Tape operation
Ejecting/Inserting a tape
While the COMAND is switched on,
press l.
The display changes.
Press the
Tape
soft key.
The screen is closed and the tape slot
is released.Tape was inserted:
The COMAND ejects the tape.
Remove the tape from the slot.Inserting a tape
Insert the tape with the wider portion
toward the right.
The COMAND inserts the tape. The
Tape main menu (
page 40) will
appear. Playback begins.
Activate the Tape main menu
(page 40).
iThe COMAND will insert the tape again
if you do not remove it from the slot
within approx. 15 seconds.
Seeking/skipping tracksiThe seek tuning function only works
properly if there is enough blank tape
(approx. 3 seconds).

Towns of the same name are distinguished
by the area in which they are located. After
you have entered the place, a list of areas
may appear. The status bar indicates the
number of areas available, for example: Town

Press G or g to select an area.

After you have entered the city, you can
select a center (district).

Route Guidance is displayed at the bottom

Route calculation and route guidance
begins. Route calculation can take some time,
depending on the distance to the
destination.
During route calculation,
CALC RTE
and an
arrow pointing towards the destination are
displayed.
Route guidance begins when route
calculation is complete.
The system will calculate a new route
during active route guidance if the driver
does not follow the route guidance.
NEW RTE
is displayed during recalculation.
The arrow is not filled out.After route calculation, the system assists
route guidance using pictorial displays
(
page 135) and voice instructions.
Repeating current voice instructions
If you have not understood a navigation
announcement, you can at any time have a
current announcement repeated.
Press j.
The current navigation announcement
is repeated.

Voice instructions are intended to direct you
while driving without diverting your attenti-
on from the road and driving.
Always use this feature instead of consulting
the map display for directions. Consulting
the map displays for directions may cause
you to divert your attention from driving and
increase the risk of an accident.

You can enter data in a field using the 12-
keys keyboard (1 - #) or the selection
menu.

The selection menu will appear.
Enter the data using the selection

After you have entered the data, the
entry edit menu is displayed again. You
can select the next data field and enter
data.

When all data are entered, press the Back
soft key in the entry edit menu.
