FUEL FILLER FUNNEL LOCATION
The fuel filler funnel is under the luggagecompartment floor covering.
RUNNING OUT OF FUEL
Avoid running out of fuel because thissituation may have an adverse effect onvehicle components.
If you have run out of fuel:
•To start the vehicle with a keylessignition, just start the engine. Crank timewill be longer than usual.
•Normally, adding 1 gal (3.8 L) of fuel isenough to restart the vehicle. If thevehicle is out of fuel and on a steepgrade, more than 1 gal (3.8 L) may berequired.
•The service engine soon indicator maycome on.
Refilling With a Portable Fuel Container
WARNINGS
Flow of fuel through a fuel pump nozzlecan produce static electricity. This cancause a fire if you are filling an ungroundedfuel container.
Do not insert the nozzle of a fuelcontainer or an aftermarket funnel intothe fuel filler neck. This may damage the fuelsystem filler neck or its seal and cause fuelto run onto the ground.
WARNINGS
Do not try to pry open or push openthe capless fuel system with foreignobjects. This could damage the fuel systemand its seal and cause injury to you or others.
Note:Do not use aftermarket funnels; theywill not work with the capless fuel systemand can damage it. The included speciallydesigned funnel works safely with yourvehicle.
When filling the vehicle’s fuel tank from aportable fuel container, use the funnelincluded with the vehicle.

Reverse (R)
With the transmission in reverse (R), yourvehicle moves backward. Always come to acomplete stop before shifting into and outof reverse (R).
Neutral (N)
Press the neutral (N) button to put yourvehicle in neutral. In neutral, your vehicle canstart and is free to roll. Hold the brake pedaldown when in this position.
Stay in Neutral mode
Stay in Neutral mode allows your vehicle tostay in neutral when you exit your vehicle.Your vehicle must be stationary to enter thismode.
To enter Stay in Neutral mode:
1.Press the neutral (N) button on the shifterassembly.
2. The message Select N Again to EnterStay in Neutral mode appears in theinformation display screen.
3. Press the neutral (N) button again toenter Stay in Neutral mode.
The message Stay in Neutral modeengaged appears in the instrument clusterwhen your vehicle has entered Stay inNeutral mode.
Note:During this mode the neutral (N) buttonflashes continuously and the instrumentcluster displays neutral as the selected gear.
Exiting Stay in Neutral mode
To disable Stay in Neutral mode put yourvehicle in another gear. See the Putting theVehicle in Gear section for instructions onhow to do this.
Entering a Carwash
Note:Always put your vehicle in Stay inNeutral mode when entering an automaticcar wash. Failure to do this could result invehicle damage that may not be covered bywarranty.
Drive (D)
The normal driving position for the best fueleconomy.
Drive (D) with Grade Assist
Activate grade assist through theinformation display settings menu.See General Information (page112).
Grade assist:
•Provides additional grade braking with acombination of engine motoring andhigh-voltage battery charging to helpmaintain vehicle speed when descendinga grade.
•As your vehicle determines the amountof engine motoring and high-voltagebattery charging, you may notice theengine speed increasing and decreasingto help maintain your vehicle speed whendescending a grade.
The grade assist lamp illuminatesgrey when the grade assist featureis switched on through theinstrument display settings menu. The lampchanges from grey to green when gradeassist is actively providing additional gradebraking.

Electronic Stability Control
The system enhances your vehicle’s abilityto prevent skids or lateral slides by applyingbrakes to one or more of the wheelsindividually and, if necessary, reducingengine power.
Traction Control
The system enhances your vehicle’s abilityto maintain traction of the wheels bydetecting and controlling wheel spin. SeeUsing Traction Control (page 205).

USING STABILITY CONTROL
The system automatically turns on each timeyou switch the ignition on.
The electronic stability control portion of thesystem disables when the transmission is inreverse (R) or, on some models, if you pressand hold the stability control button for morethan five seconds when you apply the brakesand the vehicle is at a stop.
You can switch the traction control systemoff or on independently.

