If a change in the speed limit of 20 km/h or more
is de tected and automatic adoption of speed lim-
its is activated, the new speed limit is automati-
cally adop ted as the stored speed (/ page 238). Driving and parking

Also, the speed is reduced if the turn signal indi-
cator is switched on and one of thefo llowing sit-
uations is de tected:
R Turning at junctions
R Driving on slowing-down lanes

The driver is responsible forch oosing theright
speed and observing other road users. This
applies in particular tojunctions, roundabouts and
tra1c lights, as route-based speed adap tation
does not brake theve hicle toa standstill.
If a cor responding route event is de tected while
ro ute guidance is active, the /r stspeed adjust-
ment is car ried out automaticall y.Ifth e turn signal
indicator is switched on, the selected route is
con/ rmed and fur ther speed adjustment is activa-

Speed adap tation is cancelled in thefo llowing

of wa yre gulations into account. The driver is
re sponsible for complying with road tra1c regula-
tions and driving at a suitable speed.
In di1cult conditions, the speed selection made
by the system may not alw ays be suitable. This

R varying maximum permissible speeds in indi-

ent for one lane, or the markings change

junctions.
R The lane markings are wornawa y,dark or co v-

short and thus the lane markings cannot be
de tected.
R The road is na rrow and winding. R
There are obs tacles on the lane or projecting
out into the lane, suchas object mar kers.

mir ror1 also lights up red, and the lane in which
th eve hicle is de tected is hatched out.
If a vehicle is de tected in thewa rning range and
yo u switch on the turn signal indicator in the cor-
re sponding direction, a double warning tone
sounds once, and thewa rning lamp 0ashes red in
th e cor responding outside mir ror.Re dra dar wav
es2 are displa yed next toyour vehicle in the
assis tance graphic.
If th e turn signal indicator remains on, the display
in the outside mirror 0ashes for all other de tected
ve hicles, but no fu rther warning tone sounds. If

Wa rnings may be issued in er ror when driving

Wa rnings may be inter rupted when driving along-
side long vehicles, forex ample lor ries, for a pro-

Blind Spot Assist and Active Blind Spot Assist are
not operational when reve rsege ar is engaged. Blind Sp
