VENTILATOR RELAY COMMAND CIRCUIT
(for cars having no A.C.)
1. Open circuit or short-circuit to mass of the way to pin 8 of the calculator
2. Sh ort-circuit at 12 V along the way to pin 8 of the calculator.DEFECT
PRESENT29.
Conditions of breakdown detection by the calculator:
-take the contact and wait for the dialogue with the tester to be lost
-set the conta ct and enter dialogue.
Condition of performing the diagnosing:
-the defe ct is present
Note: this defect has to be correlated with the diagnosing of the water
temperature sensor circuit.
SUGGESTIONS
Check the connection and the condition of the connector of the 23 4 cooling ventilator
re lay.
Change the connector if necessary.
Check, af t er se tt i ng co nt a ct, the pr e sence of +12 V at po le 1 of the 234 re lay.
Remedy it if necessary.
Connect the 90 - way te r m in a l -tester instead of th e calculator an d check the in s ulation
and the con ti nui ty alo ng the circui t:
pi n 8 of ca lc ul at or
♦ pole 2 of th e 23 4 cooling ve nt il at or re la y.
Remedy if necessary.
Check th e coil of th e 234 co ol in g ventilator relay.
Change th e relay if ne ce ss ar y .
The problem is not yet solved! Consequently, the injection calculator must be changed.
CAUTION! The destruction of the calculator has probably been caused by an
ele ct ric sho ck.
The cause of the destru ction must be found before mounti ng a new
calcu lato r.

COMBUSTION MISFIRE AT CYLINDER 4
It must be said that in infrequent cases the indication of the faulty cylin-
der is not exac t; the calculator can declare cylinder 1 as not working,
while it is not faulty. So, you have to check this cylinder as a priority,
an d if everything s correct, the other cylinders will be checked. These
indications will only be used if the polluting or destructive combustion
m isfires are present.
SUGGESTION
In this case, the problem is probably caused by an element which acts
only on this cylinder:
- its injector
-the spar k plug of this cylinder
-the plug of the spark for that cylinder.C YLINDER 1 IS

STATEIDLE MODE ADJUSTMENT
SUGGESTIONS There shou
ld be no defect present or memorized
Check the resistance of the step-by-step engine for the idle mode adjustment.
Change it if necessary.
Check the insulation and the continuity of the cabling along the circuits:
- pin 12 calc ulator ♦ pin B step-by-step engine
- pin 41 calc ulator ♦ pin A step-by-step engine
- pin 42 calc ulator ♦ pin C step-by-step engine
- pin 72 calc ulator ♦ pin D step-by-step engine
Remedy if necessary, and then go on with the diagnose, watching the tolerance value of
the idle mode rotation ratio.
The id le mode rotation
ra tio< minimal limit. The id le mode rotation ratio is too small.
-Check th e functioning of the enrichment adjustment.
-Clean the air supply circuit (clapper body, step-by-step engine) as they seem to be dirty.
-Ch eck th e oil level of the engine (too high a level causes splash lubrication)
-Ch eck the pressure of petrol (see if it is not too small)
-Ch eck en gine compression with the “CLIP TEHNIC” tester
-Ch eck the adjustment of the rocker-arms and the settling of the distribution.
-Ch eck the ignition system
-Ch eck the in jectors.
If all the above are correct, then the step-by-step engine will have to be replaced.
AFTER REPAIRPerform again the conformity test.

- Chec k the oil level of the engine
- Chec k the good functioning of the atmospheric pressure sensor.
- Check the tubes connected to the admission collector.
-C heck the fittings of the admission collector
- Check the watertightness fittings of the clapper body
- Check the watertightness of the power-brakes.
- Chec k the presence of the nozzles of the oil-vapour re-aspiration circuit
- Chec k petrol pressure.
- Check the adjustment of the rocker-arms and the settling of the distribution.

Check if there is petrol in the fuel tank (do not rely on the
on-board in
dices). Check if it is the fuel recommended by
the manufacturer.
Disconnect the tube between the draining valve and the
intake collector and strangle it up. If the disturbances disap-
pear, the cause was the draining valve.
Connect the “CLIP TEHNIC” device to do this test in ac-

Connect the tester “CLIP” and do the test corresponding to
the check-up of the rotation signal.
Gently touch the step-by-step engine in order to possibly
