 Check the battery. At the same time, check the terminals and wiring. Duringextremely cold weather, the battery will not be as strong. Also, the battery power level may drop beca

used for cold starting and driving.
Before driving the vehicle, check to see if the engine runs at the proper speed and ifthe headlights are as bright as normally. Charge or replace the battery if necessary. During extreme cold weather, it is possi-ble that a very low battery could freeze. Warm the engine sufficiently. After start- ing the engine, allow a short warm-up time to distribute oil to all cylinders. Then drive your vehicle slowly.Stay at low speeds at first so that the transaxle, transfer case and rear axle oil have time to spread to all lubricationpoints.  Check the engine antifreeze. If there is not enough coolant because of aleak or from engine
overheating, add Mit-

vehicles and to the
condition of the road surface. From time to time, lightly depress the brake pedal andcheck how effective the brakes are. It is important to take
advantage of the engine
braking by downshifting while driving on steep downhill roads in order to prevent thebrakes from overheating.

the curb on an uphill.

move the selector lever out of the “P” (PARK) position. Never leave the engine running while you take a short nap or rest. Also, never leave the engine running in a closed or poorly venti- lated place. Your front bumper can be damaged if you scrape it over curbs or parking stop blocks.Be careful when traveling up or down steep slopes where your bumper can scrape the road.

and local regulations.
Check with your loca
l recreational vehicle
dealer for the requirements in your area, and use only equipment designed for your vehi- cle. Since lighting and wiring
vary by trailer type
and brand, you should have a qualified tech- nician install a suitable connector between thevehicle and the trailer.

special outside mirrors when towing a trailer. Even if not required,
you should install spe-

your towing situation.
Towing a trailer requires a certain amount of experience. Before setting out for the open road, you’ll want to get to know your trailer. Acquaint
yourself with the feel of handling and braking with the added weight of the trailer. Alwayskeep in mind that the vehicle you are driving is now a good deal longer and not nearly as responsive as your vehicl
e is without a trailer.
Before you start, check the trailer hitch, safety chains, tires
and mirror adjustment.

res are inflated to the
cold inflation pressure listed in the manual. You’ll find these numbe
rs on the tire and

9-20. Stay at least twice as far behind the vehicle ahead as you would when driving your vehi- cle without a trailer.

the windshield and side windows clear and to quickly remove fog or frost from the wind-shield. 1. Park the vehicle in the shade whenever possible. Parking in the hot sun makes the vehicle interior extremely hot which thenrequires more time to cool. If it is neces- sary to park in the sun, open the windows for the first few minutes of air condition-ing to expel the hot air. 2. Afterwards, keep the windows closed when the air conditioner is in use. Theentry of outside air through open windows will reduce cooling efficiency.
3. When running the air conditioner, make sure the air intake, which is located infront of the windshield,
is free of obstruc-
tions such as leaves. Leaves collected in the air-intake chamber may reduce airflow and plug the water drains.
If the air conditioner seems less effective than usual, the cause might be a refrigerant leak. Have the system inspected by your authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer or a repair facilityof your choice.

For quick defrosting NOTE
While the “ ” indicator light is on, the air conditioning compressor
will run automati-
cally. The outside air
position will also be
selected and the blower
speed will be set at
the maximum automatically.
 If the “ ” indicator light is on, you cannot turn the air conditioner
off or select the recir-
culation position. This prevents the windowsfrom fogging up.  To defog quickly, direct the air flow from the side vents toward the door windows.  When defrosting, do not set the temperature to the maximum cool position. This will blow cool air on the
window glass and fog it
up.
