button will open the sun-
roof partially, a second long push on the
button will open the sunroof fully; at
this step if you release the button, the
roof will lock in the position it is in at
the moment.
Open and close the sunroof only when the
car is stationary.
IMPORTANT In order to prevent possi-
ble noise, after closing the sunroof, you
are suggested to keep the sunroof clos-
ing button Cpressed for over 2 seconds. OPENING/CLOSING fig. 66
Opening and closing are only possible with
the key at MAR.

Do not open the sunroof if
there is snow or ice on it: it
could be damaged.
Improper use of the sunroof
can be dangerous. Before
and during its operation ensure that
any passengers are not at risk from
the moving roof either by personal
objects getting caught in the mecha-
nism or by being injured by it direct-
ly.
WARNING
Always remove the ignition
key when you get out of the
car to prevent the sunroof being op-
erated accidentally and constituting
a danger to the people left in the car.

To unlock
Turn the key to 1and lift the handle.
With central door locking system (where
provided), when the key is turned all
doors are unlocked at the same time.
By remote control (where provided),
press button Ëto open the doors.To lock
Turn the key to 2with the door shut
properly.
With central door locking system (where
provided), all doors must be shut prop-
erly.
By remote control (where provided),
press button Á; to close the doors.
If one of the doors is not shut properly,
the central door locking system will fail.
IMPORTANT If one of the front doors is
open or the system is failing, central lock-
ing will not activate and after 6 attempts
in rapid sequence the device will be ex-
cluded for about 60 seconds. If there is a fault in the electrical

Take the key Ein the tool box (in the
boot) and manually open/close the sun-
roof fitting the key into the motor seat.
To reach the seat, remove the pressure-
fit cover Flocated on the central roof

the inside.
This device can be engaged only with rear
doors open:
❒position 1- disengaged (door can
opened from the passenger’s compart-
ment);
❒position 2- engaged (door cannot
opened from the passenger’s compart-
ment).
The device will be engaged even if the
doors are unlocked electrically.
IMPORTANT Always use the device
when transporting children.
IMPORTANT After engaging the lock,
check by trying to open a rear door with

window winders are fitted also on front
doors.

a few seconds to open or close the win-
dow automatically (only with key at
MAR).

On certain versions, the tailgate (when un-
locked) can only be opened from outside
the car using the powered handle Clo-
cated beneath the shackle.
If doors are unlocked the boot can be
opened at any time.
To open it, one of the front doors shall be
opened or doors shall be unlocked using
the remote control or the key without re-
mote control.
If the boot is not shut properly the in-
strument panel warning light ´(if any) will
come on.
BOOT
OPENING THE TAILGATE

Unlock the lock using the metal insert of
the ignition key A.
The opening of the boot is made easier by
the gas-filled struts on each side.
Opening the tailgate will switch the boot
light on: the light will go off automatically
when closing the tailgate.
The light will stay on for about 15 minutes
after turning the key to STOP: if during
this time, a door or the tailgate is opened,
the light will switch on again for 15 min-
utes.

When using the boot, make
sure the load you are carry-
ing does not exceed the permitted
weight (see “Technical specifications”
chapter). Also ensure the items in the
boot are arranged properly to pre-
vent them being thrown forward and
injuring passengers, should you brake
sharply.

Do not travel with the tail-
gate open: exhaust gases
may get into the passenger’s com-
partment.

When travelling in areas
where it is difficult to find a
filling station and you wish to carry
a reserve fuel can, attain to the rele-
vant law and use only certified cans,
well fastened to the load anchoring
hooks. Even in this way the risk of fire
is increased in the case of an accident.

To restore the use of the rear seat: lift the
seat back and push it backwards until you
hear the locking click and make sure the
seat belts are at the front of the seat back.
The car can be fitted, as optional, with sep-
arate rear seats.
The boot extension possibilities offered
by the split seat are many and they should
be chosen according to the number of
passengers and the amount of luggage to
be carried:
❒total extension with right and left side
of the seat tilted as described above;
❒partial extension with left or right side
of the seat tilted and place only for No.
1 rear passenger.
IMPORTANT If in the boot there is a
rather heavy load and you are travelling at
night, check and adjust aiming of the main
beam headlights (see “Headlights” in this

Proceed as follows:
1) Remove the rear parcel shelf and fit it
behind the back rests. To remove the rear
parcel shelf, release catches A(one per
side) and pull the rear parcel shelf out-
wards.
2) Operate the levers on the seat back
outer side and tilt the seat back forwards
putting aside the seat belts.
For central seat belts with three anchor
point see paragraph “Use of the central
seat belt” in section “Safety devices”.

Restoring the seat position
To restore the use of the rear seat: lift the
seat back and push it backwards until you
hear the locking click and make sure the
seat belts are at the front of the seat back.

Once you have released the
lever, check that the seat is
firmly locked in the runners by trying
to move it back and forth. Failure to
lock the seat in place could result in
the seat moving suddenly and the dri-
ver losing control of the car.
WARNING
The bonnet might fall vio-
lently if the support rod is
not positioned properly. This should
only be done when the car is station-
ary.