USING ADAPTIVE CRUISE
CONTROL (If Equipped)
WARNINGS
Always pay close attention to changingroad conditions when using adaptivecruise control. The system does not replaceattentive driving. Failing to pay attention tothe road may result in a crash, serious injuryor death.
Do not use the adaptive cruise controlwhen entering or leaving a highway,on roads with intersections or roundaboutsor non-vehicular traffic or roads that arewinding, slippery, unpaved, or steep slopes.
Do not use the system in poor visibility,for example fog, heavy rain, spray orsnow.
WARNINGS
Do not use the system when towing atrailer with aftermarket trailer brakecontrols. Aftermarket trailer brakes will notfunction properly when you switch thesystem on because the brakes areelectronically controlled. Failing to do so mayresult in loss of vehicle control, which couldresult in serious injury.
Do not use tire sizes other than thoserecommended because this can affectthe normal operation of the system. Failureto do so may result in a loss of vehiclecontrol, which could result in serious injury.
Adaptive cruise control may not detectstationary or slow moving vehiclesbelow 6 mph (10 km/h).
Adaptive cruise control does not detectpedestrians or objects in the road.
Adaptive cruise control does not detectoncoming vehicles in the same lane.
Adaptive cruise control is not a crashwarning or avoidance system.

Cruise Control

Switching to Normal Cruise Control
WARNING
Normal cruise control will not brakewhen your vehicle is approachingslower vehicles. Always be aware of whichmode you have selected and apply thebrakes when necessary.
You can change from adaptive cruise controlto normal cruise control through theinformation display.
The cruise control indicator lightreplaces the adaptive cruisecontrol indicator light if you selectnormal cruise control. The gap setting doesnot display, and the system does not respondto lead vehicles. Automatic braking remainsactive to maintain set speed.
Switching to ECO Cruise
Using cruise control with ECO Cruiseswitched on may change the operation ofthe system. This feature saves vehicleenergy by relaxing acceleration comparedto standard cruise control. For example, yourvehicle may temporarily lose speed whengoing uphill.

LANE KEEPING SYSTEM (If Equipped)
WARNINGS
The system is designed to aid thedriver. It is not intended to replace yourattention and judgment. You are stillresponsible to drive with due care andattention.
Always drive with due care andattention when using and operating thecontrols and features on your vehicle.
At all times, you are responsible forcontrolling your vehicle, supervisingthe system and intervening, if required.Failure to take care may result in the loss ofcontrol of your vehicle, serious personalinjury or death.
In cold and severe weather conditionsthe system may not function. Rain,snow and spray can all limit sensorperformance.
The system will not operate if thesensor cannot track the road lanemarkings.
WARNINGS
The sensor may incorrectly track lanemarkings as other structures or objects.This can result in a false or missed warning.
Large contrasts in outside lighting canlimit sensor performance.
The system may not operate properlyif the sensor is blocked. Keep thewindshield free from obstruction.
If damage occurs in the immediate areasurrounding the sensor, have yourvehicle checked as soon as possible.
Note:The system works above 40 mph(64 km/h).
Note:The system works as long as thecamera can detect one lane marking.
Note:The system may not function if thecamera is blocked or there is damage to thewindshield.
Note:When Aid mode is on and the systemdetects no steering activity for a short period,the system will alert you to put your handson the steering wheel. The system maydetect a light grip or touch on the steeringwheel as hands off driving.
The system notifies you to stay in your lanethrough the steering system and theinstrument cluster display when the frontcamera detects an unintentional drift out ofyour lane is likely to occur. The systemautomatically detects and tracks the roadlane markings using a camera mountedbehind the interior rear view mirror.

System Display
When you switch on the system, an overheadgraphic of a vehicle with lane markings willdisplay in the information display. If youselect aid mode when you switch on thesystem, a separate white icon will alsoappear or in some vehicles arrows willdisplay with the lane markings.
When you switch off the system, the lanemarking graphics will not display.
While the system is on, the color of the lanemarkings will change to indicate the systemstatus.
Gray: Indicates that the system is temporarilyunable to provide a warning or interventionon the indicated side(s). This may bebecause:
•Your vehicle is under the activationspeed.
•The direction indicator is active.
•Your vehicle is in a dynamic maneuver.
•The road has no or poor lane markingsin the camera field-of-view.
•The camera is obscured or unable todetect the lane markings due toenvironmental, traffic or vehicleconditions. For example, significant sunangles, shadows, snow, heavy rain or fog,following a large vehicle that is blockingor shadowing the lane, poor headlampillumination.

Green: Indicates that the system is availableor ready to provide a warning or intervention,on the indicated side(s).
Yellow: Indicates that the system is providingor has just provided a lane keeping aidintervention.
Red: Indicates that the system is providingor has just provided a lane keeping alertwarning.
The system can be temporarily suppressedat any time by the following:
•Quick braking.
•Fast acceleration.
