The sub key will only function in the ignition and the door locks.Leaving your sub key with a parkingattendant will ensure that your vehicle'strunk, trunk lid release, glove box com-partment and rear trunk access may not be unlocked in your absence. o Don't drive faster than 88 km/h (55
mph).
o While driving, keep your engine speed (rpm, or revolutions per minute) between 2,000 rpm and 4,000 rpm.
o Use moderate acceleration. Don't start, depress the accelerator pedal fully.
o For the first 300 km (200 miles), try to avoid hard stops.
o Don't lug the engine (in other words,
don't drive so slowly in too high agear that the engine "bucks": shift toa lower gear).
o Whether going fast or slow, vary
your speed from time to time.
o Don't let the engine idle longer than
3 minutes for a catalytic converterequipped engine.
o Don't tow a trailer during the first 2,000 km (1,200 miles) of opera-tion.

B030B01L B880A01A-GAT IMMOBILIZER SYSTEM (If Installed) The immobilizer system is an anti-theft device, designed to deter automobiletheft.
B030B01A-AAT Record Your Key Number A code number is stamped on the number plate that came with the keys to your Hyundai. This key numberplate should not be left with the keysbut kept in a safe place, not in thevehicle. The key number should alsobe recorded in a place where it can be found in an emergency. If you need additional keys, or if youshould lose your keys, your authorizedHyundai dealer can make new keys ifyou can supply the key number. B880B03Y-GAT Three Types of Keys
1) ID key
This key must be used first to regis- ter a unique ID code in the ICM.
2) Master key This key is for general use. It will open all locks on your vehicle. One side of the key has the Hyundai logoand the other side has the "M" sym-bol.
3) Sub key Similar to the master key, this key will only function in the ignition and the door locks, but it will not operatethe trunk and the glove box. Oneside of the key has the Hyundai logoand the other side has a "S" symbol.
4) Leaving your sub key with a parking attendant will ensure that yourvehicle's trunk, trunk lid release,glove box compartment and reartrunk access may not be unlockedin your absence.
NOTE: Before leaving your sub key with a parking attendant, make sure that the lock levers of the seat back lockand the trunk lid lock are switchedto the "LOCK" position.

B880C01A-GAT Key Numbers The vehicle key number is recorded upon a metal tag attached to the keyswhen the vehicle is first delivered toyou.The key number should be recordedand kept in a safe place in case the need to order further keys arises. New keys are available from any Hyundaidealer by quoting the relevant keynumber.In the interest of security, the metal tagattached to the keys which bears the key number should be removed from
the key ring after you receive your newvehicle. In addition, key numbers can-not be provided by Hyundai for secu-rity reasons. B880C01L
CAUTION:
Don't lose your ID key or forget the password. Always keep your ID key in a place where you remember andrecord your password. If you don'thave both the password and ID key,consult your authorized Hyundaidealer.

5) If you need additional keys or if you should lose your keys, your autho- rized Hyundai dealer can make new keys if you can supply the key num- ber and ID key.

o The door can be locked or unlocked
with a key.
o Lock the door by turning the key toward the front of the vehicle and unlock it by turning the key towardthe rear.

B040C02Y-AAT Locking From the Outside The doors can be locked without a key. To lock the doors, first push the insidelock switch to the "LOCK" position, sothat the red mark on the switch is notvisible, then closed the door.The door will not lock if the key is left in the ignition switch when the front doors close. This is normal. NOTE:
o When locking the door this way,
be careful not to lock the door with the ignition key left in thevehicle.
WARNING:
o Unlocked doors can be danger- ous. Before you drive away (es-pecially if there are children inthe car), be sure that all the doorsare securely closed and lockedso that the doors cannot be inad- vertently opened from the inside. This helps ensure that the doorswill not be opened accidentally.Also, when combined with theproper use of seat belts, lockingthe doors helps keep occupants from being ejected from the car in case of an accident.
o Before opening the door, always
look for and avoid oncoming traf-fic.

o To protect against theft, always
remove the ignition key, close all windows, and lock all doors andthe trunk lid when leaving yourvehicle unattended.
Your Hyundai is equipped with a "child-
protector" rear door lock assembly.When the lock mechanism is engaged,the rear door cannot be opened fromthe inside. Its use is recommendedwhenever there are small children in the rear seat. To engage the child-protector feature so that the door cannot be openedfrom the inside, move the child-protec-tor lever to the " " position and close the door. Move the lever to the oppo- site direction of the " " position whennormal door operation is desired.
B040D01S-AAT Locking From the Inside To lock the doors from the inside, simply close the door and push thelock switch to the "LOCK" position.When this is done, neither the outside nor the inside door handle can be used. NOTE: When the door is locked, the red mark on the switch is not visible.

B040E03A-AAT CHILD-PROTECTOR REAR DOOR LOCKIf you wish to be able to open the door from the outside, the outside doorhandle will function normally.
B040G01L-AAT Central Door Locks The central door locking switch is lo- cated on the driver's arm rest. It isoperated by depressing the door lockswitch. If any door is open when the switch is depressed, the door will re- main locked when closed. NOTE:
o When pushing the front portion

B070A01S-AAT THEFT-ALARM SYSTEM (If installed) This system is designed to provide protection from unauthorized entry intothe car. This system is operated inthree stages: the first is the "Armed"stage, the second is the "Alarm" stage, and the third is the "Disarmed" stage. If triggered, the system provides anaudible alarm siren. B070B03Y-AAT Armed Stage Park the car and stop the engine. Arm the system as described below.
1) Remove the ignition key from the
ignition switch.
2) Make sure that the engine hood and
trunk lid are locked.
3) Lock the doors using the transmitter
of the keyless entry system.
o When pushing the rear portion of
the switch, all vehicle doors will unlock.

After completion of the steps above, the turn signal light will blink once toindicate that the system is armed. NOTE:
1) If any door, trunk lid or engine
hood remains open, the system will not be armed.
2) If this happens, rearm the system
as described above.
CAUTION:
Do not arm the system until allpassengers have left the car. If thesystem is armed while apassenger(s) remains in the car, the alarm may be activated when the remaining passenger(s) leavesthe car.HXGS123
B070C03L-AAT Alarm Stage The alarm will be activated if any of the following occurs while the car is parkedand the system is armed.
1) A front or rear door is opened with-
out using the transmitter.
2) The trunk lid is opened without us-
ing the transmitter.
3) The engine hood is opened.The turn signal light will blink continu- ously and the siren will sound for 27seconds. (EC only/Except E.C: 3times). To turn off the system, unlockthe door or trunk lid with the transmit-ter.
