LOAD CARRYING PRECAUTIONS
Keep your loaded vehicle weight withinits design rating capability, with orwithout a trailer. Properly loading yourvehicle provides maximum return ofvehicle design performance. Before youload your vehicle, become familiar withthe following terms for determining yourvehicle’s weight rating, with or withouta trailer, from the vehicle’s Tire andLoading Information label or SafetyCompliance Certification label.
WARNING: The appropriateloading capacity of your vehicle canbe limited either by volume capacity(how much space is available) or by
payload capacity (how much weightthe vehicle should carry). Once youhave reached the maximum payloadof your vehicle, do not add morecargo, even if there is space available.Overloading or improperly loadingyour vehicle can contribute to loss ofvehicle control and vehicle rollover.
WARNING: Exceeding the SafetyCompliance Certification label vehicleweight limits can adversely affect theperformance and handling of yourvehicle, cause vehicle damage andcan result in the loss of control of yourvehicle, serious personal injury ordeath.
WARNING: Do not usereplacement tires with lower loadcarrying capacities than the originaltires because they may lower yourvehicle's GVWR and GAWR limitations.Replacement tires with a higher limitthan the original tires do not increasethe GVWR and GAWR limitations.
WARNING: Do not exceed theGVWR or the GAWR specified on thecertification label.
WARNING: Exceeding anyvehicle weight rating can adverselyaffect the performance and handlingof your vehicle, cause vehicle damageand can result in the loss of control ofyour vehicle, serious personal injuryor death.
WARNING: When loading theroof racks, we recommend you evenlydistribute the load, as well as maintaina low center of gravity. Loadedvehicles, with higher centers of gravity, may handle differently than unloadedvehicles. Take extra precautions, suchas slower speeds and increasedstopping distance, when driving aheavily loaded vehicle.
The gross combined weight must neverexceed the Gross Combined WeightRating.

LOCATING THE SAFETY
COMPLIANCE CERTIFICATION
LABELS
Safety Compliance Certification LabelExample:
The Safety Compliance Certification label islocated on the door hinge pillar, door-latchpost, or the door edge that meets thedoor-latch post, next to the driver seatingposition.
WHAT IS THE GROSS AXLE
WEIGHT RATING
GAWR (Gross Axle Weight Rating)
GAWR is the maximum allowable weightthat a single axle (front or rear) can carry. These numbers are on the SafetyCompliance Certification label.
WHAT IS THE GROSS VEHICLE
WEIGHT RATING
GVWR is the maximum allowable weightof the fully loaded vehicle. This includesall options, equipment, passengers andcargo. It appears on the SafetyCompliance Certification label.
WHAT IS THE GROSS COMBINED
WEIGHT RATING
Gross Combined Weight Rating (GCWR)is the maximum allowable weight of thevehicle and the loaded trailer, includingall cargo and passengers, that thevehicle can handle without riskingdamage. (Important: The towingvehicle’s braking system is rated foroperation at Gross Vehicle WeightRating, not at Gross Combined WeightRating.) Separate functional brakesshould be used for safe control of towedvehicles and for trailers where the GrossCombined Weight of the towing vehicleplus the trailer exceed the Gross VehicleWeight Rating of the towing vehicle.See Recommended Towing Weights(page 391).

ROOF RACK (IF EQUIPPED)
ROOF RACK PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: Read and follow themanufacturer's instructions when you arefitting a roof rack.
WARNING: When loading the roofracks, we recommend you evenly distributethe load, as well as maintain a low centerof gravity. Loaded vehicles, with highercenters of gravity, may handle differentlythan unloaded vehicles. Take extraprecautions, such as slower speeds andincreased stopping distance, when drivinga heavily loaded vehicle.
Note:If you use a roof rack, the fuelconsumption of your vehicle will be higherand you may experience different drivingcharacteristics.
Note:Never place loads directly on the roofpanel. The roof panel is not designed todirectly carry a load.
Make sure that you securely fasten the load. Check the tightness of the load beforedriving and at each fuel stop.

