serious injuries. The fluid in the battery contains a strong solu- tion of sulfuric acid, which is poisonous andhighly corrosive. Be careful not to spill it onyourself or the car. If you do spill battery fluid onyourself, immediately do the following:
o If battery fluid is on your skin, flush the affected areas with water for at least 15minutes and then seek medical assistance.
o If battery fluid is in your eyes, rinse out your eyes with water and get medical assistanceas soon as possible. While you are beingdriven to get medical assistance, continueto rinse your eyes by using a sponge or softcloth saturated with water.
o If you swallow battery fluid, drink a large quantity of water or milk followed by milk ofmagnesia, eat a raw egg or drink vegetableoil. Get medical assistance as soon aspossible.
While batteries are being charged (either by abattery charger or by the vehicle’s alternator),they produce explosive gases. Always observethese warnings to prevent injuries from occur-ring:

Anti-freeze
The engine coolant contains an ethylene glycol
anti-corrosion agent. The cylinder head and coolant pump housing are cast aluminium alloy, and periodic changing of the engine coolant isnecessary to prevent corrosion of these parts. Because of the necessity of this anti-corrosion
agent, the coolant must not be replaced withplain water even in summer.
The required concentration of anti-freeze differs
depending on the expected ambient tempera-ture.

FULL
LOW
A translucent coolant reservoir tank is in the
engine compartment. The coolant level in this tank should be kept
between the "LOW" and "FULL" marks when measured while the engine is warm and idling.
The cooling system is a closed system and
normally the loss of coolant should be veryslight. A noticeable drop in the coolant levelcould indicate leakage.
If this occurs, have the system checked at an
authorized HYUNDAI dealer as soon as pos-sible.
If the level should drop below the "LOW" level
on the reservoir tank, add coolant.
Also, if the reservoir tank is completely empty,
remove the radiator cap and add coolant untilthe level reaches the filler neck.

WHEEL CONDITION Check the tires for cuts, cracks and other damage. Replace the tires if there are deepcuts or cracks. Also check each tire for piecesof metal or pebbles. The use of worn tires can be very dangerous because of the greater chance of skidding orhydroplaning. The tread depth of the tires mustexceed 1.6 mm (0.06 in.) in order for the tiresto meet the minimum requirement for use.If there are belt-line wear indicators on thetires, they will appear in six places on thesurface of the tire thereby indicating that thetire no longer meets the minimum requirementfor use. When these wear indicators appear, the tires must be replaced with new one. Con-firm that the wheel nuts are tightened sufficient-ly. Refer to the section of this manual entitled"In case of emergency" for information con-cerning care of the tires.

The washer fluid reservoir supplies fluid to the
windshield washer system.
A good quality washer fluid should be used to fill
the washer reservoir. The fluid level should be checked more frequently during bad weather orwhenever the washer system is in more fre-quent use.
