Pull the front door inner handle.
u The door unlocks and opens in one
motion.
Unlocking and opening the driver’s door from the inner handle unlocks all the other
doors.
To avoid all the doors to be unlocked, use the lock tab on the driver’s door to unlock,
then lock again before opening the door. u This setting works for one time only.
If you do not want all the doors to be unlocked all the time, customize the
Auto Door Unlock setting to Off using the audio/in formation screen.

The front door inne r handles are designed to allow
front seat occupants to ope n the door in one motion.
However, this feature requires that front seat
occupants never pull a front door inner handle while
the vehicle is in motion.

to lock or unlock all the doors.
Childproof Door Locks
The childproof door locks prevent the rear doors from being opened from the inside
regardless of the position of the lock tab.
Slide the lever in the rear door to the lock
position, and close the door.

Open the door using the outside door handle.

When you lock/unlock either of the front doors using
the master door lock switch , all the other doors lock/
unlock at the same time.

Your vehicle locks or unlocks all doors auto matically when a certain condition is met.
■Drive lock mode
All doors lock when the vehicle’s speed reaches about 10 mph (15 km/h).

All doors unlock when the driver’s door is opened.

Precautions for Opening/Closing the Tailgate
Always make sure individuals and objects are clear of the tailgate before opening or
closing it.
• Support the tailgate with your hands until it has completely opened.
• Be careful when it is windy. The wind may ca use the tailgate to close when it is in
the swing open position.
• Unless absolutely necessary, clos e the tailgate before driving.1Precautions for Opening/Closing the Tailgate
Be careful not to put your hands between the tailgate
and the cargo area when closing the tailgate.
When you are storing or picking up luggage from the
cargo area while the engine is idling, do not stand in
front of the exhaust pipe. You may get burned.

Anyone caught in the path of a tailgate
that is being opened or closed can be
seriously injured.
Make sure that all people are clear of the
tailgate before opening or closing it.

Allowing passengers to ride in the pickup
bed or on the tailgate can result in death or

As a safety feature, the upper handle is disabled if
you do not fully close the ta ilgate after it is swung
open. Likewise, the lower ha ndle is disabled if you do
not fully close the tailgate after it is dropped open.
The tailgate lock/unlock func tion is set to disable as
the factory default setting. The tailgate lock/unlock
function can be set to enable using the audio/

Open the trunk all the way. u If it is not fully opened, the trunk lid may begin to close under its own weight.
■Closing the trunk
Keep the trunk lid closed while driving to:
u Avoid possible damage.
Using the key
If the smart entry remote battery or the ve hicle battery is dead, use the key instead
of the smart entry remote. 1.Swing open the tailgate.
2. Fully insert the key and turn it.

Using the Trunk Release Button
Push up the trunk release button on the trunk
lid after all the doors are unlocked.
Even if the trunk is locked, you can open the
trunk if you carry the smart entry remote. u The beeper will sound.
Trunk Main Switch
The trunk main switch disables the trunk
release button on the trunk lid to protect
luggage in the trunk.
1.Turn off the trunk main switch in the glove
box.
2. Lock the glove box.
1Using the Trunk Release Button
•If you forget the smart entry remote inside, the
beeper will sound and th e trunk will not close.
•A person who is not carrying the smart entry
remote can unlock the trunk if a person who is
carrying it is within range.
•If the beeper sounds after you close the trunk,
move the smart entry remote away from the trunk
and close again.
•The smart entry remote may not operate if it is too
close to the trunk.

If you need to give the ke y to someone else, remove
the built-in key from the smart entry remote by
sliding the release knob, and give the remote as a
valet key.
The trunk main switch will also disable the tailgate
lock/unlock function when its setting is enable.
