vehicle is low on fuel.
The vehicle cannot be remote
started if:
.
The transmitter is in the vehicle.
.
The hood is not closed.
.
There is an emission control
system malfunction and the
malfunction indicator lamp is on.
.
The ignition is not off.
.
The vehicle is not in P (Park).
.
The hazard warning flashers
are on.
.
Two remote starts or a single
remote start with an extension
have already been used.
The engine will turn off during a
remote vehicle start if:
.
The coolant temperature gets
too high.
.
The oil pressure gets low.
The RKE transmitter range may be
reduced while the vehicle is running. Other conditions can affect the
performance of the transmitter. See
Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)
System 0 8 or
Vehicle Personalization 0 133 .
Starting the Engine Using Remote
Start
1. Press and release
Q .
2. Immediately press and hold
/until the turn signal lamps flash
or for at least four seconds.
When the vehicle starts, the
parking lamps will turn on. The
doors will be locked and the
climate control system may
come on.
The engine will continue to run
for 15 minutes. After
30 seconds, repeat
Steps 1 and 2 if a 15-minute
time extension is desired.
Turn the ignition on to operate the
vehicle. Extending Engine Run Time
The engine run time can be
extended by 15 minutes, for a total
of 30 minutes, if during the first
15 minutes Steps 1 and 2 are
repeated while the engine is still
running. An extension can be
requested, 30 seconds after
starting.
A maximum of two remote starts,
or a single start with an extension,
is allowed between ignition cycles.
The ignition must be turned on and
then back off to use remote start
again.
Canceling a Remote Start
To cancel a remote start, do one of
the following:

Press and hold
/ until the
parking lamps turn off.
.
Turn on the hazard warning
flashers.
.
Turn the ignition on and then off.

2. Remove the glove box
rear wall.
3. Disconnect the glove box door
damper string from the glove
box door assembly. A pen or
pencil may be inserted through
the end of the damper string to
prevent the string from slipping
inside the housing assembly.
4. Squeeze both sides of the
glove box bin inward to lower
beyond the stops. 5. Release the latches on either
side of the service door. Open
the service door and remove
the old filter.
6. Install the new air filter.
7. Close the service door
completely.
8. Reverse the steps to reinstall
the glove box.
See your dealer if additional
assistance is needed. Service All vehicles have a label underhood
that identifies the refrigerant used in
the vehicle. The refrigerant system
should only be serviced by trained
and certified technicians. The air
conditioning evaporator should
never be repaired or replaced by
one from a salvage vehicle.
It should only be replaced by a new
evaporator to ensure proper and
safe operation.
During service, all refrigerants
should be reclaimed with proper
equipment. Venting refrigerants
directly to the atmosphere is harmful
to the environment and may also
create unsafe conditions based on
inhalation, combustion, frostbite,
or other health-based concerns.
The air conditioning system requires
periodic maintenance. See
Maintenance Schedule 0 311 .

Always shift to P (Park), and then
turn the ignition off before exiting
the vehicle.
Auto Engine Stop/Start
When the brakes are applied and
the vehicle is at a complete stop,
the engine may turn off. When
stopped, the tachometer displays
AUTO STOP. See Tachometer
0 108 . When the brake pedal is
released or the accelerator pedal is
pressed, the engine will restart.
To maintain vehicle performance,
other conditions may cause the
engine to automatically restart
before the brake pedal is released.
Auto Stops may not occur and/or
auto restarts may occur because:
.
The climate control settings
require the engine to be running
to cool or heat the vehicle
interior. .
The vehicle battery charge
is low.
.
The vehicle battery has recently
been disconnected.
.
Minimum vehicle speed has not
been reached since the last
Auto Stop.
.
The accelerator pedal is
pressed.
.
The engine or transmission is
not at the required operating
temperature.
.
The outside temperature is not
in the required operating range.
.
The vehicle is in any gear other
than D (Drive).
.
Tow/Haul Mode or other driver
modes have been selected.
.
The vehicle is on a steep hill or
grade.
.
The driver door has been
opened or driver seat belt has
been unbuckled.
.
The hood has been opened. .
The Auto Stop has reached the
maximum allowed time.
Auto Stop Disable Switch
The automatic engine Stop/Start
feature can be disabled and
enabled by pressing the switch with
the
h symbol. Auto Stop is
enabled each time you start the
vehicle.
When
h is illuminated, the system
is enabled.

