■When folding the rear seatbacks
down
●Do not fold the seatbacks down
while driving.
●Stop the vehicle on level ground,
set the parking brake and shift the
shift lever to P (Multidrive) or N (manual transmission).
●Do not allow anyone to sit on a folded seatback or in the luggage
compartment while driving.

●Do not allow children to enter the
luggage compartment.
●Be careful not to get your hand
caught when folding the rear
seatbacks.
●Adjust the position of the front seats
before folding down the rear
seatbacks so that th e front seats do not interfere with the rear seatbacks
when folding down the rear
seatbacks.
●Make sure that the rear seat is free
of passengers before operating the luggage room lever (if equipped).
■After returning the rear seatback to the upright position
●Make sure that the seatback is
securely locked in position by lightly pushing it back and forth.
If the seatback is not securely locked,
the red mark will be visible on the rear of the seatback lock release lever.
Make sure that the red mark is not
visible.
●Check that the seat belts are not twisted or caught in the seatback.
If the seat belt gets caught between
the seatback’s securing hook and latch, it may damage the seat belt.
NOTICE
■When using the luggage room
lever (if equipped)
Before folding a rear seat seatback, make sure that the seat is free of
obstructions. If the seatback is folded
while an object is on the rear seat, the rear seat may be damaged.
■When the partition net unit is installed to the folded down rear
seatbacks (vehicles with a parti-
tion net)
When returning the seatbacks,
remove the partition net unit then
return the rear seatbacks to their orig- inal position. ( P.448)

■When encountering flooded
roads
Do not drive on a road that has flooded after heavy rain etc. Doing so
may cause the following serious dam-
age to the vehicle:
●Engine stalling
●Short in electrical components
●Engine damage caused by water
immersion
In the event that you drive on a
flooded road and the vehicle becomes flooded or stuck in mud or
sand, be sure to have any authorized
Toyota retailer or Toyota authorized repairer, or any reliable repairer check
the following:
●Brake function
●Changes in the quantity and quality of the engine oil, transaxle fluid,
clutch fluid, differential oil, etc.
●Lubricant condition for the bearings
and suspension joints (where possi-
ble), and the function of all joints, bearings, etc.

Take notice of the following
information about storage pre-
cautions, cargo capacity and
load:

■Things that must not be carried
in the luggage compartment
The following things may cause a fire if loaded in the luggage compartment:
●Receptacles containing gasoline
●Aerosol cans
■Storage precautions
Observe the following precautions.
Failure to do so may prevent the ped- als from being depressed properly,
may block the driver’s vision, or may
result in items hitting the driver or passengers, possibly causing an acci-
dent.
●Stow cargo and luggage in the lug-
gage compartment whenever pos-
sible.
●Do not stack cargo and luggage in
the luggage compartment higher than the seatbacks.
●When you fold down the rear seats, long items should not be placed
directly behind the front seats.
●Do not place cargo or luggage in or
on the following locations.
• At the feet of the driver
• On the front passenger or rear
seats (when stacking items)
• On the luggage cover
• On the instrument panel
• On the dashboard

■Using the partition net
Front position
1 Fold the rear seatbacks down.
( P.142)
2 Install the partition net unit to the
anchors on the right seatback.
When the anchors are engaged,
slide the partition net unit left-
ward.
3 Open the anchor covers on both
sides.
4 Pull out the net, push in the left
and right hooks and engage
them to the anchors.
If the net is pulled out slowly, it may lock
partway. To pull it out fully, allow the net
to roll back slightly then pull it out again.
Rear position
1 Install the partition net unit
behind the rear seats to the
anchors on the side deck.
When the partition net unit is secured, the lock release buttons are pushed in
and the red marking on the button's
sidewall is not visible.
2 Open the anchor covers on both
sides.
