If you operate information systems and com-
munication de
vices integrated in the vehicle
when driving, you could be distracted from the
traPc situation. This could also cause you to
lose control of the vehicle. 
Only operate this equipment when the
tr

aPc situation permits. 
If you cannot be sure of this, stop the
v
ehicle whilst paying attention to road
and traPc conditions and operate the
equipment with the vehicle stationary. For your own safety, always observe the following
points when oper
ating mobile communications
equipment and especially your voice control sys-
tem:
= Observe the legal requirements for the coun-
try in which you are driving.
= If you use the voice control system in an emer-
gency your voice can change and your tele-
phone call, e.g. an emergency call, can
thereby be unnecessarily delayed.
= Familiarise yourself with the voice control sys-
tem functions before starting the journey.
Using the MBUX voice assistant, vehicle functions
and v
arious areas of the MBUX multimedia system
can be operated by voice input. The MBUX voice
assistant is operational approximately half a
minute aser switching on the ignition and can be operated from all seats. Further information and
e

xamples of voice commands can be found in the
Digital Owner's Manual.
You can use the MBUX voice assistant to operate
the following functions depending on the vehicle
equipment:
= Telephone
= Text message and e-mail
= Navigation
= Radio and media
= Vehicle functions
= Online functions
Full functionality of the voice control system is
only available for you with activation of online
voice control. Conducting a dialogue
Starting a dialogue

Voice Assistant. Voice activation must be

A blue line appears in the MBUX multimedia
system. The dialogue can be started.
For the dialogue with the MBUX Voice Assistant,

ou can use complete sentences of colloquial lan-
guage as voice commands. Voice activation can
also be directly combined with a voice command,
e.g. "Hey Mercedes, how fast can I drive"" .
Calling up help

calling up a driver proNle
Selecting a user pr
oNle may trigger an adjust-
ment of the driver's seat to the position saved
under the user proNle. You or other vehicle
occupants could be injured in the process. 
Make sure that when the position of the
dr
iver's seat is being adjusted via the
multimedia system, no people or body
parts are in the seat's range of move-
ment.
If there is a risk of someone becoming trap-
ped, s
top the adjustment process immedi-
ately: 
a) Tap the warning message on the cen-
tr

al display.
or 
b) Press a memory function position but-
t

on or a seat adjustment switch on the
driver's door.
The adjustment process will be stopped. The driver's seat is equipped with an access pre-
v

enter.
If the driver's door is open, the driver's seat will
not be set aser calling up the driver's proNle. MBUX multimedia system

proNles and user-speciNc content
Prerequisites for the vehicle owner:
= You have a Mercedes me user account.
= You have a Mercedes me PIN.
= You have agreed to the terms of use.
= The vehicle is linked to a Mercedes me user
account.
% If one of the pre-requisites listed is missing or
if no user pr
oNle has been selected, the data
described in the following section will be
saved in the vehicle as the standard setting.
Standard settings can be changed by all vehi-
cle users.
User pr
oNles save personal settings. If the vehicle
is used by several people, a person can change
their proNle settings without changing the settings
of other users.
You can individualise a user proNle in the vehicle
using the set-up assistant or using the settings in
your user proNle. Some settings, e.g. the
Mercedes me PIN and a proNle photo are made in
the Mercedes me App or in the Mercedes me Por-
tal. User-speciNc
cont
ent and applications with per-
sonal data are protected by diMerent levels of
security. To access protected content, the
Mercedes me PIN and, depending on the vehicle
equipment, biometric sensors can be used.
% The security level is set by the multimedia sys-
t
em and calculated from the combination of
all sensor inputs. Some security levels cannot
be turned oM.
% When a user pr
oNle is activated, the following
personalised comfort systems, for example,
can be adjusted or their settings loaded:
= Seat
= Ambient light
= Outside mirrors
= Blinds
= Climate control settings
If the user proNle is activated when driving
then the driver's seat position will not be
adjusted. Depending on the vehicle equipment you can, as
a user
, save the following settings, for example:
= Driver's seat, steering wheel and mirror set-
tings
= Climate control
= Ambient lighting
= Radio (including station list)
= Suggestions and favourites
Suggestions
The vehicle can learn the habits of the driver. It
then makes suggestions regarding navigation des-
tinations, phone numbers and music preferences.
The requirements for that are the selection of a
user, your consent to the recording of data and
suPcient collected data.
Favourites
Favourites oMer you quick access to frequently
used applications. 100 favourites are available in

not yet installed on your mobile device, you
will be directed to the store of your mobile
device. 
Follow the directions in the app.