CHECKING THE TIRE PRESSURES
Safe operation of your vehicle requiresthat your tires are properly inflated.Every day before you drive, check yourtires.
At least once a month and before longtrips, inspect each tire and check the tirepressure with a tire gauge. Inflate alltires to the recommended inflationpressure. See Inflating the Tires (page471).
INFLATING THE TIRES
WARNING: Under-inflation is themost common cause of tire failures
and may result in severe tire cracking, tread separation or blowout, withunexpected loss of vehicle control andincreased risk of injury. Under-inflationincreases sidewall flexing and rollingresistance, resulting in heat buildup
and internal damage to the tire. It alsomay result in unnecessary tire stress, irregular wear, loss of vehicle controland accidents. A tire can lose up tohalf of its air pressure and not appearto be flat!
WARNING: Do not use the tirepressure displayed in the informationdisplay as a tire pressure gauge.Failure to follow this instruction couldresult in personal injury or death.
Use the recommended cold inflationpressure for optimum tire performanceand wear. Under-inflation orover-inflation may cause uneventreadwear patterns.
Inflate your tires to the recommendedinflation pressure even if it is less thanthe maximum inflation pressureinformation found on the tire. You canfind the tire label with the recommendedtire inflation pressure next to the tire sizeon the B-Pillar or the edge of the driverdoor.
The recommended tire inflation pressureis also found on the Safety ComplianceCertification Label, affixed to either thedoor hinge pillar, door-latch post, or thedoor edge that meets the door-latch onthe B-pillar, or on the edge of the driverdoor.
Failure to follow the tire pressurerecommendations can cause uneventreadwear patterns and adversely affectthe way your vehicle handles.

8.When the recommended tire pressure isreached, turn off the kit, unplug thepower cable, and disconnect the hosefrom the tire valve. Re-install the valvecap on the tire valve and return the kit tothe rear of the vehicle.
9.Drive the vehicle 4 mi (6 km) to distributethe sealant evenly inside the tire.
Note:If you experience any unusualvibration, ride disturbance or noise whiledriving, reduce your speed until you cansafely pull off to the side of the road to callfor roadside assistance. Do not proceed tothe second stage of this operation.
Second Stage: Checking the tirepressure with the inflator kit
WARNING: If the tire does not inflateto the recommended tire pressure within15 minutes, stop and call roadsideassistance.
WARNING: The power plug may gethot after use and should be handledcarefully when unplugging.
Check the air pressure of your tires asfollows:
1.Remove the valve cap from the tire valve.
2.Firmly screw the air compressor hoseonto the valve stem by turning clockwise.
3.Push and turn the dial clockwise to theair position.
4.If required, turn on the compressor andadjust the tire to the recommendedinflation pressure.
5.Unplug the hoses, re-install the valve capon the tire and return the kit to the rearof the vehicle.
What to do after the tire has beensealed
After using the kit to seal your tire, replacethe sealant canister. Sealant canisters andspare parts can be obtained at an authorizeddealer. Empty sealant canisters may bedisposed of at home. However, canisters stillcontaining liquid sealant should be disposedof in accordance with local waste disposalregulation.
Removal of the sealant canister from thekit
1.Unwrap the dual purpose hose (blacktube) from the compressor housing.

ROLLOVER WARNING
WARNING: Utility vehicles have asignificantly higher rollover rate than othertypes of vehicles.
WARNING: Vehicles with a highercenter of gravity (utility and four-wheeldrive vehicles) handle differently thanvehicles with a lower center of gravity(passenger cars). Avoid sharp turns, excessive speed and abrupt steering inthese vehicles. Failure to drive cautiouslyincreases the risk of losing control of yourvehicle, vehicle rollover, personal injuryand death.
WARNING: In a rollover crash, anunbelted person is significantly more likelyto die than a person wearing a seatbelt.
WARNING: Do not becomeoverconfident in the ability of four-wheeldrive vehicles. Although a four-wheel drivevehicle may accelerate better than atwo-wheel drive vehicle in low tractionsituations, it won't stop any faster thantwo-wheel drive vehicles. Always drive ata safe speed.
Utility vehicles and trucks handle differentlythan passenger cars in the various drivingconditions that are encountered on streets, highways and off-road. Utility vehicles andtrucks are not designed for cornering atspeeds as high as passenger cars any morethan low-slung sports cars are designed toperform satisfactorily under off-roadconditions.
