Sy stem failure
If th ere is no operational readiness, thefo llowing
message appears in the multimedia sy stem: Sy
stem limitations
The 360° Camera will not function or will only
partially function in thefo llowing situations:
R The doors are open.
R The side mir rors are folded in.
R The rear door is open.
R There is heavy rain, snow or fog.
R The light conditions are poor, e.g. at night.
R The camera lens is obstructed, dirty or mis‐
ted up.
R If cameras or vehicle components in which
th e cameras are fitted are dama ged. In this
eve nt, ha vethe cameras, their positions and th
eir setting checked at a qualified specialist
wo rkshop.
Do not use the 360° Camera under such circum‐
st ances. You could otherwise injure others or
collide with objects when parking or manoeu‐
vring theve hicle.
Fo rte ch nical reasons, inaccuracies in the guide
lines and in the display of thege nerated ima ges
may occur in thefo llowing situations:
R Ifth eve hicle is car rying a heavy load and
lea vesth est andard height.
R When the dif fere ntial lo cks are engaged.
The field of vision and other functions of the
came rasystem may be restricted due toaddi‐
tional attachments on theve hicle (e.g. licence
plate brac ket, bicycle rack ).

tive Parking Assist Fu
nction of Active Parking Assist
Ac tive Parking Assist is an elect ronic pa rking
assis tance sy stem which uses ultrasound and is
automatically activated during forw ard tra vel.
The sy stem is operational at speeds of up to
appr oximately 35 km/h. When all the conditions
are fulfilled, thec symbol appears in the
multifunction display in the instrument clus ter
and the sy stem automatically sear ches for and
measu res parking spaces on bo thsides of the
ve hicle parallel and perpendicular tothe direc‐
tion of tra vel. If Active Parking Assist is activa‐
te d, suitable parking spaces are shown in the
display of the multimedia sy stem. The ësym‐
bol appears in the display of the multimedia sys‐
te m. The ar rowsshow on which side of the car‐
ri ag ewa y free parking spaces are located.
The parking space and, if necessar y,the parking
direction can be selected as desired. Active
Pa rking Assist calculates a suitable vehicle path
and assists you in parking and exiting the park‐

Sy stem limitations
Objects located abo veor below the de tection
ra nge of Active Parking Assist are not de tected
when the parking space is being measured.
These are also not take n into account when the
parking manoeuvre is calculated, e.g. overhang‐
ing loads, overhangs or loading ramp s of lor ries
or the boundaries of parking spaces. In some cir‐
cums tances, Active Parking Assist may therefore
guide you into the parking space prematurely.
Ac tive Parking Assist does not function under
th efo llowing conditions:
R When the dif fere ntial lo cks are engaged.
R When theDesert drive program is activated.
The availability of theDesert drive prog ram

R Vehicles with automatic transmis‐

owfa ll or heavy rain may lead toa parking
space being measured inaccuratel y.Pa rking
spaces that are partial lyoccupied bytrailer
dr aw bars might not be identified as such or be

Ac tive Parking Assist may also display parking
spaces that are not suitable for parking, e.g.:
R Parking spaces where parking is prohibited.
R Parking spaces on unsuitable sur faces.
Ac tive Parking Assist will not assist you with
parking spaces at right angles tothe direction of
tr av el in thefo llowing situations:
R If two parking spaces are located immedi‐
ately next toeach other.
R Ifth e parking space is immediately next to a
low obs tacle su chas a kerb. Ac
tive Parking Assist will not assist you with
parking spaces parallel or at right angles tothe
direction of tr avel in thefo llowing situations:
R Ifth e parking space is on a kerb.
R Ifth e parking space is bordered byan obs ta‐
cle, e.g. a tree, a post or a traile r.

% You can stop theve hicle and change the
transmission position du ring the parking pro‐
cedure. The sy stem then calculates a new ve
hicle path. The parking procedure can
th en be continued. If no new vehicle path is
av ailable, the transmission position will be
ch anged again. If theve hicle has not yet
re ached the parking space, the parking pro‐
cedure will be cancelled, should a gear be
ch anged.

also be warned of any crossing traf fic when
re ve rsing out of a parking space. If a critical sit‐
uation is de tected, symbol 1appea rsinthe

spond tothewa rning, theve hicle's brakes can
be applied automaticall y.To do this, the function
uses thera dar sensors in the bumper. The area
adjacent totheve hicle is continually monitored.
If th era dar sensors are obstructed byvehicles
or other objects, de tection is not possible.

nction of ATTENTION ASSI ST
AT TENTION ASSIST assists you on long, mon oto‐
nous journe ys, e.g. on mo torw ays and trunk
ro ads. If ATTENTION ASSIST de tects indicators
of fatigue or increasing lapses in concentration
on the part of the driver, it suggests taking a
brea k.
AT TENTION ASSIST is only an aid. It cannot
alw ays de tect fatigue or lapses in concentration
in time. The sy stem is not a substitute for a well-
re sted and attentive driver. On long journe ys,
ta ke regular breaks in good time that allow for
adequate recuperation.
Yo u can choose between two settings.
R Standard: normal sy stem sensitivity.
R Sensitive: higher system sensitivity. The
