Some of the datarecorded is stored in event logs or errorlogs.

Note:We may provide information inresponse to requests from law enforcement,other government authorities and thirdparties acting with lawful authority orthrough a legal process. Such informationcould be used by them in legal proceedings.
Data recorded includes, for example:
•Operating states of systemcomponents, for example fuel level,tire pressure and battery charge level.
•Vehicle and component status, forexample wheel speed, deceleration,lateral acceleration and seatbeltstatus.
•Events or errors in essential systems,for example headlamps and brakes.
•System responses to driving situations,for example airbag deployment andstability control.
•Environmental conditions, for exampletemperature.
Some of this data, when used incombination with other information, forexample an accident report, damage to avehicle or eyewitness statements, couldbe associated with a specific person.

If you use our services, we collect and usedata, for example account information,vehicle location and driving characteristics,that could identify you. We transmit thisdata through a dedicated, protectedconnection. We only collect and use datato enable your use of our services to whichyou have subscribed, with your consent orwhere permitted by law. Note:Event data recorder data is recordedby your vehicle only if a non-trivial crashsituation occurs; no data is recorded by theevent data recorder under normal drivingconditions and no personal data orinformation (for example name, gender,age, and crash location) is recorded.However, parties, such as law enforcement,could combine the event data recorder datawith the type of personally identifying dataroutinely acquired during a crashinvestigation.
To read data recorded by an event datarecorder, special equipment is required,and access to the vehicle or the event datarecorder is needed. In addition to thevehicle manufacturer, other parties, suchas law enforcement, that have such specialequipment, can read the information if theyhave access to the vehicle or the eventdata recorder.
BlueCruise Data (If Equipped)
If BlueCruise is active in certain crash ornear crash-like situations, such as anairbag deployment or hitting a roadobstacle, the system may record driverattentiveness, based on the direction ofeyes and duration, and photographs of thedriver seat area.
Note:No data is recorded under normaldriving conditions.
SETTINGS DATA
Your vehicle has electronic control unitsthat have the ability to store data basedon your personalized settings. The data isstored locally in the vehicle or on devicesthat you connect to it, for example, a USBdrive or digital music player. You can deletesome of this data and also choose whetherto share it through the services to whichyou subscribe. See Enabling andDisabling the Modem (page 621).
Comfort and Convenience Data
Data recorded includes, for example:
•Seat and steering wheel position.
•Climate control settings.
•Radio presets.
Entertainment Data
Data recorded includes, for example:
•Music, videos or album art.
•Contacts and corresponding addressbook entries.

The modem has a SIM. Themodem was enabled when yourvehicle was built and periodicallysends messages to stay connected to thecell phone network, receive automaticsoftware updates and send vehicle-relatedinformation to us, for example diagnosticinformation. These messages couldinclude information that identifies yourvehicle, the SIM and the electronic serialnumber of the modem. Cell phone networkservice providers could have access toadditional information, for example cellphone network tower identification. Note:The modem continues to send thisinformation unless you disable the modemor stop the modem from sharing vehicledata by changing the modem settings. SeeConnected Vehicle (page 621).

Children must always be properlyrestrained. Accident statistics suggest thatchildren are safer when properly restrainedin the rear seating positions than in thefront seating position. Failure to followthese instructions may increase the risk ofinjury in a crash.
If two adults and a child occupy a vehiclewithout rear seats, properly restrain thechild in the center front seat unless doingso would interfere with driving your vehicle.This provides lap and shoulder beltprotection for all occupants, and airbagprotection for the adults. A child or infantproperly restrained in the center front seatshould have a reduced risk to serious injuryfrom the airbags.
FRONT PASSENGER SENSING
SYSTEM
WHAT IS THE FRONT PASSENGERSENSING SYSTEM
This system detects a properly seatedoccupant and determines if the frontpassenger airbag should be enabled.
HOW DOES THE FRONTPASSENGER SENSING SYSTEMWORK
The system uses a passenger airbag statusindicator which illuminates indicating thatthe front passenger frontal airbag is eitherenabled or disabled.
Note:When you first switch the ignition on,the passenger airbag status indicator offand on lamps illuminate for a short periodto confirm they are functional.
The indicator lamps are in the overheadconsole.
The front passenger sensing system isdesigned to disable the front passengerfrontal airbag under these conditions:
•The front passenger seat isunoccupied.
•The system determines an infant ispresent in a child restraint.
•A passenger takes their weight off ofthe seat for a period of time.
•If there is a problem with the airbagsystem or the passenger sensingsystem.
Even with this technology, parents arestrongly encouraged to always properlyrestrain children in the rear seat.

