Car Finder
Press the button twice within threeseconds. A tone sounds and thedirection indicators flash. Werecommend you use this method to locateyour vehicle, rather than using the panicalarm.
Sounding the Panic Alarm
Note:The panic alarm only operates whenthe ignition is off.
Press the button to sound thepanic alarm. Press the buttonagain or switch the ignition on toturn it off.
Remote Start
WARNING: To avoid exhaust fumes,do not use remote start if your vehicle isparked indoors or in areas that are not wellventilated.
Note:Do not use remote start if your fuellevel is low.
The remote start button is on thetransmitter.
This feature allows you to start your vehiclefrom the outside. The transmitter has anextended operating range.
You can configure your automatic climatecontrol to operate when you remote startyour vehicle. See Climate Control (page 141).
Many states and provinces have restrictionsfor the use of remote start. Check your localand state or provincial laws for specificrequirements regarding remote startsystems.
The remote start system does not work if anyof the following occur:
•The ignition is on.
•The anti-theft alarm triggers.
•You switch the feature off in theinformation display.
•The hood is open.
•The transmission is not in park (P).
•The battery voltage is below theminimum operating voltage.
Remote Control Feedback (If Equipped)
An LED on the remote control provides statusfeedback of remote start or stop commands.

Remote Starting your Vehicle
Note: You must press each button withinthree seconds of each other. If you do notfollow this sequence, your vehicle does notstart remotely, the direction indicators donot flash twice and the horn does not sound.
The label on your transmitter details thestarting procedure.
1. Press the lock button to lock all thedoors.
2.Press the remote start button twice. Theexterior lamps flash twice.
A tone sounds if the system fails to start.
Note:You must press the push buttonignition switch on the instrument panel oncewhile applying the brake pedal beforedriving your vehicle.
The power windows do not work duringremote start and the radio does not turn onautomatically.
The parking lamps remain on and yourvehicle will run for 5, 10 or 15 minutes,depending on the setting.
Extending the Engine Running Time
To extend the engine running time durationof your vehicle during remote start, repeatsteps 1 and 2 while the engine is running. Ifthe duration is set to 15 minutes, the durationextends by another 15 minutes. For example,if your vehicle had been running from thefirst remote start for 5 minutes, your vehiclecontinues to run now for a total of 30minutes. You can extend the engine runningtime duration to a maximum of 30 minutes.
Wait at least five seconds before remotestarting after the engine stops running.
Turning Your Vehicle Off After RemoteStarting
Press the button once. Yourvehicle and the parking lamps turnoff.
You may have to be closer to your vehiclethan when starting due to ground reflectionand the added noise of your running vehicle.
You can switch this feature on or off in theinformation display. See General Information(page 110).
Memory Feature
You can program your intelligent access keyto recall memory positions. See MemoryFunction (page 152).
REPLACING A LOST KEY OR
REMOTE CONTROL
Replacement keys or remote controls canbe purchased from an authorized dealer.Authorized dealers can program remotecontrols for your vehicle. See PassiveAnti-Theft System (page 77).

Opening and Closing the PowerDecklid
Note:You can reverse the decklidmovement. Press the instrument panel ordecklid button again, or press the remotecontrol button twice.
Note:Do not push or pull on the powerdecklid while it is under operation, as thismay cause damage to your vehicle.
The decklid will only operate with thetransmission in park (P).
If the decklid reverses or starts to close afteran open request, you will hear a fastcontinuous chime. This indicates excessiveload on the decklid or a possible gas strutfailure. If the decklid continues to close afteropening, have the system checked by anauthorized dealer.
From Inside Your Vehicle
Press the button on the instrumentpanel.
With the Remote Control
Press the button twice within threeseconds.
From Outside Your Vehicle
Press the exterior release button to open theluggage compartment. Your vehicle must beunlocked or have an intelligent accesstransmitter within 3 ft (1 m) of the luggagecompartment.
Note:Let the power system operate thedecklid after pressing the control. Pushingor pulling the decklid may activate theobstacle detection feature and stop thepower operation.
With the Decklid Close Button
Press the button inside the decklidon the left-hand side.
Obstacle Detection
The decklid will reverse to full open if itdetects an obstacle while closing. Threechimes will sound as the decklid begins toreopen. Remove the obstacle to close thedecklid.

To Unlock All Doors
Enter the factory-set code or your personalcode, then press 3·4 within five seconds.
To Lock All Doors
Press and hold 7·8 and 9·0 at the same timewith the driver door closed. You do not needto enter the keypad code first.
To Release the Trunk
Enter the factory-set code or your personalcode, then press 5·6 within five seconds.
Note:The keypad does not operate a powerdecklid.
Displaying the Factory Set Code
Note:You need to have two programmedintelligent access keys for this procedure.
To display the factory-set code in theinformation display:
1.Remove the rubber covering (A) from thecupholder. With the buttons facingupwards and the unlock button facingthe front of the vehicle, place the firstintelligent access in the backup slot (B).
2.Press the START/STOP button once andwait a few seconds.
3.Press the START/STOP button again andremove the key.
4. Insert the second programmed key intothe backup slot, and then press theSTART/STOP button.
The factory-set code appears in theinformation display for a few seconds.
Note:The code may not display until afterany other warning messages first display.

