2. The theft warning alarm and headlights
will stay on for 30 seconds.
3. The panic alarm stops when:
Oit has run for 30 seconds, or
Othe LOCK or UNLOCK button is pressed,
on the keyfob.
Silencing the horn beep feature
If desired, the horn beep feature can be
deactivated using the keyfob.
To deactivate:Press and hold the LOCK
and UNLOCKtogether for at least two
seconds.
The hazard lights will quickly flash three
times to confirm that the horn beep feature
has been deactivated.
To activate:Press and hold the LOCK and
UNLOCKtogether for at least two sec-
onds once more.
The hazard lights will quickly flash once and
the horn will sound once to confirm that the
horn beep feature has been reactivated.
Deactivating the horn feature does not si-
lence the horn if the alarm is triggered.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT
Replace the battery in the keyfob as follows:
1. Open the lid using a coin.
2. Replace the battery with a new one.Recommended battery: Toshiba CR2025
or equivalent.3. Close the lid securely.
4. Press the LOCK button, then the UNLOCKbutton two or three times to check the
keyfob operation.
If the battery is removed for any reason
other than replacement, perform step 4
above.
OAn improperly disposed battery can
hurt the environment. Always confirm
local regulations for battery disposal.
OThe keyfob is water-resistant; how-
ever, if it does get wet, immediately
wipe completely dry.
OThe operational range of the keyfob
extends to approximately 33 ft (10 m)
from the vehicle. This range may vary
with conditions.

WARNING
OMake sure the hood is completely
closed and latched before driving.
Failure to do so could cause the
hood to fly open and result in an
accident.
OIf you see steam or smoke coming
from the engine compartment, to
avoid injury do not open the hood.
1. Pull the hood lock release handle located
below the driver side instrument panel;
the hood then springs up slightly.2. Lift the lever at the front of the hood with
your fingertips and raise the hood.
3. Insert the support rod into the slot in the
front edge of the hood.
4. When closing the hood, reset the support
rod to its original position, lower the hood
to approximately 12 inches (30.5 cm)
above the latch and release it. This al-
lows proper engagement of the hood
latch.

To unlock the back door turn the key clock-
wise. To open the back door lift up on the
door handle and lift the door up. To close,
lower and push the door down securely. To
lock the back door, turn the key counter-
clockwise.
WARNING
OAlways be sure the back door has
been closed securely to prevent it
from opening while driving.O
Do not drive with the back door open.
This could allow dangerous exhaust
gases to be drawn into the vehicle.
See ªPrecautions when starting and
drivingº in the ªStarting and drivingº
section for exhaust gas.

Always evenly distribute cargo on the roof
rack.The maximum total load is 125 lb
(57 kg) evenly distributed, including gear
basket.Be careful that your vehicle does
not exceed the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating
(GVWR) or the Gross Axle Weight Ratings(GAWR front and rear). The GVWR and
GAWR are located on the Safety Compli-
ance Certification Label (located on the
driver's side door jamb pillar). For more
information regarding GVWR and GAWR,
refer to the ªTechnical and customer infor-mationº section of this manual.
WARNING
Properly secure all cargo with ropes or
straps to help prevent it from sliding or
shifting. In a sudden stop or collision,
unsecured cargo could cause personal
injury.
CAUTION
Use care when placing or removing
items from the tubular roof rack or gear
basket. If you cannot comfortably lift
the items onto the tubular roof rack or
gear basket from the ground, use a
ladder or stool.

Getting the tubular roof rack
torxdriver
1. Open the back door.
2. Roll back the cargo area carpet.
3. Remove the roof rack torxdriver.
The front and rear crossbars can be ad-
justed forward, backward, or be removed.
Use the torxdriver located in the tool kit to
loosen both crossbar adjusting screws.
Position the crossbar as needed and then
tighten the crossbar adjusting screws. Placeyour cargo between the bars, and secure
with rope. Always check the tightness of the
cross bar adjusting screws.

The roof rack is equipped with a removable
gear basket.The maximum gear basket
load is 30 lb (13.6 kg) evenly distributed.
The gear basket can be removed by un-
screwing the four hold down bolts.The tubular step rail has a front and rear
step for assisting passengers to get into and
out of the vehicle.

FUEL FILLER CAP
The fuel filler cap is a ratcheting type. Turn
the cap counter clockwise to remove.
Tighten the cap clockwise until ratcheting
clicks are heard.
WARNING
OGasoline is extremely flammable and
highly explosive under certain con-
ditions. You could be burned or se-
riously injured if it is misused ormishandled. Always stop the engine
and do not smoke or allow open
flames or sparks near the vehicle
when refueling.
OFuel may be under pressure. Turn
the cap one-half turn and wait for
any ``hissing'' sound to stop to pre-
vent fuel from spraying out and
causing possible personal injury.
Then remove the cap.
ODo not attempt to top off the fuel
tank after the fuel pump nozzle shuts
off automatically. Continued refuel-
ing may cause fuel overflow, result-
ing in fuel spray and possibly fire.
OUse only an original equipment type
fuel filler cap as a replacement. It has
a built-in safety valve needed for
proper operation of the fuel system
and emission control system. An in-
correct cap can result in a serious
malfunction and possible injury. It
could also cause the malfunction
indicator lamp to come on.
ONever pour fuel into the throttle body
to attempt to start your vehicle.
CAUTION
OIf fuel is spilled on the vehicle body,
flush it away with water to avoid
paint damage.
OTighten until the fuel filler cap clicks.
Failure to tighten the fuel filler cap
properly may cause the
mal-
function indicator lamp (MIL) to illu-
minate. If the
lamp illuminates
because the fuel filler cap is loose or
missing, tighten or install the cap
and continue to drive the vehicle.
The
lamp should turn off after
a few driving trips. If thelamp
does not turn off after a few driving
trips, have the vehicle inspected by
an authorized NISSAN dealer.
