(6) Varmistakaa etta ajoneuvon nopeus on vahemman kuin 80 km/h avatessanne etupeitetta. (7) Alkaa laittako matkatavaraa tai muita painavia esi­neita peitteen paaJle tai sen lahetyville.

& CAUTION (1) To avoid personal injury, keep the head and hands clear of the front canvas sunroof when it is opened or closed. (2) Do not stick head, hands or anything else out of the front canvas sunroof opening while driving the _ vehicle. (3) Do not leave the key in the" ACC" or "ON" position when a child (or other person who might be hand­icapped for safe operation of the front canvas sunroof switch) is to be left in the vehicle alone. (4) When leaving the vehicle unattended, be sure to close the front canvas sunroof and remove the ignition key. (5) After washing the vehicle or-after it has rained, wipe off any water that is on the front canvas sunroof before operating it. .
(6) Make sure that the vehicle speed is 80 km/h (50 mph) or less when opening or closing the front canvas sunroof. (7) Do not place luggage or any heavy objects on the front canvas sunroof itself, or the area round it.

The hazard warning flashers can always be operated, regardless of the position of the ignition key.
Push the switch to turn on the hazard warning flashers; push the switch again to turn them off.When this switch is
operated , all turn-signal lamps flash continuously, as do the hazard warning indication lamp and the turn-signal in­dication lamps .

& CAUTION (1) Do not remove the ignition key from the ignition switch while driving. The steering wheel will be locked, causing loss of control. (2) If the engine is stopped while driving, the brake servomechanism will cease to function and braking efficiency will deteriorate. Also, power steering system will not function and it will require greater manual effort to operate the steering. (3) Do not leave the key in the "ON" position for a long time when the engine is not running; doing so will cause the battery to be discharged. (4) Do not turn the key to the "START" position when the engine is running; doing so could damage the starter motor.

Remove the key at the "LOCK" position. Slightly turn the steering wheel until it is
locked.
TO UNLOCK
Turn the key to the "ACe position while moving the steering wheel slightly.

Tips for starting (1) Do not oper ate the starter motor continuously for longer than 10 seconds ; doing so cou ld run down the battery . If the engine does not sta rt, turn the ignition switch back to the "LOCK" , wait a few minutes, and then try again. (2) If the engine cannot be started because the battery is weak or dead , refer to th e eme rgency starting section for instru c­tions on startin g the engine. (3) After starting the engi ne, do not keep the engine idling without driving. Only when the atmospheric temperature is
very low. warm up th e engine at a high idling speed .
& CAUTION (1) For petrol-powered vehicles. do not keep the en­gine running for a long time in a closed or poorly ventilated place. Carbon monoxide gas is odourless and extremely poisonous. (2) Do not run the engine at high rpm or drive the vehicle at high speed until the engine has had a chance to warm up. (3) Release the ignition key as soon as the engine starts to avoid damaging the starter motor. (4) For diesel-powered vehicles do not stop the engine immediately after operating the vehicle at high speeds. Allow the engine to idle for approximately 60 seconds or more to give the turbocharger a chance to cool down.

Diesel-powered vehicles EI02S·K
Vehicles not equipped with diesel preheat indica­
tion lamp
1 . Apply the parking brake.
2. On vehicles with a manual transmission , move the gearshift
lever to neutral and depress the clutch pedal all the way. On
vehicles with an automatic transmi ssion, move the selector
lever to the" P" position . 3. Operate the accelerator pedal as described below in accor­
dance with the atmospheric temperature and/or engine condition and then start the engine .
(1) When the atmospheric temperature is moderate or the
engine is warm , start the engine without depressing the
accelerator pedal.
(2) When the atmospheric temperature is low and the engine is cold, start the engine while depressing the accelerator
pedal. If the atmospheric temperature is very low, setting
the ignition switch to ON for one or two seconds before attempting to start the engine will make it easier to start
Vehicles equipped with the diesel preheat indication
lamp
1. Apply the parking brake. 2. On vehicles with a manual transmission , move the gearshift
lever to neutral and depress the clutch pedal all the way. On
vehicles with an automatic transmission , move the selector
lever to the" P" position .
3. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position. The diesel­
preheat indication lamp will first illuminate in red , and then
after a short time change
to green, indicating that preheat­
ing is completed.

(1) Kun ilman liimpotila on normaali tai moottori liimmin kiiynnistiikiiii moottori painamatta kaasupoljinta. (2) Kun ilman liimpotila on matala ja moottori on kylmii kiiynnistiikiiii moottori samalla painaen kaasupoljinta . Ilman liimpotilan ollessa hyvin matala kiiynnistyy moottori helpommin jos virta-avaimen kiiiintiiii "ON" asentoon muutamaksi sekunniksi ennenkuin moottori kiiynnistetiiiin.

NOTE
The green illumination will automatically stop after a certain
time passes after the glow plug heating has been completed. This is in order to prevent a drain of battery power.
If the green illumination stops, turn the ignition key once more to the "LOCK" position, and then to the "ON" position, in order to preheat again.
4. Operate
the accelerator pedal as described below in accor­
dance with the atmospheric temperature and/or engine condition and then start the engine.
(1) When the atmospheric temperature is moderate or the engine is warm, start the engine without depressing the
accelerator pedal.
(2) When the atmospheric temperature is low and the engine is
co ld, start the engine while depressing the accelerator
pedal. If the atmospheric temperature is very low, setting the ignition switch to "ON" for one or two seconds before attempting to start the engine will make it easier to start.