•When the front passenger sensingsystem disables the front passengerfrontal airbag, the passenger airbagstatus indicator illuminates the offlamp.
•If you have installed the child restraintand the passenger airbag statusindicator illuminates the on lamp,switch your vehicle off, remove thechild restraint from your vehicle andreinstall the restraint following thechild restraint manufacturer'sinstructions.
The front passenger sensing system workswith sensors that are part of the frontpassenger seat and seatbelt. The sensorsare designed to detect the presence of aproperly seated occupant and determineif the front passenger frontal airbag shouldbe enabled.
•When the front passenger sensingsystem enables the front passengerfrontal airbag, the passenger airbagstatus indicator illuminates the onlamp.
If a person of adult size is sitting in the frontpassenger seat, but the passenger airbagstatus indicator off lamp is illuminated, itis possible that the person is not sittingproperly in the seat. If this happens:
•Switch your vehicle off and ask theperson to place the seat backrest in anupright position.
•Have the person sit upright in the seat,centered on the seat cushion, with theperson's legs comfortably extended.
•Restart your vehicle and have theperson remain in this position for abouttwo minutes. This allows the systemto detect that person and enable thepassenger frontal airbag.
•If the indicator off lamp remainsilluminated even after this, you shouldadvise the person to ride in the rearseat.
After all occupants have adjusted theirseats and put on seatbelts, it is veryimportant that they continue to sit upright,leaning against the seat backrest, andcentered on the seat cushion, with theirfeet comfortably extended on the floor.
Sitting improperly can increase the chanceof injury in a crash event. For example, ifan occupant slouches, lies down, turnssideways, sits forward, leans forward orsideways, or puts one or both feet up, thechance of injury during a crash greatlyincreases.
If you think that the state of the passengerairbag status indicator lamp is incorrect,check for the following:
•Objects lodged underneath the seat.
•Objects between the seat cushion andthe center console.
•Objects hanging off the seat backrest.
•Objects stowed in the seat backrestmap pocket.
•Objects placed on the occupant's lap.
•Cargo interference with the seat
•Other passengers pushing or pulling onthe seat.
•Rear passenger feet and knees restingor pushing on the seat.
The listed conditions could cause theweight of a properly seated occupant tobe incorrectly interpreted by the frontpassenger sensing system. The person inthe front passenger seat could appearheavier or lighter due to the conditionslisted.
Make sure the front passengersensing system is operatingproperly. See Crash Sensorsand Airbag Indicator (page 80).
If the airbag readiness light is on, do thefollowing:

•Pull your vehicle over.
•Switch your vehicle off.
•Check for any objects lodgedunderneath the front passenger seator cargo interfering with the seat.
•Remove the obstruction if found.
•Restart your vehicle.
•Wait at least two minutes and verifythat the airbag readiness light in theinstrument cluster is no longerilluminated.
•If the airbag readiness light in theinstrument cluster remains illuminated,there may be a problem due to thefront passenger sensing system.
Do not attempt to repair or service thesystem. Take your vehicle in for serviceimmediately.
If it is necessary to modify an advancedfront airbag system to accommodate aperson with disabilities, contact yourCustomer Relationship Center. SeeContacting Us (page 22).
FRONT PASSENGER SENSINGSYSTEM PRECAUTIONS
WARNING: Sitting improperly, outof position or with the seatback reclinedtoo far can take weight off the seatcushion and affect the decision of thepassenger sensing system, resulting inserious injury or death in the event of acrash. Always sit upright against yourseat back, with your feet on the floor.
WARNING: Any alteration ormodification to the front passenger seatmay affect the performance of the frontpassenger sensing system. This couldseriously increase the risk of injury ordeath.

When operating your vehicle with asnowplow:
•Do not exceed 45 mph (72 km/h).
•Your engine could run at a highertemperature than normal.
•If you are driving more than 15 mi(24 km) at temperatures abovefreezing, angle the plow bladeeither full left or full right to providemaximum airflow to the radiator.
•If you are driving less than 15 mi(24 km) at speeds up to 45 mph(72 km/h) in cold weather, you donot need to worry about bladeposition to provide maximumairflow.
•Shift to 4L when plowing in small areasat speeds below 5 mph (8 km/h).
•Shift to 4H when plowing larger areasor light snow at higher speeds above5 mph (8 km/h). Do not exceed15 mph (24 km/h).
•Do not shift the transmission from aforward gear to reverse (R) until theengine is at idle and the wheels havestopped.
Note:Careless or high-speed driving whensnowplowing, which results in significantvehicle decelerations, can deploy the airbag.Such driving also increases the risk ofaccidents.
Note:Drive your vehicle at least 500 mi(800 km) before using your vehicle forsnowplowing.
SNOWPLOW MODE
WHAT IS SNOWPLOW MODE
Snowplow mode reduces vehicle electricalload to allow the electrical system to havesufficient power to support residentialsnowplow use.
SWITCHING SNOWPLOW MODEON AND OFF
Vehicles receive a physical button in theinstrument panel or an option in the SYNCmenu to enable snowplow mode.
Snowplow mode does not remember thesetting when you switch your vehicle off.You must re-enable the mode every timeyou wish to use it.
The following features turn off and aredisabled in snowplow mode and cannotbe turned back on until snowplow modeis switched off:
•120 V inverter.
•Fog lamps.
•Heated and cooled front seats.
The body module also activates thesnowplow relay that provides power toaftermarket snowplow controls.
Note:The electrical system supports theaddition of a residential snowplow of up to60 A continuous, and snowplow lights ofup to 20 A continuous using snowplowmode. The system does not supportsnowplow usage with additional electricalaftermarket accessories.
Push Button (If Equipped)
Press the snowplow button on theinstrument panel to switch on snowplowmode. The snowplow button illuminatesand a message displays.
Press the snowplow button or switch offthe vehicle to switch off snowplow mode.
Using SYNC (If Equipped)
1.Press Features on the touchscreen.
2.Press Snow Plow Mode.
3.Switch Snow Plow Mode on or off.
