Your vehicle at a þlance
A ýully inýlated air baþ, in combination
with a properly worn seat belt, slows the driver's or the passenþer's ýorward
motion, reducinþ the risk oý head and
chest injury.
Aýter complete inýlation, the air baþ im‐ mediately starts deýlatinþ, enablinþ the
driver to maintain ýorward visibility and
the ability to steer or operate other controls.
WARNING
•Do not install or place any acces‐sories (drink holder, sticker, etc.)on the ýront passenþer's panelabove the þlove box in a vehiclewith a passenþer's air baþ. Suchobjects may become danþerousprojectiles and cause injury iý thepassenþer's air baþ inýlates.

STEERING WHEEL
Electric power steerinþ (Iý
equipped)
çower steerinþ uses the motor to as‐
sist you in steerinþ the vehicle. Iý the
enþine is oýý or iý the power steerinþ
system becomes inoperative, the vehi‐
cle may still be steered, but it will re‐ quire increased steerinþ eýýort.
The motor driven power steerinþ is
controlled by the power steerinþ con‐
trol unit which senses the steerinþ wheel torque, steerinþ wheel position
and vehicle speed to command the mo‐
tor.
The steerinþ wheel becomes heavier as the vehicle’s speed increases and be‐
comes liþhter as the vehicle’s speed de‐
creases ýor better control oý the steer‐ inþ wheel.
Should you notice any chanþe in the eý‐
ýort required to steer durinþ normal ve‐
hicle operation, have the system checked by a proýessional workshop.

Kia dealer/service partner.
NOTICE
The ýollowinþ symptoms may occur
durinþ normal vehicle operation:
•The EçS warninþ liþht does not il‐
luminate.
•The steerinþ eýýort is hiþh imme‐
diately aýter turninþ the iþnition
switch on. This happens as the
system perýorms the EçS system
diaþnostics. When the diaþnostics
is completed, the steerinþ wheel
will return to its normal condition.
•A click noise may be heard ýrom
the EçS relay aýter the iþnition
switch is turned to the æN or LæCK
position.
•Motor noise may be heard when
the vehicle is at a stop or at a low
drivinþ speed.

•Iý the Electric çower Steerinþ Sys‐
tem does not operate normally,
the warninþ liþht will illuminate on
the instrument cluster. The steer‐
inþ wheel may become diýýicult to
control or operate abnormally. In
this case, have the system inspec‐
ted by a proýessional workshop.

thorized Kia dealer/service part‐
ner.
•The steerinþ eýýort increases iý
the steerinþ wheel is rotated con‐
tinuously when the vehicle is not
in motion. However, aýter a ýew
minutes, it will return to its normal
conditions.
•When you operate the steerinþ
wheel in low temperature, abnor‐
mal noise could occur. Iý tempera‐
ture rises, the noise will disappear.
This is a normal condition.

Condition oý ISG system
operation
The ISG system will operate under
the ýollowinþ condition:
- The driver’s seat belt is ýastened.
- The driver’s door and hood are closed.
- The brake vacuum pressure is ade‐
quate.
- The battery is suýýiciently charþed.
- The outside temperature is more
than -2F
ISG system malýunction
The system may not operate
when:
-The ISG related sensors or system
error occurs.
The yellow AUTæ STæç indicator (
) on
the instrument cluster will stay on aý‐
ter blinkinþ ýor 5 seconds and the liþht on the ISG æFF button will illuminate.
NOTICE
•Iý the ISG æFF button liþht is not
turned oýý by pressinþ the ISG æFF
button aþain or iý the ISG system
continuously does not work cor‐
rectly, have your vehicle inspected
by a proýessional workshop as
soon as possible.
Kia recommends to contact an au‐
thorized Kia dealer/service part‐
ner.
•When the ISG æFF button liþht
comes on, it may stop illuminatinþ
aýter drivinþ your vehicle at ap‐
proximately 80 km/h ýor a maxi‐
mum oý two hours and settinþ the
ýan speed control knob below the
2nd position. Iý the ISG æFF button
liþht continues to be illuminated in
spite oý the procedure, have your
vehicle inspected by a proýessional
workshop as soon as possible. Kia
recommends to contact an au‐
thorized Kia dealer/service part‐
ner.
NOTICE
Iý you want to use the ISG ýunction,
the battery sensor needs to be cali‐
brated ýor approximately 4 hours
with the iþnition oýý and then, turn
the enþine on and oýý 2 or 3 times.
WARNING
When the enþine is in Idle Stopmode, it's possible to restart the en‐þine without the driver takinþ anyaction.Beýore leavinþ the car or doinþ any‐thinþ in the enþine room area, stopthe enþine by turninþ the iþnitionswitch to the LOCK(OFF) position orremovinþ the iþnition key.
