filler caps are on.

Service & Appearance Care
When you replace your radiator pressure
cap. an
AC3 cap is recommended.
Thermostat
Engine coolant temperature is controlled
by a thermostat in the engine coolant
system. The thermostat stops the flow
of
coolant through the radiator until the
coolant reaches a preset temperature.
When you replace
your thermostat, an
AC@ thermostat is recommended.

Power Steering Fluid
How to Check Power Steering Fluid:
Unscrew the cap and wipe the dipstick
with a clean rag. Replace the cap and
completely tighten
it. Then remove the
cap again and look at the fluid level
on
the dipstick.

Below are explanations of the services listed in Schedule I
and Schedule 11.
The proper fluids and lubricants
to use are listed in Section
D. Make sure whoever services your vehicle uses these. All

1 Engine Oil and Filter Change* - Always use SG
Energy Conserving I1 oils of proper viscosity. The
SG designation may be shown alone or in
combination with others, such as
SGKC, SG/CD,
or SF, SG, CC, etc. To determine the preferred
viscosity for your vehicle’s engine (e.g., SAE
5W-30 or 10W-30), see “Engine Oil” in the Index.
2 Chassis Lubrication - If your vehicle is equipped
with grease fittings, lubricate the suspension and
steering linkage. Lubricate the transmission shift
linkage. parts should be replaced and all necessary repairs done
before
you or anyone else drives the vehicle.
NOTE: To determine your engine’s displacement and code, see ‘‘Engine Identification” in the Index.

3 Tire and Wheel Rotation and Inspection - For
proper wear and maximum tire life, rotate your tires
following the instructions in this manual. See “Tires, Inspection and Rotation’’
in the Index.
Check the tires for uneven wear or damage. If
you
see irregular or premature wear, check the wheel
alignment. Check for damaged wheels also.
Inspect the belt for cracks, fraying, wear and proper
tension. Replace
as needed.

Brake Transmission
Shift Interlock-BTS:
Steering Column Lock

When .you are doing this check, the vehicle could move suddenly. If it does, you I
or others could be iniured. Follow the steps below.
1. Before you start, be sure you have enough room around the vehicle. It should be parked \
on
2. Firmly apply the parking brake (see “Parking Brake” in the Index if necessary).
NOTE: Be ready to apply the regular brake immediately if the vehicle begins to move.
3. With the engine off, turn the key to the Run position, but don’t start the engine. Without
a
level surface.

try to move the shift lever out of P (Park) with normal effort. If
the shift lever moves out of P (Park), your vehicle’s BTSI needs service.
While parked, and
with the parking brake set, try to turn the key to LOCK in each shift lever
position.
With an automatic transmission, the key should turn to LOCK only when the shift lever is in
With a manual transmission, the key should turn to LOCK only when you press the key
On vehicles with a key release button,
try to turn the key to LOCK without pressing the button.
The key should turn to
LOCK only with the key button depressed. On all vehicles, the key

come out only in LOCK.
