BMW
maintenance
system
The
maintenance
system
provides
service
notifi#j
cations
and
thereby
provides
support
in
main#j
taining
road
safety
and
the
operational
reliability of
the
vehicle.
In
some
cases,
scopes
and
intervals
of
the
main#j
tenance
system
may
vary
according
to
the
coun#j
try
version.
Replacement
work,
spare
parts,
fuels
and
lubricants,
and
wear
materials
are
calculated
separately.
Further
information

from
a
dealer's
service
center
or
another
qualified
serv#j
ice
center
or
repair
shop.
Condition
Based
ServiceCBS
Concept
Sensors
and
special
algorithms
take
into
account
the
driving
conditions
of
the
vehicle.
CBS
uses
these
to
calculate
the
need
for
maintenance.
The
system
makes
it
possible
to
adapt
theamount
of
maintenance
corresponding
to
your
user
profile.

data
in
the
vehicle
key Information
on

service

The
service center

read
this
data
out

suggest
amaintenance
scope
for
the
vehicle.
Therefore,
hand
the
service
advisor
the
vehicle
key
with
which
the
vehicle
was
driven
most
re#j cently.
Storage
periods
Storage
periods
during
which
the
vehicle
battery was
disconnected
are
not
taken
into
account.
If
this
occurs,
have
a
dealer's
service
center
or
another
qualified
service
center
or
repair
shop update
the
time-dependent
maintenance
proce#jdures,
such
as
checking
brake
fluid
and,
if
neces#j
sary,
changing
the
engine
oil
and
the
microfilter/ activated-charcoal
filter.

Position
There
is
an
OBD
socket
on
the
driver's
side
for checking
the
primary
components
in
the
vehi#j
cle's
emissions.
Emissions

warning
light
lights
up:
Emissions
are
deteriorating.
Have
the vehicle
checked
as
soon
as
possible.'xThe
warning
light
flashes
under
certain
cir#j
cumstances:
This
indicates
that
there
is
excessive
misfiring in
the
engine.
Reduce
the
vehicle
speed
and
have
the
sys#j
tem
checked
immediately;
otherwise,
serious
engine
misfiring
within
a
brief
period
can

ously
damage
emission
control

particular
the
catalytic

Wiper
blades
Safety

window

sustain
damage

the
wiper falls
onto
it
without
the
wiper
blade
installed. There
is
a

of
damage
to

Hold
thewiper
firmly
when
changing
the
wiper
blade.
Do
not
fold
or
switch
on
the
wiper
without
a
wiperblade
installed.
NOTICE
Folded-away
wipers
can
be
jammed
when
the hood
is
opened.
There

Make
sure
that

wipers

folded

after

short

glass
does
not
need
to
be
changed.
If
despite
driving
with
the
headlights
switched
on,
increasing
humidity
forms,
for
instance
water
droplets
in
the
light,

headlights
checked.

Charging
the
battery General
informationMake
sure
that
the
battery
is
always
sufficiently
charged
to
guarantee
that
the
battery
remains
usable
for
its
full
service
life.
A
discharged
battery
is
indicated
by
a
red
indicator
light.
Charge
the
battery
in
the
following
situations:
'xWhen
the
inspection
glass
on
the
top
of
the
battery
is
black.'xWhen
the
take-off
performance
is
insufficient.
The
following
circumstances
can
have
a
negative
effect
on
the
performance
of
the
battery:
'xFrequent
short-distance

not

for
more
than
a

Battery
chargers

work

high
voltages
