Exhaust gas cutoff mode :
Air enters the vehicle from the outside. But if exhaust gas enters the vehiclefrom the outside, the exhaust gas cut-off mode ( ) is automatically con-verted to the ( ) mode, to prevent exhaust gas from entering the vehicle. NOTE:
o It should be noted that prolonged operation of the heating system in recirculation mode ( ) willgive rise to misting of the winds-hield and side windows and the air within the passenger com- partment will become stale. Inaddition, prolonged use of theair conditioning with the recircu-lation mode ( ) selected may result in the air within the pas- senger compartment becomingexcessively dry. "ON", the air intake control willchange to ( ) mode (regardless
of switch position). This is normaloperation. The air intake control operates in "AUTO" mode when turning the ignition to the ON po-sition if the "AUTO" mode wasused before shutting off the en-gine.
CAUTION:
If the windows fog up with the Re-circulation or A.Q.S mode selected, set the air intake control to the Fresh air position or A.Q.S controlto "OFF".

1. POWER ON-OFF/VOLUME
CONTROL KNOB
The radio unit may be operated when the ignition key is in the "ACC" or "ON"position. Press the button to switch thepower on. The display shows the radiofrequency in the radio mode, the tape direction indicator in the tape mode, or CD track in the CD AUTO CHANGERmode. To switch the power off, pressthe button again. VOLUME Control Rotate the knob clockwise to increase the volume and turn the knob counter- clockwise to reduce the volume.
2. BASS/BALANCE Control BASS Control Knob Press to pop the knob out. To increase the bass, rotate the knob clockwise,while to decrease the bass, rotate the knob counterclockwise. 4. TUNE (Manual) Select Button Press the (+) side or (-) side to in- crease or to decrease the frequency.With the button held down for 0.5 sec.or more, the frequency selection willincrease or decrease rapidly. SEEK Operation (Automatic Channel Selection) Press the TUNE select button 1 sec. or more. When the (+) side is pressed, theunit will automatically tune to the nexthigher frequency and when
the (-) side
is pressed, it will automatically tune to the next lower frequency. 5. PRESET STATION Select

o To use the CD auto changer
1. Open the sliding lid of the CD auto
changer.
2. To eject the compact disc maga- zine, press the EJECT button lo- cated in the CD auto changer.
3. Insert the discs into the magazine.
4. Push the megazine into the CD auto
changer and close the sliding lid.
o The CD auto changer can be used when the ignition switch is in either "ON" or "ACC" position.

o Insert the CD with the label facing
upward.
o Insert the CD to start CD playback,
during radio operation or cassette tape playing.
o When a disc is in the CD deck, if you
press the play button the CD playerwill begin playing even if the radio or cassette player is being used.
o The CD player can be used when
the ignition switch is in either the "ON" or "ACC" position.

unit, keep the vehicle interior tem- perature within a normal range by using the vehicle's air condition- ing or heating system.
o When replacing the fuse, replace it with a fuse having the correctcapacity.
o The preset station frequencies are all erased when the car bat-tery is disconnected. Therefore,all data will have to be set againif this should occur.
o Do not add any oil to the rotating parts. Keep magnets, screwdriv- ers and other metallic objects away from the tape mechanismand head.
o This equipment is designed to
be used only in a 12 volt DCbattery system with negative ground.
o This unit is made of precision parts. Do not attempt to disas- semble or adjust any parts.

o The playback head, capstan and
pinch rollers will develop a coating of tape residue that can result in dete-rioration of sound quality, such as awavering sound. They should be cleaned monthly using a commer- cially available head cleaning tape orspecial solution available from audiospecialty shops. Follow the supplier'sdirections carefully and never oil anypart of the tape player unit.
o Always be sure that the tape is tightly
wound on its reel before inserting inthe player. Rotate a pencil in thedrive sprockets to wind up any slack. B860A03L
NOTE: Look at a tape before you insert it. If the tape is loose, tighten it byturning one of the hubs with a pencilor your finger. If the label is peeling off, do not put it in the drive mechanism.Do not leave tapes sitting wherethey are exposed to hot, warm, orhigh humidity, such as on top ofthe dashboard or in the player. If a tape is exposed to excessively hot or cold, let it reach a moderatetemperature before putting it in theplayer.B870B01Y-AAT Power Antenna (If installed) The antenna will automatically be ex- tended when the radio power switch isturned on while the ignition key is ineither the "ON" or "ACC" position. When the radio power switch is turned on while the ignition key is in either the"ON" or "ACC" position, your car willreceive both AM and FM broadcast signals through the antenna in the rear window glass. RADIO "ON"
CAUTION:
o Before turning on the radio, make sure that no one is near the an- tenna.
o Before entering an automatic car wash or a place with a low heightclearance, be sure that the an-tenna is retracted and stored.
o If the antenna is dirty, be sure to
clean it in order to avoid an op-eration malfunction. CAUTION:
o Do not clean the inner side of the rear window glass with an abra-sive type of glass cleaner or usea scraper to remove the foreigndeposits from the inner surfaceof the glass as this may cause damage to the antenna elements.
o Avoid adding metalic coating such as Ni, Cd, and so on. These can disturb receiving AM and FMbroadcast signals.
