Depending on whe ther the settings forth e driv‐
er ’s or front passenger seat are selected, only
th e selected seat can be reset. Fo
lding the front seat backrest forw ards/
back (vehicles with memo ryfunction) If
yo ufo ld the seat backrest forw ards, the seat
will mo veforw ards with the EASY -ENTRY func‐
tion. This allo wspassengers toget into and out
of there ar passenger compartment com fortabl y. #
Tofold forw ard: pull seat release handle 1
and fold the seat backrest forw ards as far as
it will go.
The seat will auto maticallymo vetothefo re‐
most position. #
Tofold back: swingthe seat backrest back
horizon tally.
If th e seat backrest is not engaged, this will
be shown on the multifunction display on the instrument clus
ter.A wa rning tone will also
sound.
The seat will au tomatical lymo vetothe

push it down. #
Pull seat release handle 1and fold the seat
backrest forw ards until the seat backrest
engages. #
Push the seat as farfo rw ards as it will go. Fo
lding back #
Push the seat back horizon tally by the seat
backrest until it reaches the seat position
th at wa s pr eviously set. #
Foldthe seat backrest back until it engages.
Do so as smoo thly as possible.
If th e seat backrest is not engaged, this will
be shown on the multifunction display on the
instrument clus ter.A wa rning tone will also
sound. #
Afterth e seat backrest has been folded
bac k,check the position of the head restra int
and set it tothe cor rect position.
If th e set seat position can no longer be reached,
e.g. because of luggage in there ar foot we ll or
because occupants ha veentered there ar of the
ve hicle: #
Pull seat release handle 1again and return
th e seat backrest toan upright position.
The seat will lock in the new fore -and-aft

WARNING Risk of bu rns due torepeat‐
edly switching on the seat heating
Re peatedly switching on the seat heating can
cause the seat cushion and seat backrest
padding tobecome very hot.
In particular, the health of persons with limi‐
te dte mp erature sensitivity or a limited ability
to react tohigh temp eratures may be af fec‐
te d or they may even suf fer burn-like injuries. #
Do not repeatedly switch on the seat
heating. To
protect against overheating, the seat heating
may be temp orarily deactivated af ter it is
switched on repeatedly.

ments are on the seats when the seat
heater is switched on. Re
quirements:
R The po wer supply is switched on. #
Press button 1repeatedly until the desired
heating le vel is set.
Depending on the heating le vel, up tothree
indicator lamps will light up. If all indicator
lamps are off, the seat heating is switched
off.
% The seat heating will automatically switch
down from theth re e heating le vels af ter 8,
10 and 20 minutes until the seat heating is
switched off. Switching

R The po wer supply is switched on. #
Press button 1repeatedly until the desired
blo wer setting has been reached.
Depending on the blo wer setting, up tothree
indicator lamps will light up. If all indicator
lamps are off, the seat ventilation is switched

Switching AIRSCARF on/off
&
WARNING Risk of bu rns caused bythe
heating output from AIRSCARF being too
high
When AIRSCARF is switched on, very hot air
can flow from the outlet opening in the head
re stra ints.
This could result in burns in the immediate
vicinity of the outlet opening. #
Turn the heating output down in good
time. #
Maintain a suitable dis tance from the
outlet opening. Re
quirements:
R the po wer supp lyis switched on AIRSCARF
warmsth e head and neck area of
ve hicle occupants with warm air. The warm air
fl ow s out of theve nts in the head restra ints. #
Toswitch on: press button 1.
All indicator lamps are on.
% During the switch-on process, the blo wer
st arts up on lyafte r a preheating phase last‐
ing se ven seconds. #
Toreduce the le vel:press button 1
re peatedly until the desired heating le vel is
set.
Depending on the heating le vel, up tothree
indicator lamps light up. #
Toswitch off: press button 1repeatedly
until all the indicator lamps go out.
% After switching off, the blo werru ns on for a
fe w seconds tocool down the heating ele‐
ments.
% Ifth eve hicle battery voltage is too lo w,AIR‐
SCARF may switch off. #

Yo u could lose cont rol of theve hicle in par‐
ticular in thefo llowing situations:
R Ifyo u adjust the driver's seat, the head
re stra ints, thesteering wheel or the mir‐
ro r while theve hicle is in motion.
R Ifyo ufast enyour seat belt while theve hi‐
cle is in motion. #
Before starting the engine: adjust the
driver's seat, head restra ints, steering
wheel and mir ror in particular and fas‐
te nyo ur seat belt. &
WARNING Risk of entrapment forch il‐
dren when adjusting thesteering wheel
Children could injure themselves if they
adjust thesteering wheel. #
Never lea vechildren unat tended in the
ve hicle. #
When leaving theve hicle, alw aysta ke
th eke y with you and lock theve hicle. #
Tounlo ck:push release le ver1 down as
fa r as it will go. #
Adjust height 2and di stance 3tothe
st eering wheel. #
Tolock: pushrelease le ver1 up as far as it
will go. #
Check and make sure that thesteering col‐
umn is loc kedby moving thesteering wheel. Ad

va te the easy entry ‑ andexitfeature, particu‐
lar lywhen unat tended. #

When leaving theve hicle, alw aysta ke
th eke y with you and lock theve hicle. If
th e easy entry andexitfeature is active, the
st eering wheel will mo veupwards and the driv‐
er's seat will mo veback in thefo llowing situa‐
tions:
R you swit chthe ignition off with the driver's
door open
R you open the driver's door with the ignition
switched off
% The steering wheel will then mo veupwards
on ly if it is not already as high as it will go.
The driver's seat will then mo vebackwards only if it is not already at
there ar of the seat
adjustment range.
The steering wheel and the driver's seat will
mo veback tothe last drive position in thefo l‐
lowing cases:
R you swit chthe po wer supp lyor the ignition
on when the driver's door is closed
R you close the driver's door with the ignition
switched on
The last drive position will be sa ved when:
R you swit chthe ignition off.
R you sa vethe seat settings via the memory
function.
If yo u press one of the memory function memory
position switches, the adjustment process will
be stopped. 108

memory function is used while driving
If yo u use the memory function on the driv‐
er's side while driving, you could lose cont rol
of theve hicle as a result of the adjustments
being made. #
Only use the memory function on the
driver's side when theve hicle is station‐
ar y. &
WARNING Risk of entrapment when
adjusting the seat with the memory func‐
tion
When the memory function adjusts the seat
or steering wheel, you and other vehicle
occupants – particularly children – could
become trapped. #
During the adjusting process of the
memory function, ensure that no body
parts are in the sweep of the seat or
th esteering wheel. #
If somebody becomes trapped, immedi‐
ately release the memory function posi‐
tion button.
The adjustment process is stopped. &
WARNING Risk of entrapment if the
memory function is activated bychildren
Children could become trapped if they acti‐
va te the memory function, particularly when
unattended. #