WARNING: Keep vehicle doors andluggage compartment locked and keep keysand remote transmitters out of a child’sreach. Unsupervised children could lockthemselves in the trunk and risk injury.Children should be taught not to play invehicles.
WARNING: Do not leave children oranimals unattended in the vehicle. On hotdays, the temperature in the trunk or vehicleinterior can rise very quickly. Exposure ofpeople or animals to these hightemperatures for even a short time can causedeath or serious heat-related injuries,including brain damage. Small children areparticularly at risk.

You must have two previously programmedintelligent access keys inside your vehicleand the new unprogrammed intelligentaccess keys readily accessible. See anauthorized dealer to have the spare keyprogrammed if two previously programmedkeys are not available.
Make sure that your vehicle is off beforebeginning this procedure. Make sure thatyou close all the doors before beginning andthat they remain closed throughout theprocedure. Perform all steps within 30seconds of starting the sequence. Stop andwait for at least one minute before startingagain if you perform any steps out ofsequence.
Read and understand the entire procedurebefore you begin.
1.Remove the rubber covering (A) from thecupholder. With the buttons facingupwards and the unlock button facingthe front of the vehicle, place the firstintelligent access in the backup slot (B).
2. Press the push button ignition switch.
3. Wait five seconds and then press thepush button ignition switch again.
4. Remove the intelligent access key.
5. Within 10 seconds, place a secondprogrammed intelligent access key in thebackup slot. Press the push buttonignition switch.
6. Wait five seconds and then press thepush button ignition switch again.
7. Remove the intelligent access key.
8. Place the unprogrammed intelligentaccess key in the backup slot and pressthe push button ignition switch.
Programming is now complete. Verify theremote control functions operate and yourvehicle starts with the new intelligent accesskey.
If programming was not successful, wait 10seconds and repeat Steps 1 through 7. If youare still unsuccessful, take your vehicle toyour authorized dealer.
ANTI-THEFT ALARM
The system will warn you of an unauthorizedentry to your vehicle. It will be triggered ifany door, the luggage compartment or thehood is opened without using the key,remote control or keyless entry keypad.
The direction indicators will flash and thehorn will sound if unauthorized entry isattempted while the alarm is armed.

Take all remote controls to an authorizeddealer if there is any potential alarm problemwith your vehicle.
Arming the Alarm
The alarm is ready to arm when there is nota key in your vehicle. Electronically lock yourvehicle to arm the alarm.
Disarming the Alarm
Disarm the alarm by any of the followingactions:
•Unlock the doors or luggagecompartment with the remote control orkeyless entry keypad.
•Switch your vehicle on or start yourvehicle.
•Use a key in the driver door to unlockyour vehicle, then switch your vehicle onwithin 12 seconds.
Note:Pressing the panic button on theremote control will stop the horn and signalindicators, but will not disarm the system.

POWER WINDOWS
WARNING: Do not leave childrenunattended in your vehicle and do not letthem play with the power windows. Failureto follow this instruction could result inpersonal injury.
WARNING: When closing the powerwindows, verify they are free of obstructionand make sure that children and pets are notin the proximity of the window openings.
Note:You may hear a pulsing noise whenjust one of the windows is open. Lower theopposite window slightly to reduce thisnoise.
Press the switch to open the window.
Lift the switch to close the window.
One-Touch Down
Press the switch fully and release it. Pressagain or lift it to stop the window.
One-Touch Up
Lift the switch fully and release it. Press orlift it again to stop the window.
Resetting One-Touch Up
Start the engine.
1.Lift and hold the window switch until youfully close the door window. Continue tohold the switch for a few seconds afteryou close the window.
2. Release the window switch.
3. Press and hold the window switch untilyou fully open the door window.
4. Release the window switch.
5.Lift and hold the window switch until youfully close the window.
6. Test for correct window operation bycarrying out the one-touch down andone-touch up features.
Bounce-Back
The window will stop automatically whileclosing. It reverses some distance if there isan obstacle in the way.
Overriding the Bounce-Back Feature
WARNING: If you overridebounce-back, the window does not reverseif it detects an obstacle. Take care whenclosing the windows to avoid personal injuryor damage to your vehicle.
Pull up the window switch and hold within afew seconds of the window reaching thebounce-back position. The window travelsup with no bounce-back protection. Thewindow stops if you release the switchbefore the window fully closes.
