Note:If you have unlocked the doors usingthis method, you must lock the doorsindividually to restore the central lockingfunction.
Unlocking the Luggage Compartment(Convertible Only)
If the power decklid release does notoperate because of a discharged battery,pull the rear seat left-hand side seatbackcushion aside, insert the mechanical keyblade into the key slot and turn the key torelease the decklid latch.
Opening the LuggageCompartment
From Inside Your Vehicle
Press the button on the instrument panelto open the luggage compartment.
From Outside Your Vehicle
Press the exterior release button hiddenabove the license plate. You need to haveyour vehicle unlocked or have an intelligentaccess key within 3 ft (1 m) of the luggagecompartment.
With the Remote Control
Press twice within three secondsto open the luggagecompartment.
Illuminated Entry
The interior lamps and select exteriorlamps illuminate when you unlock thedoors with the remote entry system.
The illuminated entry system turns off thelights if:
•The ignition is on.
•You press the remote control lockbutton.
•After 25 seconds of illumination.
The lights do not turn off if:
•You switch them on with the lampcontrol.
•Any door is open.

Note:The lights on the front fog lamps turnoff when you switch the high beams on.
Front Fog Lamp Indicator
It illuminates when you switchthe front fog lamps on.
DIRECTION INDICATORS
Push the lever up or down to use thedirection indicators.
Note:Tap the lever up or down to make thedirection indicators flash three times toindicate a lane change.
WELCOME LIGHTING
The projection lights are on the bottom ofthe exterior mirror housings. They projectan image onto the ground a short distancefrom your vehicle when welcome lightingor lighted entry turns on.
Note:Moisture, frost and ice build-up orother types of contamination on the surfaceof the light lens can cause non-permanentdistortion or reduced brightness of theimage. Do not use abrasive materials toclean the lens.
Note:For vehicles with manualtransmission, you may need to engage theparking brake for this feature to operate.
INTERIOR LAMPS
The lamps turn on under the followingconditions:
•You open any door.
•You press a remote control button.
•You press a map lamp button.

Left-hand side map lamp.A
Right-hand side map lamp.B
Press the button to switch the lamps onor off.
AMBIENT LIGHTING (IF EQUIPPED)
Adjust the ambient lighting in theinformation display. See GeneralInformation (page 98).

Make sure to change your vehicle’s oils andfluids at the specified intervals or inconjunction with a repair. Flushing is aviable way to change fluid for many vehiclesub-systems during scheduledmaintenance. It is critical that systems areflushed only with new fluid that is the sameas that required to fill and operate the
system or using a Ford-approved flushingchemical.
Owner Checks and Services
Make sure you perform the following basicmaintenance checks and inspections everymonth or at six-month intervals.
Check every month
Engine oil level.
For severe use, high engine speed and engine loads, engine braking and track use, checkengine oil level every fuel fill-up.
Function of all interior and exterior lights.
Tires, including spare, for wear and proper pressure.
Windshield washer fluid level.
Check every six months
Battery connections. Clean if necessary.
Body and door drain holes for obstructions. Clean if necessary.
Cooling system fluid level and coolant strength.
Door weatherstrips for wear. Lubricate if necessary.
Hinges, latches and outside locks for proper operation. Lubricate if necessary.
Parking brake for proper operation.
Seatbelts and seat latches for wear and function.
Safety warning lamps operation for brake, ABS, airbag and seatbelt.
Washer spray and wiper operation. Clean or replace blades as necessary.
