Brake Hold
Turns the brake hold system on
The brake hold standby indicator
(green) comes on. While the sys-
tem is holding the brake, the brake
hold operated indicator (yellow)
comes on.
■Brake hold system operating conditions
The brake hold system cannot be turned on in the following cond itions:
● The driver’s door is not closed.
● The driver is not wearing the seat belt.
If any of the conditions above are detected when the brake hold system is
enabled, the system will turn off and the brake hold standby in dicator light will
go off. In addition, if any of the conditions are detected whil e the system is
holding the brake, a warning buzzer will sound and a message wi ll be shown
on the multi-information display. The parking brake will then b e set automati-
cally.
The brake hold system keeps the brake applied when the shift
lever is in a forward driving position or N with the system on and
the brake pedal has been depressed to stop the vehicle. The
system releases the brake when the accelerator pedal is
depressed with the shift lever in the forward driving position to
allow smooth start off.

Brake hold function
●If the brake pedal is left released for a period of about 3 min utes after the
system has started holding the brake, the parking brake will be set automat-
ically. In this case, a warning buzzer sounds and a message is shown on the
multi-information display.
● To turn the system off while the system is holding the brake, f irmly depress
the brake pedal and press the button again.
● The brake hold function may not hold the vehicle when the vehic le is on a
steep incline. In this situation, it may be necessary for the d river to apply the
brakes. A warning buzzer will sound and the multi-information d isplay will
inform the driver of this situation. If a warning message is sh own on the
multi-information display, read the message and follow the inst ructions.
■ When the parking brake is set aut omatically while the system is holding
the brakes
Perform any of the following operations to release the parking brake.
● Depress the accelerator pedal. (The parking brake will not be released auto-
matically if the seat belt is not fastened.)
● Operate the parking brake switch with the brake pedal depressed.
Make sure that the parking brake indicator light goes off. ( P. 196)
■ When an inspection at your Toyota dealer is necessary
When the brake hold standby indicator (green) does not illumina te even when
the brake hold switch is pressed with the brake hold system operating condi-
tions met, the system may be malfunctioning. Have the vehicle i nspected at
your Toyota dealer.
■ If “Brake Hold Fault. Depress Brake to Deactivate. Visit Your D ealer.” is
displayed on the multi-information display
The system may be malfunctioning. Have the vehicle inspected by your
Toyota dealer.
■ Warning messages and buzzers
Warning messages and buzzers are used to indicate a system malfunction or
to inform the driver of the need for caution. If a warning message is shown on
the multi-information display, read the message and follow the instructions.

Automatic High Beam
Push the lever away from you
with the headlight switch in the

The Automatic High Beam indica-
tor will come on when the head-
lights are turned on automatically
to indicate that the system is
active.
The Automatic High Beam uses an in-vehicle front camera to
assess the brightness of streetl ights, the lights of vehicles
ahead etc., and automatically turns the high beam on or off as
necessary.
WARNING
■ Limitations of the Automatic High Beam
Do not rely on the Automatic High Beam. Always drive safely, ta king care to
observe your surroundings and turning the high beam on or off m anually if
necessary.
■ To prevent incorrect operation o f the Automatic High Beam syste m

WARNING
■Caution regarding the use of washer fluid
When it is cold, do not use the washer fluid until the windshie ld becomes
warm. The fluid may freeze on the windshield and cause low visi bility. This
may lead to an accident, resulting in death or serious injury.
NOTICE
■ When the windshield is dry
Do not use the wipers, as they may damage the windshield.
■ When there is no washer flu id spray from the nozzle
Damage to the washer fluid pump may be caused if the lever is p ulled
toward you and held continually.
■ When a nozzle becomes blocked
In this case, contact your Toyota dealer.
Do not try to clear it with a pin or other object. The nozzle w ill be damaged.

After refueling, turn the fuel tank
cap until you hear a click. Once
the cap is released, it will turn
slightly in the opposite direction.

WARNING
■When replacing the fuel tank cap
Do not use anything but a genuine Toyota fuel tank cap designed for your
vehicle. Doing so may cause a fire or other incident which may result in
death or serious injury.

WARNING
●If the part of the windshield in front of the front camera is f ogged up or cov-
ered with condensation, or ice, use the windshield defogger to remove the
fog, condensation, or ice. ( P. 315)
● If water droplets cannot be properly removed from the area of t he wind-
shield in front of the front camera by the windshield wipers, replace the
wiper insert or wiper blade.
● Do not attach window tint to the windshield.
● Replace the windshield if it is damaged or cracked.
After replacing the windshield, the front camera must be recali brated. Con-
tact your Toyota dealer for details.
● Do not allow liquids to contact the front camera.
● Do not allow bright lights to shine into the front camera.
● Do not dirty or damage the front camera.
When cleaning the inside of the windshield, do not allow glass cleaner to
contact the lens of the front camera. Also, do not touch the lens.
If the lens is dirty or damaged, contact your Toyota dealer.
● Do not subject the front camera to a strong impact.
● Do not change the installation position or direction of the fro nt camera or
remove it.
● Do not disassemble the front camera.
● Do not modify any components of the vehicle around the front ca mera
(inside rear view mirror, etc.) or ceiling.
● Do not attach any accessories to the hood, front grille or fron t bumper that
may obstruct the front camera. Contact your Toyota dealer for d etails.
● If a surfboard or other long object is to be mounted on the roo f, make sure
that it will not obstruct the front camera.
● Do not modify the headlights or other lights.

If a warning message is displayed on the multi-information disp lay
A system may be temporarily unavailable or there may be a malfu nction in
the system.
● In the following situations, perform the actions specified in t he table. When
the normal operating conditions are detected, the message will disappear
and the system will become operational.
If the message does not disappear, contact your Toyota dealer.

the air conditioning system to decrease
the temperature around the front camera.
If a sunshade was used when the vehicle
was parked, depending on its type, the
sunlight reflected from the surface of the
sunshade may cause the temperature of
the front camera to become excessively
high.
If the front camera is cold, such after the
vehicle is parked in an extremely cold
environment, use the air conditioning sys-
tem to increase the temperature around
the front camera.
The area in front of the front
camera is obstructed, such as
when the hood is open or a
sticker is attached to the part of
the windshield in front of the
front camera.
Close the hood, remove the sticker, etc. to
clear the obstruction.
When “Pre-Collision System

Enabling/disabling th
e pre-collision system
The pre-collision system can be enabled/disabled on (P. 5 0 7 )
of the multi-information display.
The system is automatically enabled each time the engine switch is
turned to the “ON” position (vehicles without a smart key syste m) or
turned to IGNITION ON mode (vehicles with a smart key system).
If the system is disabled, the
PCS warning light will turn on
and a message will be dis-
played on the multi-information
display.
WARNING
● When the tires are very worn
● When tires of a size other than specified are installed
● When tire chains are installed
● When a compact spare tire or an emergency tire puncture repair kit is used
● If equipment (snow plow, etc.) that may obstruct the radar sens or or front
camera is temporarily installed to the vehicle
