The Park Assist Cameras (PAC 111
) use trajec-
tory lines and fields on the screen to indicate the vehicle's position in relation to its imme-diate surroundings.
Example of trajectory lines
The trajectory lines show the anticipated tra- jectory for the vehicle's outermost dimensions based on the current position of the steeringwheel and can help simplify parallel parking,backing into tight spaces or attaching a trailer. The lines on the screen are projected as if they were painted lines on the ground behind thevehicle and are directly affected by the way inwhich the steering wheel is turned. Thismakes it possible for the driver to see path thevehicle will take, even if he/she turns thesteering wheel. These lines also indicate the outermost limits that any object (towbar, rearview mirrors, cor-ners of the body, etc.) extends out from thevehicle.
NOTE

When reversing with a trailer that is not electrically connected to the vehi-cle, the screen guide lines show thepath the
vehicle will take – not the
trailer.
The screen does not show guide lineswhen a trailer is electrically connectedto the vehicle's electrical system.

TiresThe function of the tires is to carry loads, pro- vide traction on road surfaces, reduce vibra-tions and protect the wheels from wear.
The tires significantly influence the vehicle's driving characteristics. The type, dimensions,tire pressure and speed rating have a consid-erable impact on how the vehicle performs. Your vehicle is equipped with tires according to the vehicle's tire information placard on theB-pillar (the structural member at the side ofthe vehicle, at the rear of the driver's dooropening).
WARNING
A damaged tire could cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
CAUTION
Some Volvo models are equipped with an Ultra High Performance tire and wheelcombination designed to provide maxi-mum dry pavement performance with con-sideration for hydroplaning resistance.They may be more susceptible to road haz-ard damage and, depending on drivingconditions, may achieve a tread life of lessthan 30,000 km (20,000 miles). Even ifthis vehicle is equipped with Volvo'sadvanced AWD or stability system, thesetires are not designed for winter driving,and should be replaced with winter tireswhen weather conditions dictate.
The tires have good road holding characteris- tics and offer good handling on dry and wetsurfaces. It should be noted however that thetires have been developed to give these fea-tures on snow/ice-free surfaces. Most models are equipped with "all-season" tires, which provide a somewhat higherdegree of roadholding on slippery road surfa-ces than tires without the "all-season" rating.However, Volvo recommends using snow tireson all four wheels for good roadholding on icyor snow-covered roads. When replacing tires, be sure that the newtires are the same size designation, type(radial) and preferably from the same manu-facturer, on all four wheels. Otherwise there isa risk of altering the vehicle's roadholding andhandling characteristics.
Recommended tiresOn delivery, the car is equipped with Volvo original tires that have the VOL
1
marking on
the side of the tires. These tires have been designed specifically for your vehicle. It istherefore important when replacing tires thatthe new tires have this same marking to helpmaintain the vehicle's driving characteristics,comfort and fuel consumption.

Tire direction of rotation Tires with tread designed to roll in only one direction are marked with an arrow on thesidewall.
The arrow shows the tire's direction of rotation.
The tire should maintain the same direc- tion of rotation throughout its service life.
Tires should only be moved between thefront and back, never from right to left orvice versa.
Incorrectly mounted tires impair the vehi-cle's braking properties and ability to forceaside rain, snow and slush.
The tires with the most tread shouldalways be mounted on the rear wheels tohelp reduce the risk of skidding.
NOTE
Use tires of the same type, dimensions and make (manufacturer) on each axle.

Handling the spare wheel 15
Follow these instructions regarding handling the spare wheel.
Accessing the spare wheel
This illustration is generic and appearance may vary.
The spare tire is located in the spare wheel well under the cargo compartment with theoutside of the wheel facing downward. Thespare tire is secured with a bolt that goesthrough the tire and attaches it to the body.The foam block contains all tools needed tochange a wheel.
1. Lift the rear edge of the cargo compart- ment floor.
2. Unscrew the retaining bolt.
3. Lift out the spare wheel.
Stowing a flat tire1. Screw the spare tire's retaining bolt back on.
CAUTION
Do not attempt to unscrew the lower part of the retaining bolt if it is attached to thebody, as this could cause it to break. If the retaining bolt becomes dislodged from its lower attachment point in thebody under the spare tire, replace it in thehole and turn clockwise to secure it again.
WARNING
On vehicles with 48 V batteries, the bolt is attached to the battery box instead of thebody. If the lower part of the retaining boltis not dislodged when the spare tire istaken out, it should be removed to helpprevent injury when the flat tire is replaced.
2. Put the tools back in their correct posi- tions in the foam block.
3. Then lower the trunk/cargo compartment floor and place the punctured tire in the trunk/cargo compartment.

Snow tires
Snow tires are designed for winter driving conditions.
Volvo recommends snow tires with specific dimensions. The tire dimensions vary depend-ing on engine type. When driving with snowtires, the correct type of tires must be moun-ted on all four wheels.
Tips for changing snow tiresWhen switching between regular tires andsnow tires, mark the tires according to whichside they were mounted on, e.g. L for left and
R for right.
Contact a Volvo retailer for assistance deter-mining the most suitable rims and tires.
Studded tiresStudded tires should be broken in by driving500–1000 km (300–600 miles) slowly andgently to help the studs settle properly in thetires. This gives the tire, and especially thestuds, a longer service life.
NOTE
Legal requirements concerning the use of studded tires may vary. Always follow locallaws and regulations.
Tread depthRoad conditions with ice, slush and low tem- peratures place considerably higher demands on tires than summer conditions. Volvo there-fore recommends not driving on snow tiresthat have a tread depth of less than 4 mm(0.15 inch).

Snow chainsUsing snow chains and/or snow tires can help improve traction in winter driving condi-tions.
Volvo does not recommend use of snow chains on wheel dimensions larger than18 inches
WARNING
Use Volvo genuine snow chains or equiva- lent snow chains that are suitable for thevehicle model and the tire and wheel sizes.Only one-sided snow chains are permit-
ted. If uncertain about snow chains, Volvo rec- ommends contacting an authorized Volvoworkshop. Use of the wrong snow chainscould cause serious damage to the vehicleand result in an accident.
CAUTION
Snow chains can be used on the vehicle, with the following restrictions:
Always follow the manufacturer'sinstallation instructions carefully. Installchains as tightly as possible andretighten periodically.
Only put snow chains on the frontwheels (also applies to all-wheel drivevehicles).
If accessory, aftermarket or "custom"tires and wheels with different dimen-sions than the original tires and wheelsare used, snow chains in some casesmay NOT be used. Sufficient distancebetween the chains and brakes, sus-pension and body components mustbe maintained.
Check local regulations regarding theuse of snow chains before installing.
Never exceed the snow chain manu-facturer's specified maximum speedlimit. Under no circumstances shouldyou exceed 50 km/h (30 mph).
Avoid bumps, holes or sharp turnswhen driving with snow chains.
Avoid driving on surfaces withoutsnow as this wears out both the snowchains and the tires.
The handling of the vehicle can be adversely affected when driving withchains. Avoid fast or sharp turns aswell as locked wheel braking.
Some types of strap-on chains affectbrake components and therefore mustNOT be used.

WARNING
If the starter battery is disconnected, the function for automatic opening and closingmust be reset to function correctly. A resetis required in order for the pinch protectionto work.
CAUTION
On certain models, the battery is secured with a tensioning strap. Make sure that thetensioning strap is always securely tight-ened.
