Seat Belt System
Sealbelts help to decrease the possibility
of severe injury during accidents and
sLrdden stops. Mazda recommends ihat

For oprimum protection, the driver and
front passenger seat belts are equipped
with pretensioner and load limiting
In moderute or greai€r frontal or
near-frontal accidents, the froni air bag
and pretensioner sysiems deploy
simulianeously. The preiensioners take
up slack in the front seat belts as ihe air
bags are expanding. The load limiring

The pretensioner system will only

fronral or neaFfrontal collision. It
will not aclivate in side or rear
Some snoke (non-toxic gas) will
be released when the air bags and
pretensioners deploy. This does not
indicate a fire. This gas normally
has no effect on occupants,
howevet those with sensilive skin
may experience light skin
iritation. If r€sidue from the
deployment of the air bags or the
front pretensioner system gets on
the skin or in the eyes. wash it off
The seat belt pretensioners will
only function once. Aft.-r they are
expended. they will not work again
and must be replaced immediately,
even if tbere was no front seat
occupant seated at the time.
