■ When using the microphone
●It is unnecessary to speak directly into the microphone when gi ving a com-
mand.
● When “Voice Prompt Interrupt” set to on, it is not necessary to wait for the
confirmation beep before speaking a command. ( P. 293)
● Voice commands may not be recognized if:
• Spoken too quickly.
• Spoken at a low or high volume.
• The roof or windows are open.
• Passengers are talking while voice commands are spoken.
• The air conditioning speed is set high.
• The air conditioning vents are turned towards the microphone.
● In the following conditions, the system may not recognize the command
properly and using voice commands may not be possible:
• The command is incorrect or unclear. Note that certain words, accents or
speech patterns may be difficult for the system to recognize.
• There is excessive background noise, such as wind noise.
Due to natural language speech recognition technology, this sys tem
enables recognition of a command when spoken naturally. However ,
the system cannot recognize ever y variation of each command.
In some situations, it is possi ble to omit the command for the proce-
dure and directly state the desired operation.
Not all voice commands are displayed in the short cut menu.
This function is available in English, Spanish and French.

The Mobile Assistant feature will activate Apple’s Siri® Eyes Free
mode via the steering wheel switches. To operate the Mobile Ass is-
tant, a compatible cellular phone must be registered and connec ted to
this system via Bluetooth
®. (  P. 3 1 7 )

The Mobile Assistant can be
used only when the following
screen is displayed.
To cancel the Mobile Assistant,
select “Cancel”, or press and hold
the on the steering wheel.
To restart the Mobile Assistant for
additional commands, press the on the steering wheel.
• Mobile Assistant can only be restarted after the system responds to a voice command.
• After some phone and music commands, the Mobile Assistant feat ure will
automatically end to complete the requested action.

Adjusting the Mobile Assistant volume
The volume of the Mobile Assistant can be adjusted using the
“PWR/VOL” knob or steering wheel volume switches. The Mobile
Assistant and phone call vo lumes are synchronized.

■ Notes about Mobile Assistant
●The available features and functions may vary based on the iOS version
installed on the connected device.
● Some Siri features are limited in Eyes Free mode. If you attempt to use an
unavailable function, Siri will inform you that the function is not available.
● If Siri is not enabled on the cellular phone connected via Bluetooth
®, an
error message will be displayed on the screen.
● While a phone call is active, the Mobile Assistant cannot be us ed.
● If using the navigation feature of the cellular phone, ensure t he active audio
source is Bluetooth
® audio or iPod in order to hear turn by turn direction
prompts.

To prevent the hybrid battery (traction battery) air intake vent from
becoming clogged, cl ean it periodically.
■Cleaning the air intake vent
Remove any dust and clogs
from the air intake vent with a
vacuum cleaner, etc.
The air intake vent has a filter
behind the air intake vent cover.
If “MAINTENANCE REQUIRED FOR TRACTION BATTERY
COOLING PARTS SEE OWNER’S MANUAL” is displayed on the
multi-information display, the filter may be clogged. Remove th e air
intake vent cover and clean the filter.

Start the hybrid system and check that “MAINTENANCE
REQUIRED FOR TRACTION BATTERY COOLING PARTS SEE
OWNER’S MANUAL” is no longer displayed on the multi-infor-
mation display.
It may take approximately 20 minu tes for the warning message to
disappear after the hybrid syste m is started. If the warning mes-
sage does not disappear even th ough the filter has been cleaned,
have the vehicle inspect ed by your Toyota dealer.
■Caring for leather areas
Toyota recommends cleaning the interior of the vehicle at least twice a year to
maintain the quality of the vehicle's interior.
■ Shampooing the carpets
There are several commercial foaming-type cleaners available. U se a sponge
or brush to apply the foam. Rub in overlapping circles. Do not use water.
Wipe dirty surfaces and let them dry. Excellent results are obt ained by keep-
ing the carpet as dry as possible.
■ Air intake vent maintenance
●If the vehicle is driven with the air intake vent clogged, the hybrid battery
(traction battery) may overheat and the fuel consumption may in crease.
● Depending on the conditions under which the vehicle is used, th e air intake
vent may need to be cleaned more regularly.
■ Seat belts
Clean with mild soap and lukewarm water using a cloth or sponge . Also
check the belts periodically for excessive wear, fraying or cut s.
■ Cleaning the air intake vent filter
●Improper handling of the air intake vent cover and filter may result in dam-
age to them. If you have any concerns about cleaning the filter , contact your
Toyota dealer.
● If the vehicle is driven with the air intake vent filter clogged, the hybrid bat-
tery (traction battery) may overheat and the fuel consumption m ay increase.
● Depending on the conditions under which the vehicle is used, th e air intake
vent filter may need to be cleaned more regularly.

● It is possible the air intake vent or filter is clogged due to accumulated dust.
Clean the air intake vent and filter, referring to the cleaning method.
● When continuously driven in this state, the hybrid battery (traction battery)
may overheat, which may lead to the driving distance by the ele ctric motor
getting shorter, the fuel consumption worsening, and causing da mage.
Clean the air intake vent periodically to prevent dust, etc., f rom collecting in
the air intake vent or filter.
● If the massage in the multi-information display does not turn off, even if the
air intake vent is cleaned, have the vehicle inspected at your Toyota dealer.
WARNING
■Water in the vehicle
● Do not splash or spill liquid in the vehicle, such as on the floor, in the
hybrid battery (traction battery) air vents, and in the luggage compartment.
Doing so may cause the hybrid battery, electrical components, etc. to mal-
function or catch fire.
● Do not get any of the SRS components or wiring in the vehicle i nterior wet.

An electrical malfunction may cause the airbags to deploy or no t function
properly, resulting in death or serious injury.
■ Cleaning the interior (esp ecially instrument panel)
Do not use polish wax or polish cleaner. The instrument panel m ay reflect
off the windshield, obstructing the driver's view and leading t o an accident,
resulting in death or serious injury.
■ When cleaning the hybrid batte ry (traction battery) air intake vent/filter
● Do not use water or other liquids to clean the air intake vent/ filter. If water
is applied to the hybrid battery (traction battery) or other co mponents, a
malfunction or fire may occur.
● When the air intake vent cover, located below the rear seat cus hion on the
left side is to be removed, make sure to turn the power switch off to stop
the hybrid system.