start, open the hood before
performing any service work to
prevent remote starting the vehicle
accidentally. See Remote Vehicle
Start 0 14 .
Keep a record with all parts receipts
and list the mileage and the date of
any service work performed. See
Maintenance Records 0 322 .
CautionEven small amounts of
contamination can cause damage
to vehicle systems. Do not allow
contaminants to contact the fluids,
reservoir caps, or dipsticks.
Hood
{ Warning
Turn the vehicle off before
opening the hood. If the vehicle is
on, the engine will start when the
hood is opened. You or others
could be injured. { WarningComponents under the hood can
get hot from running the engine.
To help avoid the risk of burning
unprotected skin, never touch
these components until they have
cooled, and always use a glove or
towel to avoid direct skin contact.
Clear any snow from the hood
before opening.
To open the hood:
1. Pull the hood release lever with
the
i symbol. It is on the
lower left side of the instrument
panel. 2. Go to the front of the vehicle
and locate the secondary
release lever under the front
center of the hood. Push the
secondary hood release lever
to the right to release.
3. After you have partially lifted
the hood, the gas strut system
will automatically lift the hood
and hold it in the fully open
position.
To close the hood:
1. Before closing the hood, be
sure all filler caps are on
properly, and all tools are
removed.

5. Push the release lever (2) to
disengage the hook and push
the wiper arm (1) out of the
blade assembly (3).
6. Push the new blade assembly
securely on the wiper arm until
the release lever clicks into
place.
7. To reinstall the cover, ensure
that the cover hook slides into
the slot in the blade assembly.
8. Snap the cover down to
secure. Windshield Replacement HUD System The windshield is part of the HUD
system. If the windshield needs to
be replaced, be sure to get one that
is designed for HUD or the HUD
image may look out of focus.
Driver Assistance Systems If the windshield needs to be
replaced and the vehicle is
equipped with a front camera sensor
for the Driver Assistance Systems, a
GM replacement windshield is
recommended. The replacement
windshield must be installed
according to GM specifications for
proper alignment. If it is not, these
systems may not work properly, they
may display messages, or they may
not work at all. See your dealer for
proper windshield replacement.
Acoustic Windshield
The vehicle is equipped with an
acoustic windshield. If the
windshield needs to be replaced be
sure to get an acoustic windshield so you will continue to have the
benefits an acoustic windshield can
provide.
Gas Strut(s) This vehicle is equipped with gas
strut(s) to provide assistance in
lifting and holding open the hood/
trunk/liftgate system in full open
position.
{ WarningIf the gas struts that hold open
the hood, trunk, and/or liftgate fail,
you or others could be seriously
injured. Take the vehicle to your
dealer for service immediately.
Visually inspect the gas struts for
signs of wear, cracks, or other
damage periodically. Check to
make sure the hood/trunk/liftgate
is held open with enough force.
If struts are failing to hold the
hood/trunk/liftgate, do not
operate. Have the vehicle
serviced.

grade. ACDelco dexos1 full synthetic is recommended. See Engine Oil

Hood Latch Assembly, Secondary
Latch, Pivots, Spring Anchor, and
Release Pawl Lubriplate Lubricant Aerosol (GM Part No. 89021668, in
Canada 89021674) or lubricant meeting requirements of NLGI #2,
Category LB or GC-LB.
Hydraulic Brake System DOT 4 Hydraulic Brake Fluid (GM Part No. 19299570, in
Canada 19299571).
Key Lock Cylinders, Hood and Door
Hinges Multi-Purpose Lubricant, Superlube (GM Part No. 12346241, in
Canada 10953474).
Weatherstrip Conditioning Weatherstrip lubricant (GM Part No. 3634770, in Canada 10953518) or
equivalent.
Windshield Washer Automotive windshield washer fluid that meets regional freeze protection
requirements.
