Check the following items:
Harness for short or open between ignition switch and TCM terminal 10, 19
Harness for short or open between battery and TCM terminal 28
Fuse
Ignition switch. Refer to PG-2, "POWER SUPPLY ROUTING" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 9.
NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.
3. CHECK INPUT SIGNAL OF A/T FLUID TEMPERATURE SENSOR
With CONSULT-II
1. Start engine.
2. Select “TCM INPUT SIGNALS” in “DATA MONITOR” mode for “A/T” with CONSULT-II.
3. Read out the value of “FLUID TEMP SE”.
Without CONSULT-II
1. Start engine.
2. Check voltage TCM connector while warming up A/T.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 9.
NG >> GO TO 4.
4. DETECT MALFUNCTIONING ITEM
Check the following items:
Harness for short or open between TCM, ECM and terminal cord assembly
Ground circuit for ECM
Refer to PG-2, "
POWER SUPPLY ROUTING" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 5.
NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.

5. CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH
1. Turn ignition switch to OFF.
2. Disconnect stop lamp switch harness connector.
3. Check continuity between stop lamp switch harness connector M12 terminals 3 (G) and 4 (P).
Check stop lamp switch after adjusting brake pedal — refer to BR-6, "
BRAKE PEDAL" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 6.
NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.
6. DETECT MALFUNCTIONING ITEM
Check the following items. If any items are damaged, repair or replace damaged parts.
1. Harness for short or open between battery and stop lamp switch harness connector 3 (G)
2. Harness for short or open between stop lamp switch harness connector 4 (P) and A/T device harness
connector 5 (P)
3. 15A fuse [No.22, located in the fuse block (J/B)]
4. Ignition switch (Refer to PG-2, "
POWER SUPPLY ROUTING" .)
OK or NG
OK >>INSPECTION END
NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.
7. CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT
1. Turn ignition switch to OFF.
2. Disconnect A/T device harness connector.
3. Check continuity between A/T device harness connector M58
terminal 6 (B) and ground.
4. Connect A/T device harness connector.
OK or NG
OK >> Replace shift lock solenoid or park position switch.
NG >> Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power
in harness or connectors.

4. Check voltage between 4WD control unit harness connector ter-
minal 9 and ground.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 4.
NG >> Check the following. If any item is damaged, repair or
replace damaged parts.

4. CHECK 4WD SOLENOID CIRCUIT
1. Turn ignition switch “OFF”.
2. Disconnect 4WD control unit harness connector.
3. Check resistance between 4WD control unit harness connector
terminals 1 and 2.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 6.
NG >> GO TO 5.
5. CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN 4WD CONTROL UNIT AND 4WD SOLENOID
1. Turn ignition switch “OFF”.
2. Disconnect 4WD control unit harness connector and 4WD solenoid harness connector.
3. Check continuity between the following terminals.
–4WD control unit harness connector M107 terminal 1 (OR) and
4WD solenoid harness connector B152 terminal 2 (LG).
–4WD control unit harness connector M107 terminal 2 (L/W) and
4WD solenoid harness connector B152 terminal 1 (L/W).
Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 6.
NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.

YES >> Perform trouble diagnosis for CAN communication line. Refer to LAN-4, "CAN Communication

NO >> GO TO 2.
2. CHECK 4WD CONTROL UNIT POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
1. Turn ignition switch “OFF”.
2. Disconnect 4WD control unit harness connector.
3. Turn ignition switch “ON”. (Do not start engine.)
4. Check voltage between 4WD control unit harness connector ter-
minals and ground.
5. Turn ignition switch “OFF”.
6. Check voltage between 4WD control unit harness connector ter-
minals and ground.

Is any malfunction detected by self-diagnosis?
YES >> Check the malfunctioning system.
NO >> GO TO 2.
2. CHECK 4WD CONTROL UNIT POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
1. Turn ignition switch “OFF”.
2. Disconnect 4WD control unit harness connector.
3. Turn ignition switch “ON”. (Do not start engine.)
4. Check voltage between 4WD control unit harness connector ter-
minals and ground.
5. Turn ignition switch “OFF”.
6. Check voltage between 4WD control unit harness connector ter-
minals and ground.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 3.
NG >> Check the following. If any items are damaged, repair or
replace damaged parts.

TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS
2. SELF-DIAGNOSIS RESULT CHECK 2
1. Disconnect connectors for ESP/TCS/ABS control unit and the actuator. Securely connect them again.
2. Perform the self-diagnosis again.
Are any self-diagnosis items indicated again?
YES >> GO TO 3.
NO >> Repair or replace the poorly connected connector.
3. ACTUATOR MOTOR, MOTOR RELAY POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT INSPECTION
1. Disconnect relay box harness connectors.
2. Check the voltage between the harness connector E55 and
body ground.
Is inspection result OK?
YES >> GO TO 4.
NO >>
Check the fuse 50A.
Check for the continuity between battery and relay box terminal No. 10.
4. ACTUATOR MOTOR AND MOTOR RELAY CIRCUIT CHECK
1. Disconnect connectors for ESP/TCS/ABS control unit and the
relay box.
2. Check for continuity between ESP/TCS/ABS control unit, the
relay.
Is inspection result OK?
YES >> GO TO 5.
NO >> Harness malfunction between ESP/TCS/ABS control unit, the ESP relay box.
5. MOTOR RELAY UNIT INSPECTION
Check the motor relay as a unit.
Is inspection result OK?
YES >> Check ESP/TCS/ABS control unit power supply circuit.
NO >> Replace the motor relay.