me user account. This automatically creates
your user proNle in the vehicle.
If only your user proNle is available, it will be
loaded automatically. If more than one user
pr
oNle is available, you
will be directed to the user selection.
When the vehicle is stationary, the set-up
assistant starts automatically aser user selec-
tion.

Protecting user
-speciNc content and applications
If you add a new user, access protection is
already activated for the user proNle. The
Mercedes me PIN and, depending on the vehicle
equipment, biometric sensors are available for
access. Biometric sensors must be taught in the
vehicle. The authentication process then takes all
taught-in and available sensors into account.
The following user-speciNc content and applica-
tions are protected, for example:
= User selection and user proNle settings
= Biometric sensors
The teaching-in of biometric sensors is protec-
ted.
= Suggestions
The data and determination of the most prob-
able navigation destinations, media sources,
radio stations, contacts and messages are
protected.

Teaching in, editing and deleting biometric data
The biome
tric data models are saved in the sen-
sors in the vehicle. If recognition has been taught-
in, this sensor serves as a contributory factor for
authentication on the multimedia system.

If the voice recognition was successful, a mes-
sage appears on the central display. You can
unlock your user proNle.

A sosware update consists of three steps:
= Downloading or copying of the data required
for installation
= Installation of the downloaded sosware
update
= Activation of the downloaded sosware update.

are updates are being down-
loaded, the multimedia system cannot be
operated and the vehicle functions may be
restricted.

are updates require a safe vehicle
status for the installation to be completed.
They can only be carried out in a safely
parked vehicle with the vehicle switched oM.

are updates requiring a safe vehicle sta-
tus: when the last installation step is reached, a
message appears on the central display aser the
vehicle is switched oM. Follow the step-by-step
instructions on the central display to complete the
installation. There are

installed when the vehicle is safely parked, there
are no more people in the vehicle and the vehicle
is locked.
Availability of the driver's and central display
During the installation of sosware updates, it is
not possible to use the vehicle, central display
and driver's display. You may receive the following
display message when an installation is running: %

In rare cases, an error can occur during the instal-
lation. The multimedia sy
stem automatically
attempts to restore the previous version. If it is not possible to restore the previous version,
t
he display message shown above appears every
time the vehicle is started.
Failure of the driver's display
If the driver's display fails or there is a malfunc-
tion, you may not recognise limitations in the
functions of systems relevant to safety or the
speed display, for example. The operating safety
of the vehicle may be impaired. Drive on carefully
and have the vehicle checked at a qualiNed spe-
cialist workshop immediately (  page 483).

Failure of the central display
If the central display fails or the display message
shown above is shown continuously, several sys-
tems such as the reversing camera, PARKTRONIC
or climate control are no longer available. Drive
on carefully and consult a specialist workshop as
soon as possible. 340

Setting up a Wi-Fi hotspot
Requirements

i-Fi function is activated on the multime-
dia system and the communication device to
be connected.
= The communication device to be connected
supports at least one of the types of connec-
tion described.
The connection types shown depend on the
device to be connected. The function must be
supported by the multimedia system and by
the device to be connected. The type of con-
nection established must be selected on the
multimedia system and on the device to be
connected.

on the communication device being connec-
ted. More detailed information can be found
in the manufacturer's operating instructions.

chase a data package directly from a
mobile phone network provider via the
Mercedes me Store. To be able to use the
data package, you conclude a separate con-
tract with a mobile phone network provider
via the Mercedes me Store, which can be ter-
minated at any time and for which there are
no costs. This contract is a prerequisite for using the services from the previously pur-
c
hased package. The availability of this option
is dependent on the country. If the data pack-
age option is not available or can be upgra-
ded, you can purchase data volume directly
from the mobile phone network provider for a
fee.
