4. CHECK IGNITION COIL POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-I
1. Turn ignition switch ON.
2. Check voltage between ECM terminals 109, 111 and ground

1. Turn ignition switch ON.

4. CHECK IGNITION COIL POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-I
1. Turn ignition switch ON.
2. Check voltage between ECM terminals 109, 111 and ground
with CONSULT-II or tester.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 5.
NG >> Go to EC-848, "
POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT FOR ECM"
.
5. CHECK IGNITION COIL POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-II
Check voltage between ECM terminal 12 and ground with CON-
SULT-II or tester.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 10.
NG >> GO TO 6.
6. CHECK IGNITION COIL POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-III
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect ECM harness connector.
3. Disconnect ECM relay.
4. Check harness continuity between ECM terminal 12 and ECM
relay terminal 7. Refer to Wiring Diagram.
5. Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 7.
NG >> Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power
in harness or connectors.
7. CHECK IGNITION COIL POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT-IV
Check voltage between ECM relay terminal 6 and ground with CON-
SULT-II or tester.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 9.
NG >> GO TO 8.Voltage: Battery voltage

8.DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
●20A fuse
●Harness or connectors E61, F38
●Harness for open and short between ECM relay and fuse
>> Repair or replace harness or connectors.
9.CHECK ECM RELAY
Refer to EC-853, "
Component Inspection" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 17.
NG >> Replace ECM relay.
10.CHECK CONDENSER CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Disconnect condenser harness connector.
3. Check harness continuity between ECM terminal 12 and con-
denser terminal 1, condenser terminal 2 and engine ground.
Refer to Wiring Diagram.
4. Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 11.
NG >> Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power
in harness or connectors.
11 . CHECK CONDENSER
Refer to EC-1081, "
Component Inspection" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 12.
NG >> Replace condenser.Continuity should exist.

2. Reconnect all harness connectors disconnected.
3. Disconnect ignition coil harness connector.
4. Turn ignition switch ON.
5. Check voltage between ignition coil terminal 1 and ground with
CONSULT-II or tester.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 14.
NG >> GO TO 13.
13. DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
●Harness for open or short between ignition coil and ECM relay
●Harness for open or short between ignition coil and ECM
>> Repair or replace harness or connectors.
14. CHECK IGNITION COIL GROUND CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
1. Turn ignition switch OFF.
2. Check harness continuity between ignition coil terminal 2 and engine ground.
Refer to Wiring Diagram.
3. Also check harness for short to power.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 15.
NG >> Repair open circuit or short to power in harness or connectors.

2. Check harness continuity between ECM terminals 21, 22, 23, 24 and ignition coil terminal 3.
Refer to Wiring Diagram.
3. Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 16.
NG >> Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
16.CHECK IGNITION COIL WITH POWER TRANSISTOR
Refer to EC-1081, "
Component Inspection" .
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 17.
NG >> Replace ignition coil with power transistor.
17.CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Refer to EC-847, "
TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS FOR INTERMITTENT INCIDENT" .

IGNITION COIL WITH POWER TRANSISTOR
1. Turn ignition switch “OFF”.
2. Disconnect ignition coil harness connector.
3. Check resistance between ignition coil terminals as follows.
CONDENSER
1. Turn ignition switch “OFF”.
2. Disconnect condenser harness connector.
3. Check resistance between condenser terminals as 1 and 2.Continuity should exist.

Diagnostic ProcedureEBS00N21
1.INSPECTION START
Turn ignition switch to “START”.
Is any cylinder ignited?
Ye s o r N o
Ye s > > G O T O 2 .
No >> GO TO 3.
2.CHECK OVERALL FUNCTION
With CONSULT-II
1. Start engine.
2. Perform “POWER BALANCE” in “ACTIVE TEST” mode with
CONSULT-II.
3. Make sure that each circuit produces a momentary engine
speed drop.
Without CONSULT-II
1. Start engine.
2. Listen to each injector operating sound.
Clicking noise should be heard.
OK or NG
OK >>INSPECTION END
NG >> GO TO 3.

INJECTOR CIRCUIT
3. CHECK INJECTOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
1. Turn ignition switch “OFF”.
2. Disconnect injector harness connector.
3. Turn ignition switch “ON”.
4. Check voltage between injector terminal 1 and ground with
CONSULT-II or tester.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 5.
NG >> GO TO 4.
4. DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
Check the following.
●Harness connectors M61, F41
●Harness connectors F1, F101
●Fuse block (J/B) connector M1
●10A fuse
●Harness for open or short between injector and fuse
>> Repair harness or connectors.
5. CHECK INJECTOR OUTPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR OPEN AND SHORT
1. Turn ignition switch “OFF”.
2. Disconnect ECM harness connector.
3. Check harness continuity between injector terminal 2 and ECM terminals 101, 102, 103, 104.
Refer to Wiring Diagram.
4. Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
OK or NG
OK >> GO TO 7.
NG >> GO TO 6.
