MP3 CD operation
Changing the playback option
E.g.:

The option is activated. The MP3 main
menu will reappear.
Explanation of the playback options
Normal sequence (normal setting)
The tracks of the current folder are
played in alphabetical order.
If the current folder contains sub-
folders:
The sub-folders and their tracks are
played in alphabetical order.
CD mix
All tracks of the MP3 CD are played in
random order.
Repeat track
The system repeats the current track
until you switch the function off.
Repeat folder
The system repeats the tracks of the
current folder until you switch the
function off.

AUX operation
An external audio source can be
connected to the COMAND via the 1/8"
socket located inside the glovebox.

Open the Audio menu (page 40).
Press the AUX soft key.
The AUX menu is displayed. The exter-
nal audio source is played back if it is
connected and switched to playback.At the COMAND, you can set the following
for the AUX operation:

Sound functions* (page 37)

operation.
The message will appear at start up or
when the signal is not available.After the COMAND acquires the
signal, the Satellite radio main menu will
appear. The station last tuned to will begin
to play.

Telephone operation
The system detects an incoming call, the
phone rings.
Incoming calls are indicated in a window in
any system (e.g. radio).
The window shows:
the caller’s number if it is transmitted
or
the caller’s name if her or his name and
number are saved in the phone book or
Unknown.Accepting a call
Press k.

Press E to confirm accept.
The display will change to the
call menu (
page 103). In the status
bar, the off-hook symbol will appear.
An active audio source will be muted.
You talk over the hands-free set.
Rejecting a call

COMAND will mute an active audio source.

set.
The message Call failed may
appear if you place an outgoing call.

Subsequent dialing
Transmitting other dial tones:
During a call you can press the number
keys 1 through 0, # and *.
Ending a call
Press K.

Enters the stations with the best recep-
tion (signal strength) into the autostore
memory in order of their reception
quality (from strong to weak).
Balance
Defines sound-center left/right.
Bit rate (MP3)
Measurement of transmission speed.
Indicates the number of bits transmit-
ted per time unit.
CD
(Compact Disc)
Digital storage medium in disc form.CD-R

Recordable)
->CD which can be read, and written
but not deleted.

Folder
Alternative designation for songs/
tracks. Data saved on a storage medi-
um can be grouped into folders for
improved organization. Can be likened
to a filing cabinet containing a number
of folders, each of which holds a num-

Satellite-based system for relaying
geographic location information to and
from vehicles equipped with special re-
ceivers. Employs DVD digital maps for

The term used in everyday speech for

MPEG1 Audio Layer 3
A means of compressing digital audio
data.
Multi session
A method for recording data, e.g. for
CDs. Mixed data types are written to
the CD in a number of sessions.
