WARNING: FOLLOWING DISCONNECTION OF THE
BATTERY A PERIOD OF AT LEAST ONE MINUTE MUST BE
ALLOWED TO ELAPSE BEFORE WORKING ON A FRONT SEAT WITH
A SIDE AIRBAG FITTED.
Remove battery cover and disc onnect ground cable from
battery. Refer to 86.15.19.
2. Remove front seat for ac cess. Refer to 76.70.01.
3. Remove seat back fini sher. Refer to 76.70.09.
4. Remove front seat headrest. Refer to 76.70.14.
5. Remove front seat squab co ver. Refer to 76.70.15.
6. Routing multiplug through aperture, carefully release squab
heater adhesive stri ps from squab pad.
1. Remove protective backing pape r from heater self adhesive
strips.
2. Align heater to pad and appl y firm pressure to ensure
adhesion.
3. Route heater harness through pad aperture.
4. Position squab cover over squab pad and heater element,
ensuring that headrest gu ides pass through pad.
5. Connect heater harness multiplug and position multiplug in
mounting bracket.
6. Fit squab cover and pad. Refer to 76.70.15.
7. Fit seat back finisher. Refer to 76.70.09.
8. Fit headrest. Refer to 76.70.14.
9. Install front seat in vehi cle. Refer to 76.70.01.
10. Connect ground cable to batt ery terminal and fit battery
cover. Refer to 86.15.15.

1. Motor seat to fully forward and fully reclined position.
2. Motor headrest to fully raised position.
3. CAUTION: Do not use excessive force when removing
headrest as this can damage or misalign the internal retaining
cups. If difficulty is experienced, proceed to steps 3 to 8.
From rear seat, gras p stems and pull firm ly and evenly to
withdraw headrest from seat squab.
4. Motor seat to partly upright position.
5. Remove seat back finisher for access. Refer to 76.70.09, or
76.70.09.50 for Daimler and Vanden Plas models.
6. Re-position retaining cups and en sure that headrest stems are
correctly aligned.
7. Supporting retaining cu ps, partially withdraw headrest ensuring that it does not contact headlining.
8. Motor seat to fully reclined position.
9. Pulling evenly on stems, comp letely withdraw headrest from
seat.
1. Position headrest on seat squab.
2. NOTE: If back finisher is instal led and difficulty is experienced
in seating headrest stems in cu ps, remove back finisher to
facilitate alignment. Refer to 76.70.09 or 76.70.09.50

Slide headrest stems evenly into seat squab ensuring that
stems locate correctly
in retaining cups.
3. Motor seat to upright position.
4. If seat back finisher has been removed for access, refer to
76.70.09 or 76.70.09.50 for installation.
5. Motor seat and headrest to original positions.

1. Power seat fully forward and position squab in fully upright
position.
2. Remove front seat back finisher. Refer to 76.70.09.
3. Remove battery cover and disc onnect ground cable from
battery terminal. (Refer to 86.15.19)
4. Release and remove se at tensioner spring.
5. Slacken and remove headrest motor securing screws and
remove drive cable retaining plate.
6. Withdraw drive cable from motor.
7. Release motor harness multiplug (yellow) from mounting
bracket, position motor for acce ss and disconnect multiplug.
8. Remove headrest motor from seat.
1. Position motor in seat frame, connect harness multiplug and
seat multiplug in mounting bracket.
2. Install motor on headrest driv e cable and align with mounting
bracket.
3. Fit motor securing screws and drive cable retaining plate.

Seating - Rear Seat Backrest Cover

1. Remove rear heel boards.
2. Remove rear seat cushion. Refer to 76.70.37.
3. Remove rear seat belt ecutcheon. Refer to 76.73.18.
4. Remove rear seat squa b. Refer to 76.70.38.
5. Place seat squab inverted on clean work surface.
6. Withdraw clips from headrest supports and remove headrests
from seat squab.
7. Remove the six clips securing re ar seat armrest aperture cover
to frame and position cover for access.
8. Slacken and remove the two sq uab mounting bracket screws
and remove brackets from frame.
9. Remove and discard the three ho g rings securing armrest rear
cover retaining strip, release strip from frame and remove arm
rest.

10. Releasing lower ends , withdraw headrest guide tubes and
trims from support boxes.
11. Release squab cover from the eight armrest aperture securing tangs.
12. Remove and discard all hog rings securing cover to outer
edge of frame.
13. Release cover retaining strip from frame top and free cover
from cushion edges.
14. Position cover for access an d remove and discard 17 hog
rings securing cover left hand panel to frame.

6. Using 44 hog rings, secure co ver to outer edges of frame.
7. Position cover inside armrest ap erture and secure on the eight
armrest aperture tangs.
8. CAUTION: The apertures in the foam are over-size and
must not be used for guidance wh en cutting seat belt escutcheon
apertures in cover.
Using a suitable knife, carefully cut around headrest support
box and seat belt apertures.
9. With keyways facing forward, fit headrest guide tubes in
support boxes.
10. Ensure that lower segmented end of each headrest guide
tube fully seats on lower flange of support box.

11. Fit chrome finisher rings to upper ends of headrest guide
tubes.
12. Position armrest on seat squab and fit and tighten two
securing screws.
13. Position armrest rear cover on frame fully seat upper
retaining strip and secure with three hog rings.
14. Position squab mounting brackets and fit and tighten securing screws.
15. Fit and fully seat the six armres t rear aperture cover spring
clips.
16. Fit and fully seat headrests in guide tubes and fit securing
clips.
